If you want to visit the heart of the Swiss Alps, then don’t skip the Jungfraujoch Top of Europe!
First, what does Jungfrau mean? Jungfrau means young lady. And here’s the story about these 3 famous peaks: The Jungfrau mountain (young lady) is next to the Mönch (monk), who is protecting her from the Eiger (ogre).
📋In today’s video we’re explaining exactly how to get to Jungfraujoch from Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen Valley, or Grindelwald.
🚂Then we show you the Jungfraubahn (train) and the Jungfrau railway station, which happens to be the highest in Europe!
🤑 BONUS: We even share how you can get discount tickets to Jungfraujoch! 🆓
🗺️ Once up at the Top of Europe, we’re going to follow the Jungfraujoch tour, a complete guide to the 10 activities such as the Jungfraujoch Sphinx Observatory and the Jungfraujoch Ice Palace.
🥾And, one of our favorite activities of the day includes walking (hiking) on the Aletsch Glacier to the Mönchsjochhütte (mountain hut)...at nearly 12,000 feet in elevation!
This jam-packed guide tells you everything you need to know before you visit Jungfraujoch, including:
❄️Weather (hint: check out the Jungfraujoch webcam)
    🏔️Elevation
    🎟️Tickets
    ⛄Activities
    ⏰Time to spend

Hi Brett and Jana! I’ll be going at the end of March, so excited! I was looking at the website to book tickets in advance. I’m planning to get the Half Fare Card too. Would I still be able to book a Jungfraujoch ticket even before I get to Switzerland and “start” my Half Fare Card, or would they ask me to put something down to verify the Half Fare Card before I check out with the ticket? Would the ticket be like an email or separate mobile ticket, and then I’d also have to show my Half Fare Card in the SBB app when I get there?
Also I was debating on how early I should book the ticket in advance since we wouldn’t know what weather would be like.. does the price increase as the closer you get to the date you would want to visit? Thanks so much :)

    • @AplinsintheAlps
      @AplinsintheAlps  Год назад

Hi there! Prices won't increase as time gets closer, so there's really no need to book tickets far in advance. In fact, we never book in advance or reserve a seat-we just go early in the day before it gets too crowded (and avoid the weekend if possible).
You can book tickets through the SBB mobile app, and can do so even if you haven't "started" your half fare card yet. Just make sure it's valid when you travel, because you'll likely be asked to prove you have one!

We went here in 2021 and got screwed because we pre-bought tickets for top of Europe and the day we could go it was horrible weather and we could see absolutely nothing when we got up there. We did all the activities like the glacier and stuff but did not get the view at all. We are going back this September and we are wondering if it's worth the $130 extra we would have to pay for the two of us to go back up there just for the view, what do you think? Is it worth it to still see the view since we've already done all the activities up there? We are planning to go up First this year and we already did schilthorn last year.

With the Berner Oberland Pass, you'll receive a discount on the trip to Jungfraujoch, and you'll only need a roundtrip ticket between Eigergletscher and Jungfraujoch. Probably easiest to just buy that ticket at a rail station once you're here in the region. Enjoy!

Hi there! You'll need to buy a ticket from Grindelwald Terminal (or Wengen, depending on which direction you're coming from) to Jungfraujoch. With the STP, you'll get a 25% discount, and you can buy those online or at one of the stations. We never buy a seat reservation for this route, preferring to go early in the day and on a weekday.
Most people can do everything in 2 1/2 or 3 hours. But if you also want to visit the Monchsjochhütte, allow for about another 3 hours (1.5 hrs to get there and back, plus about an hour and a half for lunch). Hope this helps!

It’s very unlikely that you can do all of that in one day! You could do 2 of those things but not all 3 because of the time it takes to travel between each place (more than 1 hour for all of those routes). So pick your top 2 😊
