I played RDR2 as a prequel to RDR1 knowing nothing about the plot besides what the name implied. I genuinely thought Abigail was the traitor because of how they mentioned her getting away in Saint Denis. Just seemed too convenient. I thought she had a deal with the law to keep her and Jack safe at the cost of the gang. And Micah seemed, as you said, way too obvious. Obviously doesn’t make sense if you know the plot of the first game but it made sense with no other context.

  • @everettgaspar3482

I love how the whole game you're denied every chance at a satisfying confrontation with any of the main villains. Colm, Cornwall, Bronte and even Milton get unsatisfying deaths that really just leave you disappointed and hollow feeling. But it all changes in the final confrontation with Micah. He's the only one that you get to personally pump full of lead for what he's done and it beautifully releases all that satisfaction that you were denied throughout the whole game.

I would argue that Bronte and Colm's deaths were both pretty satisfying, at least to me. I would agree that Milton's death was pretty lackluster, though. I would also agree that Micha's was the most satisfying death in the game. No other "final boss" fight has given me the same feeling I got after shooting Micah in the balls 6 times.

Bravo Sherlock… but for real tho… I can’t fkn imagine that Dutch couldn’t put the pieces together all along, and that he trusted Micah… who even in mentality is evil and reckless and only joined like a month before the Blackeater gig, he trusted this obvious problem maker more than his so called son Arthur who he basically brought up, and who was always loyal to him. Greed got the best of Dutch.

      @gambinobah8864 4 месяца назад +4

@@bonecrushra.k.a.improwise753I think it’s a mixed of greed but also Dutch probably relating to Micah in the way of his dark thoughts.
Dutch for all of his so called good deeds was nothing more than a thief and a cult leader trying to play hero and revolutionary.
While he might have helped these people who were considered outcast in society he also held them back as we’ve seen during the epilogue with people like Mary Beth, Tilly, Pearson, and John. Imagine the happy life Arthur may have gotten if he wasn’t so loyal to the gang and the man who raised him. Imagine what a smart man like Lenny could have become if he didn’t die at a young age because of reckless people like Dutch.
Dutch was the man who helped comfort sadie, he was the man who saved Javier when he escaped Mexico and was starving near death and he did raised two orphan children but in the end when shit hit the fan like it always was going to with the lifestyle he was living he chose to triple down and endanger the lives of all those people he once showed care for.
The man Dutch had so many chances to help these people but instead used them as pawns for a vision of America that was never going to become true. He’s a deeply flawed man and it’s why he’s one of my favorite villains in fiction. His story is one that shows what happens when you continue to flirt with the darkness inside of you and what happens when that darkness you tried to hid finally manifest into a living being like Micah.

The epilogue is the best part of the game, and critical to John as the central protagonist of the Redemption duology. Arthur and Jack are more than meaningful aspects to his life - along with developments of their own - but the John we knew from RDR1 was always there. Less refined and more hotheaded in his younger years, letting his doubts and Dutch's gaslighting cause him to be flagrant and irresponsible, but everything good that we love about him was there and it's good to see those qualities come into fruition. I respect the story's willingness to knock characters down a peg and make things more complicated.

He knew there was something special about Arthur that Abigail loved knowing he never had that side. To be a real man on his own along with his family , he truly added so much to John’s character that makes me appreciate rdr1 way more and makes me feel so much more sorrow for his desire to return to this way of life after Ross makes him wipe the gang. He no longer wanted that life and wanted to keep being that man for Abigail. Man that breaks my heart

I don't normally comment on RUclips. However, I just want to say that for 6k subscribers, this video was really well strung and I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing it with us.

10:55 She is unreasonable. Is he not supposed to fight back when attacked? He's not allowed to defend himself anymore. Was he out robbing people when they got attacked while he was with his son or did he go to pick up a package she sent him to go get that. She couldn't remember the name it was under no, but anything that happens to John is automatically John's fault. Even if he had no idea it was going to happen. We'll just blame him for every bad thing in the universe

LITERALLY!!!!! Abigail p*sses me off for this! Is she STUPID?!?! Why the hell did she use his ACTUAL name for the package?!?! 🤦‍♀️ It is LITERALLY her fault and the game acts like it was John who f*cked up. I HATE this plot point. It just makes Abigail come off as a dumb b*tch. Changing your name to start a new life is Van Der Linde gang 101 sh*t. 🙄

This ending was one of my favourite parts, because I’d always heard a lot about the story of RDR2 before playing it, but I never even heard about the epilogue, so it was a whole new story I knew nothing about going into it (I still have not played RDR1, mostly because I don’t have the patience to emulate or consoles with it).

Same! I think going into rdr2 without knowledge of rdr is a special thing

Man your videos are by far the best I’ve seen regarding RDR2, it’s a crime that you have less then 10k subscribers. Keep up the great work.

This is truly a well crafted video of this part of the game. I just beat the game on my 3rd play through full high honor best ending, teared up again to say goodbye to Arthur. Masterpiece

Love what you've done. I really enjoyed the epilogue as a set up for the story in RDR and there was definitely unfinished business. For me, although you play as Arthur and John, RDR2 is as much a story about Sadie Adler. Those O'Driscoll's did more than just kill her husband.

Having Ross and Fordham find John because he couldn't just leave Micah and had to get revenge is such clever storytelling

Dutch killing Micah was one of the more jaw-dropping moments for me. I was so pissed on that mountain when things turned to Micahs favor and then Dutch takking down to us. But then Dutch aims at Micah and i just kept yelling Holy Shit Dutch shot Micah, omg omg omg Dutch killed Micah. It was very cathartic

That surprised me as well. I couldn’t believe it and I was left in awe. And the way he says nothing. Bro. Amazing.

Just found your channel through this video and you've definitely got a knack for script writing and editing my friend. This video is amazing. I never understood why people didn't appreciate the epilogue for this game. We all grew up loving John and to get revenge on Micah for Arthur AS JOHN was amazing. It really put the exclamation point on one of, if not the THE, greatest story ever told through video games.
You've gained a subscriber out of me and I wish you well towards garnering the audience your quality of work deserves.

The epilogue is my favorite part of Rdr2. I religiously played RDR and love John. I grew to love Arthur but playing as John again with the added backstory from his earlier years with the gang made it so much better. Not even mentioning how you turn into the one man army John Marston we know from the first game during American Venom *chefs kiss. Just a masterclass of storytelling.

Not a very good one man army in this game since Micah pins him down behind a crate until Sadie magically appears on the mountain with no explanation as to how she got there

American Venom just always felt like the last stand we wanted for John in RDR1, outnumbered, guns blazing. Instead we see our boy get gunned down.

There are multiple instances in the epilogue where John does the "right" thing, when given hard choices, but then faces harsh criticism by Abigail for those actions. Understandably, she would be against him falling back into is old ways, but it got to the point where it felt like she was just being willfully ignorant by unfairly laying all the blame at his feet. Her leaving him was about the final straw for me. It made it hard for me to like her and root for John to stay with her. As one who considers RD2 to be one of the best video games ever made, I found myself being disappointed by the writing. I felt she needed more justification for how critical she was of John, and a few narrative tweaks could have made that possible. For example, early on making John fly off the handle and turn to violence too eagerly, when there are obvious better choices of non-violence. That would have given Abigail believable justification for her concerns, instead of just making her an insufferable nag. I wholly confess that I could not have done the amazing job that the writers did on RD2. Not even close. My John/Abigail gripe is just something that I'll have to get over.

After the depressing and action packed Chapter 6
I really enjoy the Epilogue especially being in Pronghorn Ranch
The simple tasks of milking cows, picking up horse and cow crap, birthing foals, fencing is pretty comforting
I'm glad the Epilogue is long and doesn't end right away with John getting his ranch, married and end with a happily ever after 🤣
It took time for John to get his ranch mean time he worked hard for months until he felt like asking for help from Mr Gedes to put a good word to the bank for a loan
Bounty hunting with Sadie was fun too
During my first playthrough after Arthur's death I didn't really tear up like most fans did
Yes I felt saddened and grief
I just sat in silence in my dark bedroom staring at the screen as the sun rises and Arthur takes his last breath
Cut to 8 years later we're now with John and Abigail bickering about finding a place to lie low
having to drive the wagon to Strawberry then to Pronghorn to deliver it was simple and calming
I did miss Arthur and felt kinda off playing as John Marston after a long journey with the Van Der Linde gang
From Colter, Horseshoe Overlook, Clemens Point, Shady Belle, Guarma, Lakay Then Beaver Hollow
The absence of Javier, Bill and Dutch knowing they're still out there was kinda sad knowing what happens in the first game
I read the newspaper in game
reading the part where Dutch was seen in Tall Trees is haunting
Javier is in Mexico and Bill who knows where but he started his own gang now taking charge
When it came time to hunt down Micah I honestly didn't care
Sure it was satisfying to shoot Micah but the way he died didn't feel satisfying
I wanted him to scream in agony after how much pain he's caused to everyone
