Adventure Motors KC is doing a build of one of these, they already have an aftermarket front bumper on it and it looks amazing. That one mod alone fixes the big visual downfall of this truck in my opinion, that front end.
Ok, so...this going to sound bad on my part and even though I love your reviews I literally stopped watching after the $66.85k price tag (starting price). No sales person is going to convince me to spend that kind of money on a vehicle...as well as Toyota only providing a 5 year 60k powertrain warranty...these days are crazy.
And maybe this truck isn't for you. There are 4-5 trims below this that might be a better fit. If not, there's the Tacoma. Or look outside of Toyota all together...
Good point on the warranty. Toyota has literally built their reputation on the reliability of their trucks, you would think they would have more confidence and provide a better warranty. I don't think any other truck manufacture offers a 10-year 100,000 mile warranty, that would have been a great feature of this truck.

Im curious because it sounds like it is sound deadened, and you mentioned the 'acoustic glass' as well; do you think that the sound system is lacking because of the physical hardware (speakers, amp, etc) or due to the "In House" Head Unit? I ask this because I put a pioneer HU (my first) in my 2012 WRX and it improved the sound dramatically by itself; I couldn't do the same for my subsequent Crosstrek and current Outback (as you know the HU is not double dinn anymore) so I was left rolling Kilmat all over my car - which magically made the sound system sound wonderful like the pioneer 'fixed' my WRX. This makes me think that these proprietary Harmon Hardon, or Tunda whatever-HUs are just programmed to feed power to the systems poorly?
And if you get down to test drive it, I think you will be shocked at how cheap it feels inside, and the fit and finish is not great and they didn't use quality products inside. You will notice how poorly designed the interior is as well. Toyota clearly didn't pay attention to the details
Some people saying this truck is overpriced reminds me how others said Landcruiser was overpriced, and Toyota withdrew it from US so they can buy Germany SUVs to depreciate and also unreliable. Then these days I see people looking for land cruisers but the prices of old ones are going up.
Haven’t completed the video but no. No chance Toyota has more luxury, tech or features vs. Ford. I’ve owned both and Toyota straight up punishes it’s customers and the “top trim” from a Toyota is a joke compared to what Ford offers. Ford: massaging seats, pedal adjustments, heated seats and wheel that actually HEAT, cooled seats (not ventilated like Toyota offers), real tailgate step, all LED lights, seats that feel like a lazy boy, multiple height lumbar support, TOW HOOKS, side mirror spot lights, spectacular cameras, on and on.

Actually when there’s an acronym in two languages illustrating FORD’s lack of reliability that’s a very telling sign. Found on Road Dead and Fix or Repair Daily in Spanish Fabricación Ordinaria, Rotura Diaria. It’s a shame, but Toyota products made in Japan specifically the Tahara plant are bulletproof (4Runner, LandCruiser, GX and LX). I wish I could say the same of our vehicles here in the States, really I do. I lived in Michigan and have owned Ford, Chevrolet, Cadillac and Oldsmobile so I have some experience in this regard. I also owned Nissan, SAAB, Volvo, Toyota and now a Lexus and there is a difference, the Japanese who les aren’t perfect, they’re just “better”, more reliable and better built. Cheers!
The only excuse Toyota could have for not putting a full-time 4wd system in the Tundra is cost savings. There’s no practical reason why part time would be better as long as you have a center diff lock option with full time. The 5th gen 4runner limited already has this so it’s not a matter of lacking the technology.

Yes. Everyone has what they like. But why would I need a full time 4wd? Most of the times you won’t use it and part time will be helpful to save off fuel expenditure.
The crazy thing is, on the 2000 to 2002 3rd Gen 4Runners, every single one of them came with a transfer case position for full-time 4WD. At least have an auto 4WD feature, that wouldn't be too hard to implement and could use a regular transfer case I believe.
If any of you live in a cold winter climate then you'd understand the need for full time 4wd. It's practical in situations where you need a bit more traction but also encounter some high traction areas. Set and forget.
I've owned several modern Subarus and haven't had any issues in terms of durability. Most of the concerns stem from older engines that they no longer produce.
At this price point, Lexus should seriously consider making trucks. Like GX 460 is to Land cruiser, and compete against Rivian and other high end trucks

ive had 2 suvs with it and it sucks imo it gives a false sence of security. at least here in maine, when you need 4wd you just hit the button. when your not on ice, snow covered roads its irrelevant

So, Toyota felt they didn't need to plaster their brand name in big block letters on the Capstone's (passenger) dash, but felt the need in the Sequoia? Instead, they just put "Capstone" in a thin ovelay/line break to remind you/let others know what you are driving. So is this the closest one can get to a "Lexus" truck (not SUV because Lexus has those)? I don't think they white interior bits will stay white for long....
The styling is growing on me, with the exception of the front end. I just don't really see the value here, I don't think this offers anything that the other truck manufacturers haven't already been offering for a few years now, and the interior while being a step above the last gen, just doesn't look that great. That huge screen is just overkill, and it looks so tacked on. I think Ram did a much better job of integrating a big screen. I think if one really wants a hybrid truck, the F-150 is probably the way to go. I don't know the pricing figures, but I know that with the hybrid system on the F-150 you can do much more with it, as far as using it to power accessories. Toyota said it didn't think that it's customers would want or need that feature, which seems foolhardy to me. Hopefully the reliability proves to be stellar with this vehicle, it really is Toyota's only selling point over its competition.

Seat massagers, leg adjustments, some finer materials throughout the cabin. The wood and leather are very nice but more metal and perhaps something a bit more exotic like crystal insert. But most critical at this price point: it should have automatic four-wheel-drive.
This is for a well-healed older gentleman who spends $70k+ on a luxurious truck instead of a Lexus LC or LS. These beds will never see any rocks or lumber.
This new drivetrain has a ton of low end torque, so with that characteristic alone it really shouldn't have issues with gear hunting. I know that's really the root cause of the gear hunting issue on the Tacomas. The engine just doesn't have the available grunt to keep the vehicle moving in the higher gears at low RPM.
that expensive truck need to step up with the good sound system as well, every others trucks with that kind high sticker price they never have cheap sound system... with out a good sound system in that truck still make me not satisfy with the truck. it very sad for a lot of customers still have to spend more money to up grad the sound system.. really sad..
Beautiful truck inside and out, personally I think the capstone, ultimate Denali and ram all look better on the interior than the F150, not to say it looks bad, but,… the features that Ford has to me blows them all out of the water. It has real, practical features that I think make all the difference in the price and final decision on people that are looking to purchase a new truck. Makes me wonder why none of them have tried to make their own features/extras that make them stand out. I dunno but love the look, awesome truck!

First off you're disingenuous at best, its much smaller in the back seat now and you said its got plenty of room, thats just a down right lie. Its smaller then the previous gen. And it doesnt look sophisticated, just shows how outdated Toyota is. And I just can't get over that's it's much smaller and cramped inside and it just doesn't feel quality. The center console slide is flimsy and cheap, the plastics feel absurdly cheap and even the soft touch areas are not that impressive. Add in its now worst in class head room, worst in class interior room, worst in class in turning radius with less visibility out of the front window it's just a let down. Add in the massive amounts of miss fires from small to big, this truck is and absolute embarrassment. You would have to be an absolute idiot to purchase this garbage

I think if they came out with a more modern version of the Aztec today, it would be a huge hit. Hey Ryan, may I ask your opinion on long term reliability and durability of a Subaru? Particularly in this case the Crosstrek? Appreciate your work.

They should make a blacked out trim, smoked lights etc with all the luxuries and call it the Brimstone trim. Just dark red/maroon and black.

I think it’s reasonable, and not terribly different to something like the F-150, which has a 23mpg combined figure for its Powerboost.

Asking the system to change the temperature does not sound like a chip shortage, rather they didn't pay developers to write the code to do this.
The Lexus NX with the same exact system can do it. I was specifically told it was because of a lack of chips.

Get the Ram Longhorn! Nicest interior, every option possible, 5.7 Hemi with a mid hybrid.... Obvious choice! Oh, and it is $67,000

First off you're disingenuous at best, its much smaller in the back seat now and you said its got plenty of room, thats just a down right lie. Its smaller then the previous gen. And it doesnt look sophisticated, just shows how outdated Toyota is. And I just can't get over that's it's much smaller and cramped inside and it just doesn't feel quality. The center console slide is flimsy and cheap, the plastics feel absurdly cheap and even the soft touch areas are not that impressive. Add in its now worst in class head room, worst in class interior room, worst in class in turning radius with less visibility out of the front window it's just a let down. Add in the massive amounts of miss fires from small to big, this truck is and absolute embarrassment. You would have to be an absolute idiot to purchase this garbage

@@boxoffisa the Aztec takes the cake for sure. It’s almost like they tried too hard with this thing. Grill is massively oversized. Headlights look weird and out of place. Body lines are horrid.

@@victorlabadia881 The Aztec isn't even really that bad, at least the ones that have the body colored plastic cladding. I think if they came out with a more modern version of the Aztec today, it would be a huge hit. The Aztec actually had some pretty cool features for its day, unfortunately in GM fashion they were poorly executed.
