- I did a deep dive on the specs of Apple's Vision Pro headset and there is so much more that I learned after reading through every line on the website. This is a FASCINATING product and I can't wait to try it out.

The band is Apple's take on the BOA system that started in the ski industry and now across the footwear world.
*cross-country, actually. It's only gotten into the *main* skiing industry this year (2023).
ruclips.net/video/5D70ytRImfo/видео.html
@@angryakita3870 No. Debuted on snowboard boots in 2001, look it up. It’s been around a long time in skiing and snowboard. Maybe it’s 2023 for the main cross country world but definitely not skiing or cycling.
@@boboso7238 I guess you meant skiing as including snowboarding? Because as I said, alpine skiing only just got BOA integrated into boots. It's been around in cross country longer than in Alpine skiing, that's all I know.
I believe the next iPhone will have 3d cameras on it. Allowing you to record and take pictures in 3d, which you can then view on the headset. As you mentioned recording with the headset will be rather odd but I believe this is how they will make this more natural. Allowing you to relive the moment you captured on your iPhone, while still being in the moment.
This is not going to be a widely selling product... so what would that be good for?
@@lepidoptera9337 this is true. Although when LiDAR initially was added to the iPhone it was more or less not that useful to the masses. It allowed the tech to get into the hands of developers to work on developing apps and uses for it. I can see this happening, but you do raise a good point. This would also encourage people to purchase this device or the consumer version when that comes out down the road. Just a thought!
They won't bring 3d cameras to the iPhone anytime soon. The 3d camera of the Vision Pro will be a unique selling point.
@@VraserX you sound like a hobby analytic
There is already what do you think the LiDAR and depth camera is ?!
I think the big thing on the Headset is a premium high price point for the first version, and the second version is more refined with real world data to lower costs and optimise how people would actually use it. So if you are looking forward to the headset i would predict that the second one would be the core headset that most people would adopt.
I always go by threes. The third iteration is the one I would buy.
I'm sure that the second iteration will still cost at least 2500. As soon as you can buy such a device for 1500, more people will opt for it.
@@stevenpike7857 I did this with the watchesB
I can’t wait for then 4th version to come out
I believe where they can cut cost is the materials (plastic instead of metal) and getting rid of the front glass. (It serves no purpose to the users, only to those around you.)
Most first impressions say it’s weight is still noticeable despite the external battery. Replacing or removing these materials will lighten as well as cut cost by hundreds. It’ll be branded as Vision Air.
The way to power the headset continuously is still through the batter pack (for now). The battery pack has an empty USB C port with which it can be connected to another power source. So Headset -> battery pack -> outlet/device
I’ve seen some people saying that Apple confirmed that you can plug it directly into the wall if you want, but I haven’t confirmed this myself.
@@ComfyChroma If the cable detached from the battery pack and is just a USB C, then I can't see why you couldn't just plug it into any other charger or outlet, yeah.
Unless they've coded it to only accept their battery pack... though that would mean they couldn't legally release it in the EU in future, as all USB C devices cannot be fixed to only your own accessories (California, India and Australia are all doing similar laws too)
Most incredible use is accessibility and communication for those with disabilities is what I thought. Second is business use when traveling. Third is lifelike FaceTime and video calls. It's not for the masses whatsoever in my opinion. Not yet until Ready Player One!
The hand interfacing needs more work for accessibility. Those without hands and some fingers may have issues. I’m confident Apple will have a solution since they are industry leading when it comes to accessibility.
@@canosisplays5152 and also how eyetracking will work with people who may only have 1 real eye
I have nystagmus, I wonder if they've considered that...
@@canosisplays5152 I agree
Accessibility is more about the ability to use an item as opposed to taking people to virtual locations though. If you don’t have the ability to use your hands then this could hinder it’s use unless it responds to voice commands or something.
Great review. I love the way you were positive about it, unlike some reviewers who always have to focus on what they don't like; that is annoying. I can't wait to buy one of these when it first hits the market. 😍
Thanks for watching!!
In regards to the external power pack....it looks like an opportunity for Third-party companies to offer (Apple-Approved) accessories
Plus it would be nice to integrate with the AirPods for better sound, since they have a space where they can fit comfortably.
Like a neck brace… I’d bite Apple’s hand off to have one but cervical instability is too dodgy if it’s heavy.
I’m calling it the Eye Mac (or Eye Max) because the eyes do it and get it all. Fight me.
@@ChatGPT1111Why? The sound is already better than airpods.
@@martinpavlicek2299 Have you been sniffing glue again?
I saw something on Twitter from a Spanish company that will make a third party band for the Vision Pro. It was a similar shape but had some very nice looking leather in their band. I'm sure that will be a big part of this like watch bands.
True, i was telling somebody I wouldn’t be surprised if Hermes made a band for it too
Can you imagine the price bands will cost for this!
ruclips.net/video/5D70ytRImfo/видео.html
Can’t imagine a leather band for this. Would be comfortable but I am sure it will happen
Link?
After watching many reviews of people with hands-on experience with the device, I am much more excited. The funny thing is that most English-speaking reviewers have neutral or less positive thoughts, but the Asian/Chinese reviewers see it as a significant technological advance. They see possibilities rather than look for flaws.
link to your favorite asian reviewer pls!
it is horrible phone already suck everyone out of reality this makes all reality gone. people should solve problems in their life for dopamine hits not watch random crap the only problem that is solved by this is people not being able to escape from having to do things enough and that's not only a problem for corporations
I'm seeing differently. All the people I watch with VR experience think it's nothing really new, just an upgrade with upgrade pricing, where as those who normally just review phones or general tech think it's a completely new thing nobody has done before
maybe Chinese or Eastern Asian culture people care more about how great the object can be in the future, it's like Asian parents always want their kids to get higher and higher grade, meanwhile, people born in Western culture care more about how much fun the experience can offer RIGHT NOW, obviously, the content of Vision Pro is truly nothing really kickass in terms of a VR/AR device in 2023
You mean "most Chinese companies can't wait to produce their own rip-off version of this ("VisON Pro"), and then spam endless TEMU or Alibaba adverts for them" 😂
This is an incredible looking piece of tech. May have to wait until the next few versions are more affordable but it’s still awesome
I can’t wait for the Apple vision pro! Will completely change everything
Nope
Cannot wait either.
@@swissheartydogs No foresight
No, it won't. It will drag the industry down with an Apple shaped anchor.
@@fonziejay2650 how?
The eye tracking to select stuff works great on PSVR and quest pro.
Can't wait to see your hands-on video next year! Genius Bar about to be WILDDDDDDD. 🤣
Can I get a matching headbands with my Watch wristbands?
The OpticID may come to iPhone.
The hand gestures work not just because of the downside lenses, but the R1 chip it uses to track movements similar to U1 chip for proximity motion awareness but better.
What wifi? If you connect to the Mac are you getting and saving from the Mac? So many questions that I look forward to learning.
Does anyone know if the headphones will be audible to others? It seems they don't cover your ears - what does this mean about audio leaking out -- are they headphones something like that?
The technology part of the Vision Pro announcement itself says, "the band attaches with a simple and secure mechanism allowing you to change it for a different size, or *even a different kind of band*." There will definitely be other bands.
Seems like the battery pack is more for when you have to wander away from a power source. Also if you head to a meeting room or something like that at work. Also handy for things like exercising where you won't want a power cord tether.
Man can you imagine if they made a band/case that looked like the Mandalorian’s helmet for this?? I know, this first gen version can’t really fit but if they can design Gen 2 in such a way or some enterprising Mando Fan with wealth to buy one to experiment manages to fit it into a Mandalorian helmet, that would certainly, absolutely be the Way!!! ;-)
Given they had the CEO of Disney part of the live-steam to announce that they will exclusively work with Apple for AR and VR experiences, I can't imagine it unreasonable to expect merch and accessories to come too...
Some websites are even claiming it's a 5 YEAR deal 😮
I wonder when this will be available for pre order.
Is amazing how different are the impressions of this product depending on being an usual VR user or not. For a user who has experience with other headsets over these years, this one seems like a science fiction device. Waaaay ahead in technology from the others. But a regular computer user can even complains about the photorealistic avatars not being so good (when the avatars from the rest of vr companies are more like nintendo mees). That's perfectly normal and it is something that most of us (experienced VR users) have to take in account.
Did anyone see the new strap in the keynote, I was pretty sure in the Dad scene where he was filming his daughter's blowing bubbles the vision pro headset had not just the back strap but also a strap that goes over the top of the head at 5:09 in this video .
oh wow nice catch , i didnt see that hmmmm
Good catch.
we appreciate the videos sam!! get some rest dude! and see you tonight 👀👀
Impressive Sam-Thanks for your amazing video-This was very insightful-Personally I think the headset is actually pretty impressive and a lot of features which seem impossible are actually real-Which is definitely amazing-It’s just the price that throws us all of I guess.
I was so confused when I got a clean my mac ad with Sam right in the middle of the video that I didn't even notice for a little while it was an ad 😂
3 uploads in basically 24 hours wow killing it 💙🔥
Amazing... given he doesn't seem to have watched Apple's video on it, nor demoed one personally!
Will they have night vision ? Would love to use this for driving at night
I basically just come to this channel now to get a chuckle from mr. rumor mill and the king of guesses
Are you doing a video for iOS 17 today Sam
I’m so excited for this device even so it so expensive
The LiDAR is used to map the room and adjust the sound
Sam your enthusiasm is contagious!!
I was wondering about data connection, Wi-Fi only? That’s a bummer, maybe next gen. Will have like e-data, always connected with no SIM
Possibly it might offer eSIM support?
The iPad lets you use a SIM just for mobile data, so be surprised if this is Wi-Fi only
I wanna know if the battery pack is wired to the power cord or can I attach a bigger external battery to it?!
my understanding is the cable is stuck to the power bank, but the power bank will have a usbc port on it to charge it, or connect it to the wall
They explained the security of the eye tracking during the event, basically the information of the tracking is maintained only on your device, not giving this info to the site, they will only be aware of what you’ve interacted clicking, etc, like nowadays web.
Websites can track your mouse movements while on their site, if they like. Apple could restrict that to just "clicks" when using the headset, but that would affect some features on some sites that require you to hover-over something
@@dftfireWell the headset software could pre-read the page to look for controlables that react to hovering. If you then hovered above it, the headset program would recognise this and give the information to the internet page, but only then. It would also have to work like this with online games, that need to know where you are looking. So it is more nuanced then like never telling anyone what you are looking at and only what you clicked on. It would be like doing this unless neceserary for functionality I guess.
I’m waiting for more information on VisionOS it’s a hybrid of the type of os you see on headsets like the oculus and HoloLens and iPad os
Apple Vision Pro Developer Labs: Note that it's also mentioned Vision Pro Developer Labs will let you experience your app running on the Apple Vision Pro, and these labs will be located in six locations worldwide: Cupertino, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore, London, and Tokyo. At least in the case of developer testing, it's not just limited to the United States.
Audio and video editing, as well as 3d rendering and animation software apps could work well with AR interface. Usually those programs come with so many modular windows etc. Having all those things displayed on separate screens and boards all around you could be effective.
It would also be cool for engineers.
Also some kind of truly inteligent asistent (speaking floating head avatar) that could guide you true the use of any kind of program and help you make some complex task just by your command would also be very effective. But that would need to be created by Apple itself.
Why limit yourself to a floating head? Apple is expert at AR. A full-size human Siri avatar could be sitting in a chair or standing just across from you, fully integrated into your environment with full awareness and understanding of the context of your surroundings.@@martinpavlicek2299
There’s a version of the bands with one that goes over the head. Brain Tong said the one he used had one over the top of his head.
I love how this product isn’t a method of escape into a “meta verse” like the quest, it’s literally an iPad converted into AR. It still keeps you connected
It does both AR and VR, so you can choose not to be connected if you wish
eye tracking on psvr 2 is actually really impressive too
I can’t wait to buy this looks sick
The thing here is... how this would be in 10 years from now if right now it's amazing, think in the first iPhone and then the iPhone X, the performance, design, cameras, system...this gonna be something huge and great, imagine when Apple drops the price too, yeah, it's the future
8:57 @AppleTrack - that is what I thought as well! So many options for people with disabilities or physical limitations. Eye tracking makes so much more possible.
It’ll take me about a year to save up for this but ima buy whatever version I can in a year
I just want to know if it runs Xcode or not
On AR inspection the band has an M on it so assume that means Medium? So I’m sure they are definitely selling different bands you can swap out
6:56 very subtle in the presentation and marketing materials online but whenever they talk about the V Pro showing someone’s human characteristics, ie their face, it’s with someone who has melanin. The V Pro being able to capture people with different amounts of melanin is crazy because it’s so hard for products like this to capture skin with less melanin. I do wonder how hair moves in a Persona, especially if someone has hair that moves when their head moves.
9:25 It shuts off if the battery disconnects. There’s no reserve battery or anything. Per Brian Tong, Apple told him that during his demo.
I hooe this could also be used as a VR gaming headset for video games rhat work for VR, otherwise for $3500 thats kinda tough especially as if im spending that much i wanna do everything I can with it
No reason it can't also do VR... it will just need companies out there to release VR games for it (or macOS, and you then view the game on the headset). But developer support will depend how-well the headset sells. The PSVR2 lacks games as not many own the headset, but they don't buy one as there are few games. Circular problem
Biggest thing to me is that with all that tech it's still monofocal, meaning, everything is focused at about 9 feet. At that price I'd expect varifocal lenses. So you're still going to get eyestrain, especially if you're manipulating virtual objects at the distance of your arms or hands. I found that stopped me being able to use gravity sketch for long on quest.
Apparently it's also heavy, and weight is why I sold my quest 1.
Estimated to be 1lb (approx 455g)
I assume the USB-C cable plugs into the battery pack to both charge the pack and provide pass through power to the headset
That's what I assume too. That would keep the cable behind you, and prevent a direct pull on your head if you walk too far away from the power source.
Ok, I want one. You sold me, Bro. Now I just gotta figure out which Mac laptop will work best with it. Starting to save my money.....NOW.
Did Apple buy a eye lab or how will the glasses system part work, who will make the inserts
ZEISS will make the inserts
battery packs are always upgradable, thankfully. it's very worth taking that extra weight off a headset!

Super excited for it! Who's going to be getting one??
People who have more money than brains
It’s going to be a brain 🧠 controller anyway inside … Now the will go inside your mind.. 😂😂😂
The true killer features for this is computing, movies and experiences. There will be VR games as well, but Apple don’t want that to be the focus. The experiences part is broad, but here are a few things. Attending events that are live, Virtual chat rooms for dating or just mingling for a shared interest, street view for maps, visiting a place with 3D mapped environments and spatial sounds🤯, etc. you get the picture.
Homeschooling during pandemic would be something totally different with this. The problem would be not much students or schools could afford the tech and you would need whole class using it at once so no one is excluded from education or given different quality of it. Meanwhile big part of the world still does not have any internet connection let alone reliable and quick one.
Also creative processes like audio and video editing, 3D modeling, rendering and animation. Imagine having your room turn into a whole studio with AR.
Wonder which version of the M2 they're gonna put in the Vision Pro. They have the 8 core and 10 core gpu versions. It's gotta be the 10 core one, right? And for $3.5k it'll have to have at least 1TB of storage
Or stream directly to iCloud and not be limited to local storage restrictions
@@Bazlightyear007 But then be limited to your Internet speed or data-cap at that time, particularly if on mobile-data
I see so many videos about the recording feature. People seem to forget that we have smartphones with cameras that do not have any obvious sign near the cameras that we are recording.
1️⃣ It's a bit more-obvious with a phone when someone is recording you, as they will generally be aiming the phone at you, whereas is normal use they wouldn't be. Whereas with a headset, someone looking at you could be either recording or not
2️⃣ In some European countries, they have laws that any devices that can record have to show an obvious red light as they do. In those countries, Apple will have to add that feature to be able to sell them there
Black Mirror. Imagine blocking someone out of your eyesight
The eye tracking is the same as what Sony PSVR2 uses it’s a Toby eye tracking sensor like every other headset with the eye tracking feature
And the PSVR2 is $550... if only Sony would allow it to work on PC! 😒
Can’t wait for the Ocean Band to come out!
Yes, if Apple wanted to, they could easily track what parts of the interface people are looking at and using the most. For years, website analytics have been able to compile what parts of webpages are popular by counting clicks and creating “heat maps”.
Would be interesting to know why it will be only available in the US.
As far as the eye tracking goes, what if are crossed eyes and have no fingers?
I'm a quadriplegic and I can't wait to find out how this thing can help me work, game and create.
I hope they have a solution for people like you! I just wonder how you'll be able to "click" on things without using the finger gestures shown. Maybe a "double blink" could be supported.
8:46 The first thing I thought about when watching the keynote was how this could relieve my pain.
It’ll be super intuitive but what i’m really hyped for is the imaginary ar keyboard and being able to use my ipad at the same time that is revolutionary in of itself
You know the programs with complex interfaces like audio and video editors and 3d rendering and animation programs. Being able to place all those screens and boards around you would be super convenient. Also it would be great for designers and engineers. Those kinds of studio apps I think would be interesting.
And perhaps apps for studying and home schooling. It would be great for online studying if it ever becomes needed again.
Bonus if the AI assistant (with floating head avatar or voice) can seamlessly guide you, teach you and advise or fulfill complex tasks based on verbal instruction. But that is more like AI thing but I think it is interesting to mention as well because it would blend in well with the new interface and control and I think will become part of the way the technology will be used in some future.
I also like the connectivity with your PC. What I mean is you can run very heavy programs on the PC, something the headset could not handle by itself but you would be able to access it in AR nevertheless because it would just connect.
my ad for this video was your ad lmfaooo
Sam, you better get ready for the event!
You didn’t know the tracing part with sound? The original Homepod did that from the beginning.
They even said something like come in the store for a custom fit.
I wonder how much more the Zeiss corrective lens will cost. Not that I can afford this at all. Can’t see an “SE” version being all that affordable either.
$150 in a regular store... so approx. $350 in the Apple store. ;-)
They showed a top strap during one of the promo adds.
Sam now learning how to code just to get the vision pro early on 😂 (and then for sure is not allowed to talk about it ahahah 🌚)
At the bottom of the Newsroom for the Vision Pro it notes that it will become available in more countries later in 2024
Us only but is Canada still for pre order?
US starting early next year. Other countries starting later next year.
They clearly stated during the Keynote that there were a variety of Light Seals to fit different faces.
I can’t wait for a drop test.
Apple stated that there would be different sized light seals
11:28 AppleTrack or Genius Bar needs a spatial app … I have a few ideas for you if your interested but I can easily see a direct to subscriber content driven app with audio and 180 video experiences
Hey, you completely forgot to mention the BIG one: in-air virtual keyboard. What I want to know is this: with AR tech, why can’t Apple project a keyboard onto a flat surface and let you type on that?
They said in the keynote that there would be more bands
Have you noticed that in the scene where the dad is recording his daughters blowing bubbles there is an extra strap on the top of the headset? 5:06
I need your iOS video 😭 Another good one though!
A question: will it work as well with one eye? As I have strabismus as do many people. Will it be the forward-facing eye? What does everyone think?
I'd guess the tracking and large display features should work for you, but the 3D won't as that usually relies on combining images between two eyes
i wonder if there will be a way to watch movies, play games, or even work with other VP users? or will this be a creative way to isolate people? 🤔
Well, each person would need their own headset to start with... and for a family of four, that would be $14000 for this first model!
So I think for a while you will see a lot of standalone use, and sharing the device around, to begin with
We need a halo style head strap! around the head doesn't quite work in actual use
eye tracking is flawless…the vision os will parallel the ipad os…I will use this as my iPad if they get the virtual typing experience perfect
did they say what the IPD range was?
Senior living centers will eat this up. Also, the 2 hour battery pack is kind of ludicrous, probably included because you have to have something, however Apple will have a double or triple charge option, and there will be a great deal of third party options
Most strikes me is the whole set o camera around and inside, and all the data they can collect and how you react and interact with things, not only what you say or click, but your degree of interest and what you have and what you don have at home will be available too... if you are 'happy' to see shows, or certain model, or this or that show, all in a Silver plate given to other companies like meta...
Many professional video cameras have what's called a "tally light" that shines red towards the subject when the camera is recording. Many professional camera operators either turn this lamp off or cover it with tape, for good reason. The presence of an obviously-recording video camera changes the reality in front of it, most commonly making people self conscious. That's not usually what's wanted.
I hope they implement Apple Pencil support
5:13 ok but imagine the dad sitting there with this thing on his head while they blow their birthday cake, just so weird
It won't be weird in the future when we're all wearing one 🤔
Even if you are willing to pay MSRP, they're producing so few that you'll likely have to go through a scalper.
I don't trust anything that watches my hands when I am on the internet, will this interfere with repetitive hand movements like back & forth or up & down? I don't want my screens scrolling all over the place, maybe it will disengage when it sees what my eyes are looking at and reengage when the movement and eye-contact has stopped. Just wondering
We all know what you mean by those sort of hand-movements... maybe turn it off when you're on "the hub"? 😂
With what they charge for a stand and what they charge for watch bands…the price for one of those bands could easy be outrageous
Given a set of four wheels for the Mac Pro are $699, I bet if you were to add a stand, extra headband and extra battery for this you'll be talking at least another $1000!
MKBHD says the eye-tracking is borderline "magic".
You'd hope so... for $3499! 🙃
5:33 the man is wearing a top headband. *still watching the video, may delete if not mention past this point.
