Nice work! I like the written commentary. The issue with “acrasia-tho” carnists is that they think violating animal rights is either only a minor injustice and/or abstinence from such actions is non-obligatory. This carnist falls into both categories.

My take is there is no such thing as the right to live. To be more precise, I do not believe in any form of human or animal rights. The problem though is we can make agreements with other humans based on the non-aggression principle, but animals pose a technical issue because they do not understand the nature of contracts. Basically, you cannot approach a lion and say "I won't attack you if you do not attack me." Based on this, the cruelty you exert on an animal when you are hungry is justified because they would do the same to you if they could.

      1. How do you know someone uses tallow and gelatin? Vegans avoid those products in regular consumer items.
      2. When it comes to the rest. Firstly, if you have, I would like to see proof of which animal products are in which of these items you mention and if it is like that everywhere. I would appreciate it. No vegan is an expert in know what everything is made of, so education is always good.
      3. Granted some of the things you mentioned. (I know for example that the baby chicks macerated alive are sometimes used in concrete.)
These things exist and are they way they are because non-vegans view animals are resources, not because of vegans. How can we live practically in civilization without using roads? We need to demand an animal free society in all areas, indeed. Right now we are far away from that, but it's changing because of good people changing.
Veganism is not a set of practices, but a principle.
      4. Still, these things do not dictate that we have to look at animals as resources and live accordingly the best we can in this current carnistic world.
They also don't dictate that you or others have to participate in all the other easily avoidable areas of exploitation of animals.
This is a typical appeal to hypocrisy fallacy. If you are vegan, however, it's a fair conversation and I'd be happy to figure things out with you on how we can deal with this.
And even if we benefit or use facilities where non-vegans have put animal products, we can always use existing (second hand) than creating a demand for more.
This will also apply for the exploitation and even death of humans. A lot of humans die in production of items, buildings, infrastructure, traffic etc.

    1. If you want go 100% like this guy, then you should abstain from medical drugs und procedures testet on animals for you and your family, right?
    2. Plant based is healthy, but not vegan. There is a reason, why eggs and meat, cheese ect. is so tasty and makes us feel good and many people who abstain from it have cravings.
    3. You would have to end the "slavery" (his term) and "prisons" of all pets, where they are the toys, have to do whatever theirs "masters" want them to do.
    4. He didn´t bring any valid argument against animal products.

    • @theVegan47
      @theVegan47  Месяц назад +2

      1. 100% vegan means you adopt the mindset that non-human animals are not here for you to use. You stop seeing them as resources, slaves or commodities for human use and act accordingly as best as possible. If in an edge case you need to do something for your survival and basic health, you do what you have to do - just like in situations with humans. If a human attacks you, you can justify even taking their life.
Unfortunately, we live in a carnistic (non-vegan) world where most systems are based on exploiting animals. We can change this, but we need incentives for it.
      2. What do you mean plant based is healthy, not Vegan? Eating 100% plant based is a result of the Vegan ethical principle.
The reason why is seasoning, preparation, fat and salt content etc. Still irrelevant. We have to look at proper science, health outcome data and not pseudoscience.
I will link to health sources at the end.
      3. Veganism is against the use of animals in any way - including pets etc.
      4. Do you think it's ok for someone to exploit you and your family? To turn you into products?
If you say that it's your life and body, not anyone else's and that you have a preference to not be used, harmed etc. You just made a reasonable argument. And that applies to other species as well. We are similar to them in all the ways that matter.

      1. The majority of physicians (including my doc) do not recommend neither a pure vegan diet nor other extreme diets. My friends who were vegans stoppt while being pregnant and don´t apply it to their children, since their physicians advised them do so due to problems, including having depressions. The problems were solved after going back to a balanced diet. So are our physicians wrong?
      3. That would mean it’s better for the pets not having a life/not to exist in a good home, being loved and protected and having a better life then their relives in the wild, since their are treated when their sick, protected from predators, experience no starvation and have therefore a much higher life expectancy? So you are arguing against the increase of pleasure/happiness in the world! Btw this must be your interpretation of veganism, since I know 2 vegans, one with 2 cats, the other with a dog.
      4. In nature there is no law, no rules. Animals try and even have to „exploit“ other animals, humans included. This „exploitation“ is the core of life, no nature is possible without it. Or do you suggest we should stop the „mass-murdering“, the „war“ in the nature? How about stoping the predators from killing? We set the rules, and all that are human constructs. And the basic rule is humans first. So yes, to minimise suffering is good as much as possible
      5. What’s wrong with having cattle on a pasture, or chickens running around and taking their products without (or with minimal) suffering? In the wild this animals would suffer much more from predators (being eaten alive is no fun), parasites and starvation and have a lower life expectancy. What is the moral argument against it?
      6. Do you know how many animals die in the production of corn and other products? Gazillion animals build their nests in the fields each year or hide there when the fields are harvested. To my knowledge till now there no vegans harvesting the field by hand in order to make sure their food is harvested without „murder“.

So many appeals to emotion, false equivalences, and guilt tripping.
    It's hilarious.
Why do you use animal products needlessly for entertainment while only pretending to be against it?
My bet, you won't answer directly and factually.

      Name the false equivalences.
I try to make people connect with the victims and see it from their perspective in order to motivate empathy and understanding. To make them understanding that if it was them in that position, they would want their oppressors to stop. At the same time I make the objective case that they are individuals with preferences and a will to be free from exploitation. It's their life and their body. Those are the same reasons why we shouldn't exploit humans. We are similar in the ways that matter. Not recognizing that is ignorant and/or speciesist.
How am I using animal products needlessly for entertainment? What do you mean?

@@theVegan47 Comparing livestock and humans is an appeal to emotion and false equivalency.
Looks like I won the bet since you didn't answer directly or factually.
Many things are made with animal products.
Asphalt, some types of money, motor vehicles, electronics with processors, some housing materials, etc...
How did you needlessly reply without using something with a processor? Smoke signals?
Thanks for the easy win and your concession since you evaded the question and will continue evading the question.

@@SteversChed you just call everything a logical fallacy lmao...
"comparing livestock to humans is an appeal to emotion and false equivalence"
a comparison is NOT an equivalence... Nor is it an appeal to emotion. It's a comparison. You can compare literally any two things and not commit a fallacy.
      What "fact based question"? 😂
