    Since this video I have made a few more mods-
    1. Changed to an 828 Air Cleaner, not because it give anymore power, just liked the looks of it and also gave a bit more knee clearance
    2. Installed slip-ons with no baffles and 258 TTI's for better sound (for my ears) and more power
    3. Put an improved tune on it via the Power Vision
    Have a solid 14% increase in low and mid range power, along with a 1.5 mpg increase in efficiency.
    Many folks have a question about how 2 & 3 can have the results they do. Those questions are answered in this report- www.dkcustomproducts.com/harley-exhaust-myths-and-facts.htm

    I need to add an additional oil/air cooler to my bike since I live in Arizona. Summer is brutal if riding - which is why I don't ride it as much, unless I am getting out of the state and riding elsewhere. I have a lot of the same as you in regards to comfort for both me and the wife. I put the extender on the back to give the wife added space to sit. I bought the Rikrack, and like the fact it gives us so much more in regards to packing for long rides - easy off & easy on!
    I due wanna put the throttles on that keep my palms/finger from going numb during longer rides. The trike has been great, and I can say that I've been riding motorcycles since 1976 - first time owning a trike, and will stay with a trike to they put me in the ground! I've gotten on the DK website and have looked at a few items, that will help my trike in the long run, but will have to have somebody put them on. I am limited to what mechanical things I trust myself doing? Again great RUclips site!! 👊respect👊

      Many of our parts are easier to install than might first appear. Besides many videos showing installation procedures, on each product page is an Instructions tab you can click, so that you can see the written instructions that come with each part.
      Getting them to ride cooler and more comfortably is among our highest priorities. Here are a couple of links you may find useful.

    I love my 2019 TriGlide and like some of the awesome upgrades you've done. I've only had mine for a few months but have gone on a few long distance rides. I was curious what kind of fuel economy you're getting. If I'm running down the interstate at 80mph I'm typically pushing 3200-3300 rpm and get a horrible 32 mpg. But on back roads that typically slower speeds, I get a respectable 45-48 mpg. Just curious what your experience has been and what, if anything you've done about it. Thanks for all the great videos!

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  4 года назад

      That's pretty good both at speed and on back roads. I rarely cruise casually enough to get 48 mpg....but have a few times. At 80 mph with no headwind, and on level ground, I might get 32 mpg. If I drop down to 69 mph it will jump to the high 30's. Reducing heat and a good tune, along with good spark plug wires are the best way to get the best mpg. (assuming an EBS equipped free flowing air cleaner and unclogged exhaust are already in the mix). Glad you're enjoying your TG, we really like ours!

      Cool, glad you are liking the videos.
      I've had a 2011, 2014 and now a 2019 Tri Glide. Never had the brakes fail, they have always worked well for me. I do know that some Tri Glide owners don't like how you have to press so hard on the brake pedal.
      In 2019 and early 2020 there was a software problem with the RDRS system, which made the rear brakes work wonky. That has been resolved. Link below on a video of that. Other than that I've not heard of any brake failure.

      We do not make the rear bumpers. That was a one-off...and though it is a great bumper, it is a PITA to mount, it was difficult to make, and would be very expensive to ship...thus we have never added it to the line of parts we make for resale.

    Great walkabout Kevin. Some questions arose for me. 1) the longer shifter arms .... are they available for purchase from you or HD? 2) from the toe of your left boot it looks like you use the toe shifter only, if so why keep the rear shift arm on the bike? 3) Can you give a link to the analog dip stick please? and does if fit without modification and give true oil level readings? Can you identify the seller of the sheepskin for us? Thanks and be sure to keep us posted re the front suspension trials. Cheers from Toronto

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад

      I believe it is a V-Twin brand. Pretty sure J&P carries them. I do use the toe shifter 90% of the time. At one point I removed the rear lever to give myself some more room. But I found that the few times I do use the heel shifter, I really missed it. So put the longer rear lever on there for when I do want it.
      www.jescustomaccents.com/Black-Faced-Temp-Gauges_c37.htm for oil temp dipstick. There is a collar you install (no drilling or mods, just put it on) that the dipstick fits into. It has a smaller fill hole, so you will either need to remove the collar, or, what I did, get a funnel with a smaller end. Works fine for me. You will need to know where your preferred oil fill level is. The dipstick only has one mark on it, and you will need to know where you want your oil level in relation to it. I have had this less than 2 years, so cannot attest to the longevity. The first one I got malfunctioned within a couple of months...it was immediately replaced under warranty. We'll see how long this second one lasts....it has been about 1.5 years and working well. It does give accurate temp readings.
      I do not remember who we got the sheepskin from...it has been 15+ years. I do know a bunch of folks that have used alaskaleather.com/collections/sheepskin-buttpads and been happy with them.
      Yes, we are still testing different front suspensions...I have not settled on one that I prefer yet.
      Glad you enjoyed the walk around.

    We have just finished putting 10,000 miles on our 2017 trike. The Comfort Lift Kit was our first upgrade and it had made a world of difference.
    If considering the Mighty Mite Cooling Fans verses HD CoolFlow what are the pros and cons?
    In the mean time I am going to go pull the left side air deflector off and see how much it helps. Ir's a zero cost modification I am willing to try.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  4 года назад

      David, sounds like you're enjoying your Trike! Good to hear you're liking the Comfort Lift Kit. The Mighty Mite Cooling fans will cool down your engine much more than the HD CoolFlow. The CoolFlow's primary design/purpose is to pull the hot air off the rear cylinder that would normally radiate out to the passengers legs and force it down under the Trike. The Mighty Mites primary design/purpose is to actually lower the temperature of the engine...that way there is less heat radiating out to both the rider and the passenger. Here is the link to get the Mighty Mites, if that is what you decide to get- buylovejugs.com/?ap_id=DKKevin

    I like the idea of the safety teather for the tour pak. Look like a person could make one. Is that what you did, or do you manufacture them?

    • @DKCustomProducts

      We just made one of paracord with a loop on each end. One end attaches to one of the nuts on the lid, and the other end to one of the fasteners that holds the stock tether. Super easy, and inexpensive. Packaging and shipping would cost 50x more than the cord. We do not manufacture them.

      Have not even thought about it. 150-220 miles between long haul fill ups has not been bothersome. When we rode up to the Arctic Circle was the only time we needed more fuel than 6 gallons to get to the next gas station...and we carried an extra 2 gallon tank...we only had to use it 3 times in the over 11,000 mile trip.

    I thought the new m8 didn't run lean?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад

      It doesn't. Did I say it did in the video?
      It does run hot, but not because it is lean.
      The difference on a lean twin cam and a properly tuned twin cam is only 10-15 degrees.
      Both a Twin Cam and a M8 Run Far TOO Hot from the factory, and a good tune does not fix that. Below is a video series on the subject.
      Not sure that is what you are referring to.
      The M8 will run better with a good tune, but it is not a bad OEM tune and it will not damage the engine to run the OEM tune with hiflow intake and exhaust. (that is on a 2017-2020, we have not tested the 2021 yet)

    You will lose back pressure when you remove the cat. Take it from me, it’s a very significant power loss.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад

      Myth #1 “Back Pressure is good”

      Back-pressure fights AGAINST performance. Back-pressure holds back power, not unlike a 350 lb. rider will reduce acceleration more than a 150 lb. rider.
      The reason some folks think that back pressure is good, is because when they put a baffle in (which creates back-pressure) the bike runs stronger. BUT, it is NOT running stronger because of the back-pressure, it is running stronger in spite of the back-pressure, because it is reducing Reversion. (see above on how reversion robs power)
      It is wrongly assumed that the back-pressure that baffles create increases power. It is the reduction in reversion from baffles that increase power.
      The baffle is reducing power because of the back-pressure, but it is increasing power by Reversion reduction. In most cases the power gained by reduction of reversion is More than the power lost to back pressure, so there is a net gain of more power.
      But it is IN SPITE of back pressure, not because of it.

      What would be best is if there could be a reduction of reversion WITHOUT an increase in back pressure.

      I am sorry. We are better now with the audio.
      We are still much better at making parts than making videos.
      Perhaps try watching on a different device that will have more volume?
