Thank you so much for sharing all this information. I plan to watch all of your videos! I appreciate the realistic information you share. I’m 3 weeks post op and you’re right, I joined the gym but I feel like I have less energy and stamina. I will probably cancel the membership. My doctor is keeping me on a liquid diet with one protein bar per day so far. I asked when I could get off the shakes. He asked if I can wait 2 more weeks. I hate the shakes because I have to do 2ml via syringe over 2 hours. I am not used to sitting for 2 hours per shake. I take care of myself, my disabled adult son and my disabled sister.

You have a full plate- focus on getting in what your doctor recommends and use your energy wisely! Exercise will happen when your body is ready- don't feel bad that that may not be for a while. Good luck!!

I Kaki, I'm a big fan of your videos and started watching you before my surgery on October 10, 2023. I am still struggling with constipation this far out, despite stool softeners. I know most people don't like to talk about this, but I believe it's something a lot of us struggle with after bariatric surgery and it would be helpful to have a medical professional, like yourself, give any tips, tricks and insight. Thank you for what you do.

Absolutely! The struggle is real :-) I will add it to my video list- thanks for the suggestion!

Love this. I'm just shy of 4 months post RNY. I'm physically active as a professional house cleaner and don't hit the gym as often as I think I should. I do garden, etc. Hydration and protein are still my main priorities along with vitamins. Thank you for your weekly videos.

Thanks for the video. I’m at three months. I would also like to see some on meal planning. I’m retired and struggle of going in the fridge and just trying to figure out what I’m going to eat. Have not had a history of meal planning for the week or meal prepping. Really would love to be able to do that so when I’m hungry, I can just have some things there.

Great video Kaki! I’m 3 years post op and still struggle getting “exercise” in my daily schedule but I work on my feet all day so I kinda count the 12,000 steps I get in as my exercise. I did force myself for a season to exercise and to be honest I didn’t see much difference on the scale so I stopped stressing myself out with it. For me what I eat everyday is directly related to the scale 👍.

Wow, 12,000 steps- I am impressed. You are so right- we are stressed out enough without worrying about something else!

Hi Kaki….. another great video….. I am 8 mos post RN-Y, lost 83 lbs and 44”…… only 24 lbs from goal. I am doing well. This is what I am struggling with…. I am a very good cook, and have stopped doing that mostly because my meals were very high calorie…. Pretty much will be giving my recipe book to someone else…. I work full time and I do the same thing for my breakfast and lunch…..and I am ok with that…. I don’t have to think about it…..B is protein shake and coffee with collagen peptides (44 gms protein). L is plain nonfat Greek yogurt, granola and protein powder mixed in yogurt (45 gms protein). What I struggle with is dinner. I am looking for just a few easy things I can meal prep for dinner….. can you help? I have done taco meat with cottage cheese, chicken salad, etc. I have tried cooked chicken many ways but can’t seem to tolerate it. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated! Thanks again! 😊

Congrats on your progress! Have you tried rotisserie chicken? It is so much more moist and I found that I could tolerate it before I could the chicken that I cooked. Also chicken thighs are more easily tolerated than the breasts, again due to moistness. I also cook beef roast or a batch of ground beef or turkey and use it various ways on salads, with a health veggie as a side, etc. I will do a meal prep video soon. Here is a link to the Pinterest board that I have a lot of the recipes I enjoy www.pinterest.com/kendah72/bariatric-recipes/mains/

My doc told me to just do walking 3 months out, nothing strenuous. I'm at the 4 month mark and I still haven't started. Most days I'm struggling to get in enough protein and calories overall and feel so exhausted after work.

I felt the same way at that point! Your job right now is focusing on that protein and learning to use your new tool!
