The rooms such as the living room, kitchen, and museum aren't the Apple fully immersed environments. They are in fact just a simulation of what your room would look like through passthrough mode.
This are “tech channels“ these days, when people need to explain them what’s happening, not them explaining to the people
although.. technically it might be possible to scan your room using an iphone and then upload the 360 degree bubble of your room as one of the environments? That is if Apple allows this?

@@manp1039since they allow panoramic photos in an immersive mode I’m sure you will be able to scan your own room (they already have that ability even on your iPhone) and turn that into an environment. On the other hand it’s kind of counterintuitive - why would I want to look at my apartment when I’m working on the beach?

There’s no way the Maps, Calendar, etc. apps won’t have Vision Pro-native versions. My guess is that Apple has left the iPad versions of those apps in the simulator to give devs a good idea of how iPad-native apps render on the Vision Pro if you don’t design a Vision Pro-specific experience.

The ported over versions probably exist but aren't ready to be shown even in the SDK yet. This is at least 6-9 months earlier than when the headset will ship, and also the first version of the OS. By the time the Vision Pro comes out it'll only be 3 months before they'll release visionOS 2.0.

This is a dev tool. Typically not a good user experience. But, even so, I want the headset more after playing with it. I suspect at launch some of the iPad apps will be native.

The "compatible apps" folder is full of apps that are just iPad ports. I watched some developer videos and a point made was any iPad app will automatically work as a part of visionOS out of the box, which is a great starting point for any developer.
Also the simulated 3D for side-by-side apps isn't going to look good unless you're able to physically turn your head to face each one, so I do think the multitasking will be better on the actual device they designed the experience around

4:35 Pretty sure those keys turning pink is a graphical bug, and also those scenes like the kitchen or living room are meant for app devs to get a better idea of what their apps will look like on the headset in different rooms and lighting conditions.
Also keep in mind we're maybe a year away from the headset actually shipping and this is simulating visionOS 1.0 Beta 2, it's not too weird that even some first party Apple apps are not ported over to visionOS yet. I don't know if you checked out Keynote but that's a pretty good example of an app fully optimized for visionOS as one of the features is you can simulate a conference room to practice giving your presentation. Who knows, maybe they'll integrate that with FaceTime in the future and you'll see people sitting in the seats in real time in that conference room. This is just the beginning.
An interesting thought experiment would be to compare how iPad multitasking and multi window looks when you compare it to how it functions in Vision Pro. For some reason I’m thinking that when you look back at how clunky we all thought multi window support was when they rolled out the new version in iPadOS last year now maybe it makes more sense when you think about how it works in Vision Pro?
Yeah, I think how easily you can switch between windows with just your eyes will make it way more efficient. I really think this will be a productivity game changer

Would it be possible to use a quest, connect it to the Mb and have a wish-vision-pro-experience?
Could be wrong but it seems from the available information that your eyes will be the cursor, not your hands so typing by looking at the letters and clicking your fingers together or drawing with your eyes and click and hold to start the line and let go to stop
The only thing I don’t understand is why isn’t control center just a window that’s directly accessible but hidden away in layers of menus that’s a really bad design since you have essentially infinite space to put windows
I’m glad we got to see the control center and notifications those two things seemed oddly absent in the keynote and the wwdc streams

If you log in your iCloud to that simulated Vision Pro, you would see it on other devices as "simulator". What's interesting is that the version section of this simulator writes "iOS15". So it's pretty crazy to imagine that this whole thing is engineered based on iOS15.

can you run the similator on a windows machine? and have you considered using virtual desktop to view the screen inside of VR on a Quest 2 with virtual desktop? to see what it is like in a kind of vr experience? if you can simulate or view stereographically, that would be a great addition for working with it.
it would also be great if Apple had a setting for viewing in simulated stereographic vision.. using the Red/blue filtered lenses. so essentially anyones desvice could simulate stereographice screen display
Also, there are some stereographic emulators that take 2D games and make them appear stereographic. You can occasionally find people in Big Screen that are streaming live 2D games in stereographic view for everyone in the room. it is quite good.

I hope there is or will be in the future be a zoom lens on the headset because I have a vision impearment and if there’s a zoom lens on the headset it would mean I could see thing for the first time in my life like my life
I can just imagine sitting on the lounge and being able to see the TV rather then having to sit on the floor or being able to see my computer screen from a distance rather then having my nose almost touching the screen or even seeing my family’s faces

@@utubekullanicisi Well I've done all I can do at the moment by making silly videos about 'Cancel Apple Vision', but the thing is, I really physically can't do anything without people who are willing to love their neighbor and want the classic balanced tech world to return. The people in my area just aren't interested in friendship, and there's nothing I can do about that. It's people's choice to love the natural experience of humanity and choose to be interested in other people. Adults keep choosing glass screens, and there's nothing I can do at the moment, I'm just a kid, I've done all that I can, I really need help to Make a Good Future.

What do you expect to see out of an simulated version it just iOS and yes all the native apps will be the same. I don’t understand what y’all think would be different because you are looking through an head set. Then the native apps look pretty much the same on every Apple device. Now maybe with maps they could make the 3D building protrude out the app frame for a immersive experience but i mean they’re giving us an vision pro don’t complain or expect too much more than we already know.

Just in case you are not aware of, this version of VisionOS is only a small portion of the actual OS to kick off the apps developers. The current one in Cupertino is a full version and has different build revision no.

I hope street view would be special in Apple Maps on the vision pro. Also do you think it would be like the iPhone with the vision and the vision pro. Maybe a vision pro max 😂
The developer sessions indicated that Apple prefers devs to be subtle with their 2D windowed apps which operate in the shared space, as to “be a good citizen” and not overwhelm the user. But they do encourage devs to include 1 or 2 unique immersive experiences which can only be had on the Vision (eg the Panorama view in Photos).
I imagine Maps will have a typical 2D view with amazing Street View and globe view experiences.

But something disappointed me a bit: you placed 2 apps side by side and that angle looked really … narrowed. Didn’t they shown us 3 apps which spread more panoramic? 🤔 that makes me think about the limits of that “canvas”
It doesn’t necessarily feel underwhelming. It’s more like they took the very safe route for software. In some ways, this is the “obvious” solution. Keep all the decades of development of various features in iOS iPadOS. I do feel it is a bit constraining. Where is the insane ready player one style future? This is basically an iPad on your face in many ways.

I remember we were obsessed with themes back when phones became smarter with colour screens. I guess it will be the same with 'environments'. But eventually, we will use this tech to argue with people. Imagine, a Twitter feud in the VR world in like 2030.

Widgets on this feels about as dumb as they feel on the Mac! I just feel like that’s a phone thing. With a home device like this, I’m not really worried about the Home Screen lol! With a phone on the go, you benefit from the widgets and the device is more personal to you as you can use the widgets to customize the screen. Let the Android vs iOS stuff go! This is a whole new platform!
@@Aggie4life77 I never said anything about Android vs. iPhone. I just can see them having widgets since you can have multiple screens I could see them having multiple widgets. Maybe they don’t. You do make some good points. I think they need to work on the widgets for the Mac. They are terrible right now on the beta mode and not as useful as I thought. Hopefully that changes and maybe they will grow on me. I love Apple and I’m a huge Apple guy so I’m excited for the new Vision Pro headset!

The idea of being able to use safari on an XDR display with such a powerful computer chip attached to my face, alone, is so fascinating. The thing is, when I'm using my Mac, I'm doing so on some sort of a break from work or when family is out or sleeping or whatever, and I am often having coffee or animal crackers (lol, ridiculous, i know). I wonder how weird it will be to try to eat and drink while using this as an actual computer replacement. It's just ---- i don't know how it could be better than just using a computer with nothing attached to my face. Also, when I'm watching netflix or whatever on my tv, I'm not 100 percent engaged with what i'm watching. I have things going on around me that I pay attention to. I think this would be awesome if I was always 100 percent engaged with my computer or tablet or tv, but if you're a casual user, it makes this device difficult to fit into your life. Even outside of the price tag, I can see why so many VR headsets just don't work with the mainstream. Anyway, i'm keeping an open mind, and i will certainly try it when it comes out. I just am not sure this is for me (although I really, really hope i'm wrong, because the idea of it is amazing).
I think one of the key benefits to this is not that it can do more than a Mac, but that you can take your computer/tv/movie screen anywhere. You could be lying in bed and all of a sudden be in a theater watching a movie with a floating safari tab browsing the web or using iMessage all while lying in bed. It essentially rolls your Mac, iPad, iPhone, and TV into one tool.

Interesting to note - the software update section states "for your Apple Vision." They didn't add Pro to the end of it. I think that pretty much confirms we will see different versions of the headset eventually!:)

We did hear rumors pre render that they were using fiberglass for the headset… which we didn’t see in the model w that was unveiled maybe it’s a different engineering variant that’s is lighter /cheaper

I don't understand why Apple didn't take this opportunity to make 3D icons and a 3D UI (with depth) ? Given the Vision Pro's capabilities and use case in a 3D environment, why are the icons still 2D as if they're just a 2D screen projected into a 3D environment? Instead of circles, can't the icons be floating spheres instead? That'll be cool
They have depth. The Apple design recommendation for VisionOS icons is that they should have three layers; when a user looks at an icon, it separates in the Z plane to show that it’s selected.
See comment above. I see what you are getting at, but don’t understand the point of it. I like their currents implementation. Don’t think so much! It’s just the user interface.
Apple is keen on not overwhelming the user with 3D elements in the “shared space” and they’re encouraging devs to do the same - to use mostly 2D elements, and sparingly implement 3D/immersive experiences, which can get out of control very quickly especially with more than one app running. The app icons and windows are flat for example, but Siri is actually a 3D sphere now which appears closer to the user than the windows.
It’s actually pretty troublesome to make an icon that makes sense and is legible on a sphere, with limited benefit. Also when you treat icons and flat windows as 2D, when you walk around to the backside they turn frosted white/clear, so you can recognize their position but still see through them.
