    If you are watching this as a non-vegan, I hope I will help explain why adopting a vegan lifestyle is necessary. For the wellbeing of the animals tortured and killed for their flesh and secretions. For the protection of the planet and all life that depends on it. For your health. Go to • GARY YOUROFSKY - The G... to hear the listen to the best speech you'll ever hear about animal rights. Go to www.challenge22.com for meal suggestions and nutrition support.
    If you are a vegan that doesn’t speak for the animals, I hope I can inspire you to open conversations with non-vegans. As vegans we have woken up to the systemic oppression of farmed animals, after abstaining from contributing to their suffering we must help others align their morals with their actions.

    I like how humble both the two girls and Amber were in this conversation, just an honest and genuine conversation, no one was preaching and no one was trying hard to defend animal abuse involved in their diet.
    I also recommend , which was the first documentary I watched that led to a few others including and which eventually made me vegan overnight. I remember that night after watching all these documentaries, I opened my fridge and looked at the meat and dairy inside, I was shocked by how I didn't see the connection between animal farming and animal killing/abuse. It's been over 6 years now and I have watched more and more plant-based products being added to the supermarket shelf. It's changing and it needs more people to join the change. Yes it will seem more expensive at first, look up some recipes, talk to a vegan friend and as Amber said, try to eat less processed plant-based products. Vegan sausages are more expensive than meat sausages because they are not subsidised by the governement. Hopefully one day they will be. But legumes and tofu are quite affordable almost anywhere. Good job for spreading the education Amber.

      I respectfully disagree, and I believe that veganism as an idea should be kept far far away from other social justice ideas.
      I am NOT saying that vegans can't be engaged in other issues. I just think that the issues need to be kept separated to keep the message clear, less muddy and less watered down. Just like I strongly believe that veganism need to be kept as an ethical issue, and not be about health nor the environment.
      Edit: I am open to have a conversation about this topic. But only if it remains respectful. (I am fed up with vitriol online)

    • @Oysters176

      It's simple, most of our meat as in livestock are Ungulates. The only exceptions in terms of Mammals really, are Rabbits unless you are in Australia which has a different fauna than most places. The difference to eating Dogs to say Cows, is actually just that is an agreed among convection to throw our pitchforks over, that different people can unite over even across nations and conflicts. The reason is not rational, it is more tribalistic, you would not be eating a pig if you are Muslim, or a cow if you are Hindi, through generational demographics may change that. If you want another reason, it is that Potential Boyfriend's may disqualify you as a partner if you are a vegan. No Guy wants to change for a girl. And no good guy and especially the bad boys wants a vegan to take care of, or to take care of them. A Guy wants to be good enough on his own, maybe with the girls support. We may eat our Cats in an emergency situation, but the thing is, we would rather starve than eat our dog. The main difference between a dog and a cow is that a dog depends on you, personally, for it's own duty and your steady hand and you love and it loves you, and we respect that. A cow is literally raised for slaughter, it has no other purpose than to eat. Sure, it can work the farms, but we mostly use trackers now, that practice isn't much done anymore. If you have a pet pig, we can make an exception to that particular pig. But you would need a reserve for Ungulates to be protected.

    • @Oysters176
      @Oysters176 4 месяца назад

      Your family did not 'get it' because it is so normal as to not be questioned. You don't break the fabric of society and of culture, of what is sacred, that is like asking why do we set our forks in a particular way or why we count in base 10, or why we do not engage in violence, you are only going to be given a nonsense reason. Accept the society you are a part of. Don't be a vegan. If your grandmother was Christian, must you be a Christian as well? No you do not have to be Christian, but you cannot disrespect Christianity if your grandparent is a good Christian. That will just make you a bad grandchild who does not deserve anything in the will.

      All you are saying is that it is cultural and macho to eat meat. But culture always has changed and being vegan does not make you less macho it shows you are a caring person

    • @Oysters176
      @Oysters176 4 месяца назад

      @@barrydevonshire9749 Caring person? No, what I said is that being vegan automatically disqualifies you from having a boyfriend if you are a girl. Even if you were even once vegan it probably disqualifies you from girlfriend material. Maybe it would make you less worthy of being helped from being bullied in school too. You can argue until you are blue in the face, that does not change anything. I actually tried giving you an answer, I thought you asked that. Stop expecting everyone to be the same as you.

    Very good and respectful discussion by all. The best change in my life iv ever made was nearly 12 yrs ago when i went vegan for the animals, and by doing so my long term health issues all cleared up within weeks and i am healthier now at nearly 69 than i ever was before. I saw that as a positive rewarding bonus for doing the right and moral thing. I would love to see veganism taught in schools as an important lesson in life.

    Hey Amber, nice convo overall, but I’d be weary about saying that veganism is a philosophy about “reducing harm” rather than a principled stance about eliminating one’s commodification and exploitation of animals. The problem with using the word reduction is it suggests veganism is a reducitarian position, and many carnists convince themselves they don’t eat animal products “that much.”
    The fact is, living itself requires that we will commit some amount of harm, so if veganism is merely about reducing harm, then everyone could call themselves a vegan and a hypocrite at the same time, whether they consume animal products or not. This is why veganism is about the elimination of certain behaviors (ie exploiting animals) not merely harm reduction.

      @@redbriarn6295Steven Davis was only referring to “free-range ruminant animals” which is a very small percentage of all land animals that are farmed. But even with those statistics, it’s wrong. He basically calculated that the same amount of land usage has equal food output, whether crops or animal products. But that is wrong, you need less land to produce the same amount of food using crops. So Steven David's report actually argues in favor of a vegan diet if you use the correct stats. It’s long been debunked. Being vegan causes less crop deaths, as more crops globally are fed to animals than people.
