As someone who trusts Apple, I almost wish there was a way to opt in to turning on the same data points I’m already sharing with Google and everyone else. It takes courage to not even allow that.
I’ll believe it when I see it on my phone, I’ve been iPhone since the 4s and them asking Siri to show the weather as an example in their latest WWDC did not fill me with confidence.
I hate how all the game changing stuff about Siri is exclusive to an iPhone 15 pro, it’s annoying for those who got the regular 15 or even the IPhone 14 series which is only a year old and it’s already being left out on features.
I mean, yeh Apple shot themselvs in the foot by always year after year never wanting to put more RAM in their phones and this is the result cause AI requires more RAM.
Siri was definitely not the first. I remember when Siri came out. I had already been using Microsoft voice command on my device for several years. It even worked better than Siri did in that it was on the device and therefore didn’t need an Internet connection to work.
Sigh. Microsoft. They must be kicking themselves silly having a great ai product but no phone. The two epic fails were buying Skype and doing nothing with it and then stop making the Microsoft phone.
2 things: 1) I absolutely love that Aqara was a sponsor for this video. (SUCH solid HomeKit stuff. 👌🏼👏🏼) 2) I know a complaint is the limitation of iPhone 15 Pro or later but…it has processing power other phones don’t, people will eventually upgrade, and by the time people upgrade in 1, 2, or 3 years from now, Apple Intelligence and Siri will have matured/improved that much more. It’s a win-win. If someone’s so impatient as to not want to wait….then they can get a refurbished 15 Pro or newer later phone. (Or just wait ‘cause as good as iPhones are, they’re not forever…you’re gOnna upgrade some time sooner or later…)
So right. Also, while it’s frustrating as a 14 Pro user to not get access, I can see where this is coming from. When working with such sensitive data and so much of our personal information, it makes sense that Apple would want to keep that on-device and not send what is literally our entire digital lives and personal context up to the cloud.
The limitation to get this on older devices is not the processing power, it's the memory, Apple small AI model use about 4,2GB RAM (so the AI what running on your device not on a server), so with the system and the posibility to train the AI more (alias increase the data, which increase the required RAM even more) the 6GB memory simply not enough. A16 is a 1,5 years chip, it's designed more than 2 years ago, when the 8GB Memory looked unreasonable (as more RAM use more power, and you can't turn off or it's lose all of the stored data, so you must continously keep under power even in standby/idle mode, so not to clever idea to stack unreasonably much more memory like you need, because it's effect your battery life too). But now when the AI use about double amount of RAM like the games on your device (the 6GB RAM also a critical point of the current console level games, but that is also something what just started recently and didn't exists 2 years ago when the A16 chip was designed).
@@TamasKiss-yk4st Ohhhhhh that makes sense. Thanks for the insight! I’ll be curious what the RAM will be on the next iPhones moving forward. (Especially regular 16, 17, etc.)
I may have missed it in the keynote but the use case examples they used still had people looking at the screen for the answer. I am hoping it will be able to have a back and forth conversation with the user, keeping a transcription of course in your notes app or something similar to reference later.
You will get the iOS 18 update, but the AI features will be a different story, you need a device with 8GB memory to get all the AI features, and Siri 2.0 is also an AI feature.. so chip like A16 what is nearly 2 years old and designed nearly 3 years ago doesn't have that amount of RAM, because that was before the AI hype, they didn't focused on the memory (as it's impossible to turn off the RAM, it continously drain your battery even in standby/idle, not a clever idea to put way more memory like necessary in devices with battery, because it shorten the usage time, more RAM use more power to operate..)
I like my iPhone 14 Pro Max, but I become frustrated because sometimes Siri will come on without me asking her or what I do voice recognition it totally gets my responses wrong or auto correct for no reason in the wrong direction.

What’s your opinion on trying the developer beta on my primary iPhone which is a 14 Pro Max also considering that I am going to get a 16 Pro Max in September
You should not try any developer OS on your primary device, before the final release they are patching a lot of bugs what they found, and some of them are not a big deal for developers, but a big deal if you want to use it as a normal phone (like the calling function is not working properly is not an issue for a developer who is only use the device as debugging tool for his app, and his SIM card is in another device, but for a primary device that is a big issue)

Awesome video! I hope Siri is improved. The one thing that needs to be added is college baseball and college softball scores. They also need to add women’s college basketball not just men’s college basketball. I watch multiple sports.
The fact they didn’t even specify if the new Siri will also work on HomePods pisses me off. I’m like $2000 deep in HomePods throughout my home and Siri on them is absolute garbage.
Great vid. Thank you for sharing. Do you know which devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) will be able to support Siri's new features? I would think there would be a backward compatibility cap?
Great analysis on how corporate structure, politics and external factors affect a product. One of the reasons I like Pixel phones is how well the assistant works with apps like Gmail, Calendar and Contacts. Seems like iOS 18 has Siri integrated on an OS level and across platforms like Mac OS, iPad OS, which is crazy because when you start multiplying the number of devices there is. The computational power needed is huge but also integration is higher now. The walls of the garden got higher
I think they’re more referencing the project itself which was the ultimate hush hush project until they ~literally~ dropped the atomic bomb. The world changed.
Is there anyway that I can get the border around my screen like he does on his home screen? I like that and wished my phone has that! I have iOS 18 Beta 1 and if anyone can tell me how I can get the border around my Home Screen? Thanks
6:53 there is a forth reason. Google and Microsoft both had a 411 number that they used to eventually train Google Assistant and Cortana. That’s why these two assistants had the best voice recognition and understands what you say. Apple and Amazon never had something like that.

I imagine a lot of data collection associates through staffing agencies to run study protocols and along the studies provide feedback. The same thing for wearables. I used to do this work. If you're hired directly from the employer and not an agency the pay is a little more.
I don’t use Siri at all. Every instance of it is turned off in Settings, I mean EVERY instance in every app setting everywhere. I will NOT talk to machines, only humans.
When we get access, we inspect the traffic to see what data is sent. And to see if it’s truly local, we cut Wi-Fi and Cellular and see if it still works. Apple is trustworthy when it comes to this.
Remember this is apple we are talking about. Making everything cloud based would be going backwards in a way for apple. Making the apple "walled garden" approach not matter as much.
@shapyronyt183 even if you bought the A16 just one year ago, it's almost 2 years old chip, and they design it about 3 years ago.. so way before the AI hype.. the 6GB memory the problem, the AI model currently using 4,2GB RAM to run, and that will increase in time, as it's learning more and more.. and also your system use some RAM too, so the minimum criteria growed to 8GB for memory..
Before the conference where Vision Pro was announced you guys asked something to the effect of would Vision Pro be Tim Cook's legacy. Well, with this Al conference do you think this is Cook's new legacy?
Nice deep dive but two points: Siri actually started as a standalone app including on iOS before Apple bought them out. Also: Apple hasn’t actually demoed any of this stuff yet in real-time and has suggested it will be coming out “over the coming year“. Let’s hope it’s not merely “aspirational“ and also not another “AirPower” :-)…
!iPhone 16, when the bezel becomes Siri. That's if the bezel doesn't become the same colour as the backing of the phone or the metals used for the frame🤷🏼♂️
I think something that no one‘s talking about that may be an issue in the near future is (Storage) With AI being stored on devices128GB may not be enough on Base model Devices in the near future … So Apple will force you to upgrade and Pay $150 for 256GB for base model Devices … with future features and apps size this may be an issue. There was a reason why Apple upped the storage on Devices this year.
I hope it will it be able to do complex tasks in order such as apply luts to a video, and an intro and ending. Or be able to put branding materials/logos on a picture for a post or fill out a Contract. Which brings me to my second point that being Apple should have AI/Siri integration with some of the biggest apps for example it’ll find a post you described that you saw on Instagram or RUclips or your photo library and have it integrated with apps like Canva or CapCut regardless of whether or not if they have their own dumbed down version of AI. I hope it remembers who I am and what I do sort of like GPT-4o or as someone mentioned Jarvis to Iron man. In a way I would like it to be my personal assistant/second brain that just makes my life so much easier. It would amazing if it Prioritizes my daily tasks, reminders, important topics referenced to friends via text, call or anything else and events and I hear them in sequence when I double tap the action button.
I remember having frustrations with Siri most of the time when comparing it Google Assistant. I left the Apple ecosystem to get back to Google Pixel, but I have to admit that this is something that I find interesting and would like to see it happening in the Google Assistant. It feels like Apple have a more humane way of implementing technologies rather than Google. I do admit to have an affinity to Pixel devices, but by the end of the year I'll see if I stick around or jump to Apple.

I’m like $2000 deep in HomePods throughout my home and Siri on them is absolute garbage.
it wont work. They will release new homepods with A17 pro chip or M chip
Love this new documentary style. You should do this again sometime
Is the new Siri available after you install IOS18 or it different from iOS 18 that?
It won’t be on old iPhones until late 2025 but this Fall it will be a beta for iPhone 15 it said this on the Apple website.
Will the iOS 18 dev kits reach stores before its official release in September?
How do you get the glowing color changing border when bringing up Siri? I have the Beta but I still get the circular icon at the bottom
Not yet available in beta 1
Apple Intelligence isn’t coming to even the betas until this fall
Ok that explains it
How do we get the new Siri animation? Or is that part not live yet? I’m on the ios18 beta and Siri doesn’t look different
The new Siri is part of Apple Intelligence which is launching later and missing from the current developer Beta
@@snackbag-d2f thank you was annoying me I couldn’t find a way to equip it
Using this new version of Siri really makes you FEEL like spider-man
Hey Siri turn on the light Siri: “Kill mode activated” Wait what!?
Sam, you and Jon are great together and apart. What a perfect combination, each complimenting and augmenting the other.
Great video.
Will Siri 2.0 be available for all the ios 18 supported iphones?
The others took a vast lead in personal assistants as they didn’t care about privacy
What was missing at Apple was deep integration and collaboration of features.
There's been a lot of counterintuitive experiences.
Great vid. Thank you for sharing.
Do you know which devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac) will be able to support Siri's new features? I would think there would be a backward compatibility cap?
Don’t you have to try it for a while before you wax lyrical. I mean controlled demos are great but it’s real world use that’s important.
FPT’s influence is trickling down here too. And I don’t hate it ❤
I just wanna know if this is gonna tinkle down to my HomePod minis 😭 I really hope it does to some extent
Sounds neat but I'm not really a Siri person I rarely use voice commands usually just figure things out on my own
Great analysis on how corporate structure, politics and external factors affect a product.
Was this Apple's Manhattan Project?
they are going nuclear
Genuinely a seriously good question, perhaps it was
The apple-tomic bomb
I think they’re more referencing the project itself which was the ultimate hush hush project until they ~literally~ dropped the atomic bomb. The world changed.
THANK YOU SAM!!!!! BEEEEEN WAITING!!! APPLE TRACK & FPT & iOS 18 BETA IS SOLID ASF on iPhone 14 Pro Max
Sam you’re crazy informative. I love this channel!
Is it available on iPhone 12 series?
No 15 pro and m series iPads and Mac’s only
Is there anyway that I can get the border around my screen like he does on his home screen? I like that and wished my phone has that! I have iOS 18 Beta 1 and if anyone can tell me how I can get the border around my Home Screen? Thanks
That’s the new Siri interface, only shows when Apple Intelligence is active. No way to do that now
6:53 there is a forth reason. Google and Microsoft both had a 411 number that they used to eventually train Google Assistant and Cortana. That’s why these two assistants had the best voice recognition and understands what you say.
Apple and Amazon never had something like that.
What is the name of the wallpaper in this videos thumbnail/video?
This is one of the new wallpapers for iOS 18. They should be included on any device that updates.
@@brycejensen6729 Someone told me that’s the new Siri prompt for iOS 18.
Definitely apple focuses on privacy and overall user experience. Quality work takes time and efforts. Good explanation 👍🏻
Hi Sam got a question, will we have the new Siri on Apple Watch 10 ? A17Pro or M1 is what it will need right? Way too much power🤯
It will not be on Apple Watch
Way too much battery drain!
Apple Intelligence will only work on devices with at least 8 GB of RAM.
@@EweyhenYou sure not the Apple Watch X? I could see it making its way at least to the Ultra 3.
@@jamesn7156 Yes, the S series processors are no where close to the power required. It won't happen until there's a big leap in battery tech so they can put more powerful processors in the watch
After watching this, I'm now asking why is siri 2.0 bigger than i thought 🤔... Anyways, time will tell.
Just need to give us the ability to customize the Lock Screen. Maybe people don’t want the clock up top or widgets where they are
I just subscribed mate 👍
That was a very insightful video. Top stuff !
Google Assistant can already do most of this. I’m happy about the privacy, but who knows how private it actually is. I mean, do we just believe them?
Marketing is I suspect the answer. The holding your deleted photos for 2 years thing doesn’t bode well though!
When we get access, we inspect the traffic to see what data is sent. And to see if it’s truly local, we cut Wi-Fi and Cellular and see if it still works. Apple is trustworthy when it comes to this.
More so than Google anyday
So when is it coming?
THIS is the video I've been waiting for - thank you! 👍
bro honestly fuck the privacy I don't have an a17 chip to use this thing make it all cloud based 😭
Remember this is apple we are talking about. Making everything cloud based would be going backwards in a way for apple. Making the apple "walled garden" approach not matter as much.
Fr , and my a16 ?? Legit useless and i got this phone 1 year ago 💀💀 siri needs to be smart for once gawdam
Is there going to be ai photo editing like in Samsung? I haven’t noticed that mentioned
No hands on demo?
Feels like we should be on Siri 10.0 already
There is no reason to wait on this and if they do a wait list. That’s rediculous
Siri only understands strong American accent
!iPhone 16, when the bezel becomes Siri.
That's if the bezel doesn't become the same colour as the backing of the phone or the metals used for the frame🤷🏼♂️
I think something that no one‘s talking about that may be an issue in the near future is (Storage) With AI being stored on devices128GB may not be enough on Base model Devices in the near future … So Apple will force you to upgrade and Pay $150 for 256GB for base model Devices … with future features and apps size this may be an issue. There was a reason why Apple upped the storage on Devices this year.
Will not use Siri, I have it disabled.
does it work on ipad pro?
M1 iPad Pro
M2 iPad Pro
M4 iPad Pro
M1 iPad Air
M2 iPad Air
Can anybody in the comments please explain how can I change my system fonts like I download them but they don’t change please help me out
I hope it will it be able to do complex tasks in order such as apply luts to a video, and an intro and ending.
When is it going to be available ? I have download 18 beta and siri is still useless
Fall later this year once you got an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max
Awesome Video
I remember having frustrations with Siri most of the time when comparing it Google Assistant. I left the Apple ecosystem to get back to Google Pixel, but I have to admit that this is something that I find interesting and would like to see it happening in the Google Assistant. It feels like Apple have a more humane way of implementing technologies rather than Google. I do admit to have an affinity to Pixel devices, but by the end of the year I'll see if I stick around or jump to Apple.
