Dutch asking “who’s with me and who’s betraying me?” just after Micah shot Miss Grimshaw, who was one of the most loyal people out of the gang just shows how much he lost it at that point.
Creepy Joe asking who’s with me and who’s betraying me after Obama shot Kamala Harris out of frustration at trumps success really goes to show how much the democrats lost it and trumps the chosen one to save us
There is a camp interaction where Dutch goes off on her like he does on John and Arthur. So Micah had convinced him that Ms. Grimshaw wasn't loyal either, since she questioned his "Plan"
The moment Hosea died was the moment the gang was doomed. Hosea kept Dutch in line for the most part. He was the only guy I think could’ve talked some sense into Dutch.

I feel like the saddest part about high honor Arthur is the broken, almost crying voice as he said "he’s a rat Dutch, he’s a rat" even as he’s dying he still tries to warn Dutch
I got shot in the head by Micah on the cliffside. I was waiting for Dutch to see Micahs betrayal and put a bullet between his eyes. Sadly Arthur does not get a happy ending. 😔
@@arthurmorgan835 that means you done lot a bad things and choose wrong decission buddy dont that bullshit micah got killed by jhon and arthur was avenged
It's because Arthur still loves Dutch, at the end he's still pleading with Dutch saying he "gave all he had", like he's trying to make sure his dad is proud of him and not disappointed before he dies. Right up to his death he's still trying to warn Dutch, hoping that he'll turn back to what he remembered him as. It's ironic how as Arthur accepted the loss of Dutch as a father, he allowed the responsibility for himself to graduate into a father for John, since John lost that in Dutch too.
@@DragonSchizo No he doesn't or, at least not in my opinion. If you had to grow up the way he did and then get taken by the government and in the end when you finally think it's over your father dies and you have to see he's lifeless blood soaked body, then bury him. A year or two later your mother dies. How would you feel? What would your look on life be? What would be your attitude? I don't blame him in the slightest.
Johns hits harder to me at least. His death was unexpected and incredibly violent. Arthur was a good character but just not the level of badass John was. His death was painful too but it wasn't the same. The second he was diagnosed with TB I knew he was done for, as it was fatal back then.
@@xxmadmax999xx I remember John's death being the biggest shock I've ever had in a game at the time, maybe to this day. You gotta give rockstar props though. As for Uncle.. well it wasn't the bullet that killed him. When it hit his flesh it travelled through his body and struck his spine agitating his already very serious lumbago even further. Sadly this caused him to then soil himself loudly, complain his back hurts and then finally succome to his lifelong struggle with the terminal disease Poor old Uncle I'll forever think of you when i lift heavy things RIP
The fact that Dutch chose to believe a man he rode with for almost a year over the guy he basically raised is astonishing. Arthur seemed like he was trying to keep Dutch "sane" (for lack of a better term) like Hosea did.
He saw John and Arthur as sons. Hosea could reason with him since Dutch saw him as his equal and they were partners too. Since he raised and taught john and Arthur, he could never see them as people from whom he could take advice. Keep in mind Dutch's plans were all crashing down, one after the other coupled with his own anguish over his losses and the recent deaths. He took sole responsibility for everything, when he should have admitted his defeat and sought advice and counsel from his "sons" and fellow gang members who cared for him instead of going on a revenge, hunting down his rivals for good. He had to let himself open to others compassion, but he cocoons himself because he is too proud of a leader. Its sad story all round this rdr2.
@@brwill4223 that would explain his erratic behavior. But I think he just got paranoid after some of the other older gang member started to betray him I think that pushed him over the edge.
Another reason for it is because Arthur and John kept doubting his plans which made him think that they dont trust him anymore while Micah was asskissing him making him think that he will be on his side no matter what
Dutch was slowly getting desperate, specially with the Pinkertons on their tais. He made aggressive bold dangerous plans which were put in doubt for other members, and only Micah who was also that aggressive liked those plans. Hosea was Dutch thinking counterbalance, and when he was killed, and Molly confessed she told the Pinkertons the robbery plan, Dutch became more paranoic and aggressive, siding more and more with Micah than the family who started to doubt him for his own good.
Arthur to John, before the gang completely fell apart: “You’ve gotta run and not look back.” John to Abigail and Jack, moments before his death: “Keep riding, and don’t look back.”
And in the end, whether willingly or not, neither John nor Jack were able to do that-- to leave the gang or that way of violent life behind them. I never really thought about that until your comment just now :(
@@AspenFireflyGaming Jack may as well be a guard, married, have 3 kids, but also stayed up long at night or was gone somewhere, making his wife concerned, when in fact he was researching where he could find Ross. He didn't want anyone but him. Then he left to his town somewhere in the West States. There were no gangs up that point or rare. So he was working solo. Or at least that's what I like to think, sooner or later the revenge cycle ends, no one else left to kill. The states are too big, you could have easily disappeared back then if you wanted to. He shot Ross probably just 4-6 years later, right in the middle of the first world war and before the rise of the mobs in the 20s.
@@pewpew1943 I wish there was a ending to where you and John make it out and Arthur gets the rest he needs cures his tb and you can switch between characters like in gta5
Grimshaw's death hit me the hardest. With all of them, even Lenny who didn't get a proper cutscene, the gang members acknowledged that someone had passed, making comments and arrangements to tend to the body. Grimshaw was the lady of the gang who took care of the camp and kept it running efficiently. She basically helped raise a number of the gang members. When Tilly went missing, she demanded she and Arthur hunt the bastard down and insisted he be killed for touching one of her girls. Then she was shot and left for dead in the dirt, crying out in agony and no one was moving to comfort her or put her out of her misery. She loved on all the gang members like a mother, then was put down like a dog. It stings that this older woman did so much and in the end got so very little.
she deserved better. I love that she saw through Dutch and the others and took Arthur's side, too. Micah's such a snake, and Dutch was crazy for not seeing that until Arthur's death.
@@corsojameshoseas death hit dutch hard, micah wouldn't have got as close to dutch if hosea survived since hosea was 2nd in charge and that wouldn't of changed if he was alive

YUp, He lost the one he trusted most 1st, then lost himself, starting to lose trust in people because Micah was the snake in his ear. We dont see it before it's too late but it easy to undestand when Dutch make you go save Micah. He acted already like he 100% trusted Micah. This is a great indicator that he lost his moral compas even before the story begin and trusted bad people. In the end, he lost everything. This is a tragedy.
Arthur’s last breath in high honor really had me staring at the screen for a good 15 minutes.. Rdr2 is in my humble opinion one of the greatest free roam games ever made. The storyline, the characters, the journey throughout the map had me invested like nothing before. Hats off to the developers at Rockstar for this masterpiece!!
Then you login to RDR online expecting same freedom sandbox fun with even more expanded world, but all you get is shit and garbage. RDR2 single player without story is better western sandbox than online version.

That fact that John was shot to hell by 20 men and still managed to stare them down with the look of a man saying “I won’t die like some dog” is still mind blowing even after 11 years
John was a beast, they needed an army to take him down, and even then, John was the one who chose to die here so Abigail and Jack could live in peace, he probably could have killed all the soldiers if he wanted to.
@@Alex-zd6xh sadly thats not true, there is no way john could have killed them, and he sadly didnt choose to die, he was doomed, he just choose to die with dignity and save what he had left, his family

Sean's death honestly set the tone for the rest of the game. Michah's phsycophathic response to his death forshadows his betrayal later. I knew from that moment "Oh were all gonna die."
Bro, Duth's death is Bill and Javie's death, it's not their fault, it's also very sad, the one who made Duth's head was Micah Bell's mouse, Jon's, man, it's sad, dms
Uncle’s death was the most redeeming and sad death for me. He lived his life as a coward and people always made fun of him and looked down on him. Yet in his final moments he chose to stay and help John protect his family. He knew he was dead the second he saw those soldiers and agents riding to their home but he chose to stay this time cuz he knew protecting John’s family was worth it unlike the gang when they split in two and were going mad. Like the joker said from the dark knight how people show their true selves in their final moments before death.
There is a theory that Uncle is actually Red Harlow from Red Dead Revolver. The age checks out and he said he used to be called "The one shot kid". Maybe he wasn't as lazy as he let on.
@@wolfeye8923 I'm aware of that... The sad part in RDR2 is that you can see everyone that would side with Arthur at the end were killed along the story, which created the final finale stand-off.
@@blossom10799 You notice it more if you go into later chapters after Saint Denis that Javier actually starts to become more distant from Arthur and more close to Micah. Just spend time around the camp and you’ll see them together talking and they’ll even ask Arthur to move on and let them talk.
What about Sadie though, think you missed that one. She became much closer to Arthur at the end, and said he was the best man she knew since her husband. And then also, Charles.
I just completed Rdr2. And now after watching this, i cannot hold back the tears anymore. Everything Arthur fought for fell apart. I feel so bad for John, he was betrayed. Seeing Abigail and Jack watching over John's corpse is truly gut wrenching. I still remember how John raised Jack and proposed Abigail in the epilogue of rdr2. I wish rdr had a happy ending.
I think Sean’s death hit me the hardest just because I wasn’t expecting it at all and it set the scene for how the story was going to progress from there. It kinda planted in that seed of hopelessness that grows as you progress through the game…
@Tranhoang Long Nah, it was Bill that time. Bill's a dumbass and mentioned he'd been drinking with the Grey boys beforehand trying to find a job for the gang to do, made it way too obvious. Arthur should've wasted both of them right then for Sean's death and Micah touching his body with his foot.
One of the saddest deaths for me was Miss Grimshaw. She was so protective of the entire gang and she was the first and only one to say something when Tilly went missing and showed zero mercy to Anthony and insisted he killed her because he kidnapped Tilly. She was a bit strict, but she was mainly doing it to protect the gang. She will always be one of my favorites

An overlooked death to me atleast is Kieran, he died when he was first beginning to get into the gang comfortably, we died when he was just then becoming apart of the family, just for him to die.
He never truly joined the Van der Linde gang, he was killed in a rather brutal way, his corpse is used as a threat, and he is swiftly forgotten by all parties concerned. To Colm, he was a faceless body that betrayed him, nothing more. To Dutch and company, he was more of a prisoner than a companion for the majority of his time with them.
@@rulebritannia8438 I have to disagree there. Sure he wouldn't of been apart of the Saint Denis Robbery, but I can guarantee he would've helped when the group got stuck in Guarma, of course getting push back from Sadie and other groups. Sean's was one of the most jarring deaths I've ever experienced. It's a perfect representation of the life of an outlaw. One minute you're having a casual conversation, and the very next second, kapow, your friend, who had an entire life story, a whole ass person that you've come to know, fucking dead, gone, ended. It's so sudden, and it's so perfect to absolutely lurch the player into a sense of "oh fuck this is real." Lenny's and Kieran's were both equally the saddest. I was expecting those two to escape the gang, for Kieran to find redemption, for Lenny to escape the life, but again, suddenly, no warning, gone. What a perfect way to illustrate how easy a story can come to an end.
this is what all of the idiots who want war need to understand, I've lost a lot of armenian friends during kharabakh war, some of them are the people i grew up with, went to the same school. now they're 6 feet under and I never had the chance to visit their grave. we had history together and I'm left with regrets that I didn't have a chance to share their faith, couldn't support them while they were alive except sending money for cigarettes. all of them were young and perspective, some even wrote books, made music, art, now they're gone. His death reminds me of the death of Captain André Matias, from the Brazilian movie Tropa de Elite: O Inimigo Agora É Outro (2011). The guy got shot in the back and that was it. No flashy cuts, no dramatic moments, just pure and plain simplicity, which makes it even more tragic.

After seeing how Dutch looked like in rdr2, I couldn’t believe that he’s the same person in rdr1 even though I played the first game first. They’re like two different persons. In rdr2, he dressed lavishly with jewelry and nice outfits. He had the most beautiful horse in the gang and had two or three (I think he loses one schofield revolver during the shipwreck in guarma since one of them is replaced with a double action while he’s there) beautifully custom revolvers. He had his hair done and facial hair styled. In rdr1 he looks so broken and looks like as if he doesn’t care anymore. He looks like a homeless. And he’s using a pistol and has a huge gang now. Also in rdr2 he talked shit about colm saying how his gang is too big and how he doesn’t give a shit about any of them as long as they can kill and ride and are big in numbers. Yet he’s doing the exact same thing in rdr1. His life is a tragedy imo
Honestly I think these games show how people change so well, like with Dutch. In RDR2 they act like noble criminals (in conversations) and mention they use to be virtuous but somewhere stopped. By the time of the first game gangs don’t do anything like that, they’re just violent. I think Dutch went from one side of the spectrum of noble criminal to where we find him by 1911. One of my favorite character arcs.
John's death in my opinion is much sadder than Arthur's because Arthur's death was expected and we had time to say goodbye to the character but with John when RDR1 came out there was no way of knowing that John was going and was so fast and unexpected and John held up his end of the bargain with Ross and his men but yet he was double crossed and eventually killed just because Ross wanted to take all the credit for being the one to end the Van Der Linde once and for all

I can’t bring myself to hate Javi, and I don’t know why. Sure, they have to have him become a dick late game to justify his character in RDR, but he was such a humble and charming guy early game that I feel sort of conflicted with the character he eventually becomes.

I’m sure they had something very basic written but further developed it when making RDR2, like the fact that none of the other members except the ones John chases are mentioned in the first game In a realistic stand point it’s just because they just weren’t created yet, but in a story point it’s probably because John sees “The Gang” and “His Friends” as two different groups of people and doesn’t wanna associate the good people like Arthur, Charles and Sadie(and the ones dead of course) with the likes of Micah, Bill, Javier and Dutch

No thats his death if you go back for the money, the honour changes if micah finishesh you off or lets you bleedout It also changes the the cutscene you get after arthurs death, (Wolf = Low, Deer = High)
For me, John's death is the saddest one. Arthur's is dramatic, but after we discovered he had TB, everybody expected he was going to die. He was cursed. After we kill Dutch in RDR1, everybody believed it was over, that John could finally join his family and live peacefully (more or less).
John's death is undeserving, sure Ross already said "Your Father died becauss of his sin" To Jack. But Ross did him dirty Meanwhile Arthur's death is definitely deserved, kinda like Walter White situation, where he finally able to legitimately redeem himself, and he died not from the pinkertons, not from Micah, not from anyone other than the TB which is a result of his sin to Thomas Downes. I personally prefer Arthur's death since we already expected him to die but still managed to make us cry anyway. But John's death is one hell of a gut-wrenching moment in the entire franchise.

Nah. Without Arthur’s realization of Dutch’s madness, which happened before he knew he was dying, John never would have had a story to tell. Arthur gave everything to save people he cared about and had wronged. John was given a second chance and chose to still be a puppet. Arthur Morgan. RIP
The way John was breathing as he died was so heartbreaking. Just knowing it had to have been hell, especially knowing he couldn’t protect his family anymore. Even if it is just a video game……it was so emotional for me, especially the utter silence as he died.
All of these deaths had impacts in a different way. But for me John's death hit me the hardest. You just see him grow so much as a man from RDR2 to RDR1. And just to see him walk out of the barn and get shot up and stand there dying just is a gut wrenching sight for me. But Arthur's was depressing as well and Sean's was just a complete surprise that came out of no where.
I believe so too. It makes me sad because he tried to change for his wife and kid. Abigail didn't want anymore troubleand just wanted to grow old raising a ranch and a son but the moment John killed Micah that's when he screw it all over again.
Lenny is such an underrated character. Apparently he was supposed to be a lawyer or doctor or something, and especially during that time, he coulda really set up his family well. Got misled and killed bc of Dutch. Hits especially close to home
I don’t think Lenny would’ve had much opportunity considering he was black and the civil rights movement didn’t start until the 1950s or around there. He probably would’ve lived a secluded life especially since he was already a wanted outlaw since the age of 14 for killing his fathers killers
God how is he overrated, literally everyone always ''memes'' about him and acts like his interactions and missions were the best ever. If anything he is overrated, but its probably a bunch of SJW virtue signalling because he is the only black guy in camp
Hosea was definitely about to have a Rick Grimes “we can all survive this” speech if Milton didn’t kill him. He didn’t expect to die that sudden and in that position. But all he ever wanted was Dutch and the gang to be safe. You can at least tell he was still gonna stand his and the gangs ground with death staring at him
The simbolism is literally the opposite tho? He let go off his weapon, becuz he didn't want to die as a gunslinger till the end, he let tbe past go even if it caught up to him. He didn't want to die with a weapon on his hand
@@parkyamato9450 That doesn’t mean anything lmao he dropped the gun because he was literally shot up. If he didn’t want to go out like an outlaw he wouldn’t have opened fire before getting gunned down, he would’ve let them just shoot him there or take him in to hang him but he wanted to die a gunslinger which is why he drew on them and emptied his gun into the crown before dying
For me it’s hard to decide wich death is the most saddest between Arthur and John, Arthur only tried to keep everyone from dying only to get betrayed by Micah and left behind by Dutch, while John’s death was exactly what you said
@@liamrichardson4976 (depending on what you got with Arthur) but low honor on the mountain is worse in my opinion.

The fact that Dutch chose to believe a man he rode with for almost a year over the guy he basically raised is astonishing. Arthur seemed like he was trying to keep Dutch "sane" (for lack of a better term) like Hosea did.
There’s a theory that during the post office robbery when the trolley explodes Dutch’s head injury effects his brain
Arthur to John, before the gang completely fell apart: “You’ve gotta run and not look back.”
John to Abigail and Jack, moments before his death: “Keep riding, and don’t look back.”
Goes to show how well RDR1 John was written that they re used multiple of his lines with other characters in RDR2.
I just get the feeling that john was inspired by arthurs words
And in the end, whether willingly or not, neither John nor Jack were able to do that-- to leave the gang or that way of violent life behind them. I never really thought about that until your comment just now :(

There were no gangs up that point or rare. So he was working solo. Or at least that's what I like to think, sooner or later the revenge cycle ends, no one else left to kill. The states are too big, you could have easily disappeared back then if you wanted to.

It's so sudden, and it's so perfect to absolutely lurch the player into a sense of "oh fuck this is real."
Lenny's and Kieran's were both equally the saddest. I was expecting those two to escape the gang, for Kieran to find redemption, for Lenny to escape the life, but again, suddenly, no warning, gone.

The way John was breathing as he died was so heartbreaking. Just knowing it had to have been hell, especially knowing he couldn’t protect his family anymore. Even if it is just a video game……it was so emotional for me, especially the utter silence as he died.
Damn rockstar you really know how to make someone cry
They sure as hell do
they know how to create a game
they worked so hard as hell so HARD!!!

I'm a grown ass man still crying every damn time when I watch that scene.
"Now it don't feel right? I coulda told you tha-"
@@majik5194 Bro, I did not see the one coming. It was quick and brutal.
He died... still not knowing how to swim
@@TheBestPybro I know. I feel like he should've learned before he died.
@@GLKHD seethe and cope
@@rudywilliams6538 but he's right tho, Lenny is one of the best side characters. Other than Sean.
@@TheBigCheesez I literally agree with you
Dutch’s pistols were silver early in the game but when you started to become more unhinged his pistols are black
Nice detail
I've noticed that they were silver but the can't just change black
I think he lost them in guarma so he got new ones?
I dont remember for sure but i think he had schoefield first then double action
Hosea was definitely about to have a Rick Grimes “we can all survive this” speech if Milton didn’t kill him. He didn’t expect to die that sudden and in that position. But all he ever wanted was Dutch and the gang to be safe. You can at least tell he was still gonna stand his and the gangs ground with death staring at him
Arthur's death was easily the most emotional but the best one is John's in my opinion. Went down with a gun in his hand protecting his family.
As a Arthur fan, i agree with you
The simbolism is literally the opposite tho? He let go off his weapon, becuz he didn't want to die as a gunslinger till the end, he let tbe past go even if it caught up to him. He didn't want to die with a weapon on his hand
@@parkyamato9450 and throughout the whole first game johns forced to be a gunslinger to save his family which is how he died
No its arthur>>>>
John’s death was probably the most heartbreaking for me, he did everything he could to keep his family in the end but got shot instead.
For me it’s hard to decide wich death is the most saddest between Arthur and John, Arthur only tried to keep everyone from dying only to get betrayed by Micah and left behind by Dutch, while John’s death was exactly what you said
Same here just the way he was still alive with 14 bullet holes in him he was still in pain before he fell to the ground and his family members saw it
@@liamrichardson4976 (depending on what you got with Arthur) but low honor on the mountain is worse in my opinion. Alone, Dutch betraying you, weak and staring into a gun barrel in your final moments, the one person you purely hate shooting you in the head and laughs afterwards.
