  • We took the BMW R1250GS on a different sort of review.
    We reviewed the entire bike, not just the changes from the R1200GS. We were really hoping that it would live up to it's legend of being the jack of all trades motorcyle, the universal soldier of bikes. Let us know if you share our opinion.

      mld ....Bmw S1000XR is a genuine sport adventure motorcycle , I put 49000km in 3 seasons. I agree that is different from a GS but is definitely is not a street bike.

    Congratulation for your video and review. It's not so easy to find a full review like this including also a night ride. I tested the exact same bike a few days ago and I was a little "worried" as I own a BMW 800 and never ride before a 1200. First thing that impressed me was how easy is to handle such a big bike even in traffic. Then I was surprised by the way the power is delivered. Is smooth you Always feel in control. And last were the brakes! I mean they are really outstanding.
    Going to save money for this bike, I simply love it.
    PS The place were you have been offroad are simply beautyful!! Thanks for sharing.

    I enjoyed your review, especially since the fall scenery reminded me of my old stomping grounds, just North of the mountains, in Transylvania! The 1250 GS has not made it into dealerships here across the pond (in Seattle) yet, but I have already put down a deposit on one (I'm first on the waiting list, yeeey!). in the meantime still riding my 2013, which is my 6th GS! At almost 100.000 km it still runs better than the day I bought it. Anxiously waiting for the replacement though...

    This was a very helpful review, and the scenery was beautiful. The only question which remains in my mind is whether the rear seat is comfortable and easy to access for a passenger ( I like to tour with my wife along). I'll bring along She Who Must Be Well Taken Care Of when it's time to take a test ride.

    • @LongWayHome

      HAHAHAHAHAHA! Brilliant! If the rider seat is comfortable, the pillion must be as well. I think if you have the panniers attached as well, it will give "She Who Must Be Well Taken Care Of" a lot of confidence and somewhere to rest her arms. I sometimes keep my hand there to stretch.

    • @LongWayHome
      @LongWayHome  5 лет назад

      GSA all the way. I bought a GS and the next year swapped it for a GSA. Longer suspension travel, larger fuel tank, already comes with aux lights and crash bars and looks like a tank.

    • @mtscott
      @mtscott 3 года назад

      I have the same dilemma GS or GSA.
      GS looks slimmer and more sporty. It’s a prettier bike IMHO.
      GSA big behemoth but more fuel, which I know I will regret if I don’t get it. In Australia GS Rallye X has same suspension as GSA if you need longer suspension. Might be called HP in Europe?
      I just can’t decide 😫😭 (first world problems...😏)

    Whatever i buy..
    I will be stuck with it for next 5 years.
    So it's 1250gs this month
    Or
    1300 gs after 16/18 months.
    I was wondering as to what improvements did 1250 see over the 1200
    And if I can use that pattern to predict what will be worthwhile in 1300?
    Lusty enuf for me to wait
    Any ideas ?
    I don't crave much power.
    Infact 900/950 is enuf for me
    What I want more of is better weight engineering
    Even better brakes and safety and ride quality and unique electronics proposition whixh makes me delay my purchase.

      Nope. You don't want to take that heavy, 'too easily tilted when you don't want to' machine. Great everywhere else. Price not justifiable in light of owners spending a 3rd of their ownership on courtesy bike 'cause electronics failed. Great looks though and top on tarmac. But avoid wet green lanes at ALL COST.
