Gelmerbahn

We take the Gelmerbahn, not for those of a timid disposition, up to Lake Gelmer.

Tips re the Gelmerbahn:
- always book online, at least several weeks in advance
- the earlier in the day, the less crowds
- plan the day as the location of the Gelmerbahn is pretty remote "for Switzerland" so use Google Maps to plan your arrival time
- do the Gelmersee circuit walk at the top of the ride - it is spectacular
- you can either catch the Gelmerbahn back down or you can walk to the bottom
- if you plan to do the circuit walk, book the return trip for two hours after arrival at the top, the trip time is about 15-20 mins (the office is very helpful with queries about this)
- parking is just off the main road, before or near the little bridge
- there are toilets up at Gelmersee, next to the dam monitoring station.
