    If you are watching this as a non-vegan, I hope I will help explain why adopting a vegan lifestyle is necessary. For the wellbeing of the animals tortured and killed for their flesh and secretions. For the protection of the planet and all life that depends on it. For your health. Go to • GARY YOUROFSKY - The G... to hear the listen to the best speech you'll ever hear about animal rights. Go to www.challenge22.com for meal suggestions and nutrition support.
    If you are a vegan that doesn’t speak for the animals, I hope I can inspire you to open conversations with non-vegans. As vegans we have woken up to the systemic oppression of farmed animals, after abstaining from contributing to their suffering we must help others align their morals with their actions.

    People will come up with convenient appeals to futility to avoid confronting their actions.
    "what about plant suffering" even though we know that more plants are killed to produce animal products as well as the animals.
    "the animal is already killed by the time I buy it" even though they are well aware of supply and demand and their role in it.
    If they have intellectual honesty they wouldn't even go to the "what about plants" nonsense.

      How about that lens turning towards yourself? If you are not growing the plants you eat you are killing many animals to support the farming system that puts produce in your grocery. Do you eat only local seasonal fruits or vegetables? If not those products are shipped internationally then trucked to you.
      Many animals go extinct you know what types of animals don't face extinction, farm animals.
      Veganism isn't a solution for the world, you may personally get satisfaction from it, many if not most others will not.
      What is wrong with simply advocating for local humane production and distribution? Provide farmers with outlets that are local most people are humane but with no choice but to join Purdue or other conglomerates farmers do not get choice. Yelling at people who eat meat helps nothing they will eat meat regardless. Advocating and supporting what you detest will actually cause less cruelty, or you could pontificate from your exalted position where your better than everyone yet serve no actual purpose besides patting yourself and your echo chamber on the back.

    Non-human animals are people in non-human bodies. Humans are animals. If humans are people, so are non-human animals.

      @@scruffyalice-ff5pz I guess it depends on your definition. Someone may consider a person/people as beings with an experience. I like this way of thinking of personhood as humans aren't supreme.

    They would have a better time arguing that animals are not sentient than plants are sentient.

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  2 месяца назад +6

      Do you think so? As far as I can tell there is no arguing that animals are not sentient, however I think there could be a good case made for plant sentience. The way I see it is either way (you believe only humans are sentient, animals are sentient, or even plants are sentient) veganism reduces unnecessary death and suffering.

      @@Amber.For.Animals By biological definition humans ARE animals. A human claiming to not be an animal is like an penguin claiming that its not a bird.
      There is no argument for plant sentience. Sentience requires a complex system of sensory organs or at least nerves and central nervous system but all of that has to be connected to a brain to process those signals. Without a brain any kind of awareness is impossible.

    • @Amber.For.Animals
      @Amber.For.Animals  2 месяца назад +2

      @@garibaldi54 Yes, sorry I dont mean to say that humans aren't animals, of course they are, just that some people may try to say that other animals aren't sentient.
      On plant sentience I really think the evidence against it isn't conclusive. They have sensory organs which perceive and respond to their environment, and although it is not like that of animals it may experience the world in another way which we cannot comprehend. Some may say that their responses are mechanical but the same has been said about humans and other animals. It is not proven that they are not sentient so I think it may be counterintuitive to state that they are not as a fact.

      @@Amber.For.Animals I agree Amber.
      I am curious that you think there might be a good case to argue that plants are sentient.
      I'm not sure about that one. The usual (current) vegan argument is that plants don't have a brain. The problem is then that we have to define or at least understand the criteria for a brain.
      Some medical Scientists would argue that we have a brain in our gut made from microbiome circuits.
      Again, I feel unsure about defining this as a brain . But, it does show that the definition for brain can be somewhat stretched.
      Funghi such as Much rooms are quite interesting. Perhaps one could speculate that spores arrange themselves during development into a central control centre.
      I don't believe this would be enough to 'feel pain' but could it be enough for awareness of life somehow?
      What do you think?

    • @garibaldi54
      @garibaldi54 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Amber.For.Animals Plants only have biological reactions. Which isn't the same as a sentient/conscious reaction.
      Its like our skin has biological reactions to sunlight and our sweat glands and hairs have biological reactions to temperature. These happen even if we're asleep or unconscious and even when awake we have no sensory knowledge of the reactions its simply an automatic trigger.
      In order to even know of your own existence you need a brain to produce the consciousness of that. That is simply a biological neccesity. What you're stating is that anything that cannot be objectively proven as fact could be true. By that logic you could argue that a seed could be aware and feel pain. Plants are in no way complex enough to do these things and there is no evolutionary purpose for them to be. So the chances of them sentient just because we cannot prove they aren't is like saying smurfs and wombles could exist because nobody has ever proven that they don't.
