Ive always felt that great players cant understand why things arent working so i agree with Mark. The only superstar players that i can think of that succeed in coaching, front office or ownership were Larry Bird as coach and president. He was successful with Pacers. Jason Kidd isnt perfect but he is a successful coach. Mike Ditka was an HOF player and succeeded as coach. Alonzo Mourning if you wanna count him as a star player has succeeded in front office. Chris Mullin in Warriors front office.
Who else yall got in soccer, baseball, etx??

    • @emmanuelsiziba520

Thats also the case in soccer the most successful coaches , played at amature level and naver made it pro, were avarage players or never really played football/soccer they just liked the game, Pep guardiola the man city coach regarded as one of the best ever , was never a great player no one talks about how great he was heck ididnt even know if he had played soccer before but as a coach he is killing it, other coaches like him are jurgen kloop and jose mourino. No one tlks about their playing careers, but their coaching is world class they have won everything
as far as players its a diffrent thing sometimes i feel sorry for them becuase they tarnish their legacies, take Wayne Rooney the man u legend, he is a disaster failed at every club hes coached and frank Lampard the chelsea legend failed dismally at chelsea but he had everthing the owner abbramovic gave him every player he needed but still failed. its very few great players who go on to become great managers. few are thriving most just be ruining their legendary status

      @Motorata661 3 месяца назад +1

Jerry West did great as a general manager but considering how many times he failed to win against the Celtics in the finals I think he knows how it feels for things to not work out.
There is truth in what you say, great players have special things that made them different and probably had coaches trying to make them play a more standard playstyle and just ignored them and played their way.
And their way its great because it fits their greatness.
But most players arent them, other players arent as obsessed or as gifted with the sport as them and as owners they have to accept that, they have to accept that if a player cant win against an opponent in a 1v1 it isn't like he is lazy or weak, he simply isn't good enough.
But I think that Lebron will be capable to making the transition because he also knows what it is to fail even with your best efforts even when you are elite.
He is also a facilitator so he is more used to assessing the strengths and weaknesses of players.

If what he was saying is true then why aren't most teams successful at the highest level? Most teams aren't owned, coached or managed by former superstars yet they struggle. It's simply a numbers game. In any field, only a handful of companies or people can dominate at the highest level, it's why we talk about the 1% so much. So regardless of background, most teams won't be as successful as the Lakers, Celtics, Bulls etc... Most teams will be mid-bottom of the pack.

Bron as a GM would have the mentality that he could raise up every player on the team to his level. A lesser player just knows that's not possible and that you have to work with what you got.
Imagine a guy who has limitless potential trying to put a team together with restraints. It's just not gonna work.

Except for Larry Bird. He will fare well as an NBA owner for sure because he stays grounded and understand the team's strengths and limitations.

Mark Cuban is a really smart sports team owner. He’s a personality but he doesn’t meddle with his team like Jerry West and others. I think he might be wrong about Lebron tho. Lebron has more Magic in him than Jordan. Lebron and Magic are I believe better judges of talent than Jordan has been as an owner. Lebron will need a strong GM tho.

Unless the NBA tank and prices go down, I’m not sure how LeBron is going to be a majority owner of a NBA team anytime soon. He’s going to have to come up with a couple of billions. Maybe even in the 10s.

Lebron is a billionaire without a billion dollar shoe company, billion dollar nba contract, etc. Lebron has built his wealth with different sources of incomes. That’s the difference between him and Jordan.

You don't built teams anymore for several reasons. 1) salary caps 2) all abt the bags 3) easy chips...etc.
There ain't no pride or honour like they used to.
There's so little team identity nowadays let's face it, most ppl follow the stars not the team. Then theres the bandwagon team followers.

Jordan bought the Hornets for under 200 million and sold them for personal profit of almost 2 billion. So I’d say using Jordan as an example of the challenges of a player owning an NBA team doesn’t quite line up.

Mark said said Diddy might have had “TOO MUCH MONEY” and now he saying LEBRON WOULD HAVE A TOUGH TIME AS AN OWNER as if Lebron isn’t widely known as one of the most intelligent players of all time and as if he hasn’t been a GM his whole career as if his partner doesn’t have the most valuable NBA contracts of all time and is basically responsible for the current nba player team interaction style.
