Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well.

I am absolutely in love with Rachel Weisz! She did a brilliant job as Evanora! And Evanora ended up being my favorite character from the movie! A sense of elegance with a sinister attitude! I loved it!

Clearly Evanora knew of Theodora's natural wickedness, which she says is deep down inside her, and Theodora is trying to repress it. So Evanora's apple didn't "change" Theodora into something she wasn't, it brought her true self - which she had been battling to control - to the surface!
+WolfieMcMuffin I think it's the other way around. Evanora knew Theodora was just as good as Glinda. So, she did everything in her power to convince Theodora that she wasn't inherently good. Remember, Theodora is very naive. Like a child. So, constantly telling her little sister that she was a bad person slowly took its toll.
The apple just locked Theodora in a state of pain and sorrow and rage. Theodora's not wicked. She's hurt.

I agree and disagree with that theory. As quoted by Sirius Black 'the world isn't made up of good people and Death Eaters, we all have light and dark inside of us'. The apple simply shone upon and magnified the darker side of Theodora. Theodora chose to honour the lighter side of her of goodness and innocence despite her temper,but the apple changed that

It is a prequel, it had to stick to continuity with the original. Sadly, she dies without returning to her original self.
As someone who grew up loving the film versions of Mombi and the Wicked Witch of the West, Rachel Weisz's Evanora was so satisfying! Her performance and character stands right up there will those other iconic Oz witches.

This scene made me hate Evanora a lot when I first watched the movie. Yes, it was a display of Theodora's temper and power, but those two don't make her wicked, not by a long shot. In my eyes, it was clear that Evanora was manipulating and conditioning Theodora to question and devalue herself because Theodora was a potential threat. Theodora was clearly had a good and righteous heart, and on top of that, she has immense destructive powers so imagine if Theodora was to find out the truth and decided to side with Glind. I hate Evanora so much but that just means they wrote her really well. I personally think Evanora and Gothel's type of evil is the most dangerous and damaging.
This scene is amazingly acted!! Ever since I first watched this movie, I always questioned about who was really wicked out of Evanora and Theodora!! Then I get curious about Theodora, how much anger and pain she's been holding inside and how it goes with her powers!!

Evanora was the true villain of the movie, she was wicked all along she just appears beautiful - and thus good as witches who are wicked are ugly reflecting there evil power - because of the charmed emerald she wears around her neck. Her true twisted and evil form is revealed later when Glinda destroys the emerald.

Loved this movie. I heard they are planning a sequel. If I was a director ; I would make a trilogy from this. The 2nd film would be Evanora finding a way to regain her powers and youth. How does she go about it? This is where the Ruby slippers come into play. Deep within the castle of the Emerald Castle, the late king locked the slippers away in a room or safe of some kind. So the plot of the 2nd film would be Evanora finding a way to get her hands on the slippers. Being stripped of most of powers though she would once again try to enlist the help of Theodora. Given they didn't leave on good terms since Evanora did hide in her castle at the end of the first, leaving Theodora to fight Oz for herself and being banished. Evanora would have to be very cautious of how she approached the situation. But by some for of manipulation/coercing Evanora would get Theodora's help by striking a deal of some kind. Theodora would start to wreck havoc upon the Land of Oz, distracting Glenda and Oz from the fact that Evanora has snuck into the Emerald City. Since she really is no threat at the moment. She manages to get her hands on the slippers, regains all her power and youth. By the end of it she and Glenda are battling in the Munchkin village as she is destroying it. While Oz is busy keeping Theodora at bay elsewhere. Being overpowered by Evanora's new power, all seems lost for Glenda. That is until they hear something falling from the sky. Before there is time to react, a house crashes down on Evanora. Then the credits roll. As for the third film I would do, it would be a re-imaging of the original Wizard of Oz. A mix of both novel and film as the final chapter of the trilogy. Showing Dorothy getting to Oz and then picking up where the previous film left off.

I do not see how wicked Evanora is, she is just good at politics and maybe a little manipulative, but hardly evil and wicked, oh, I forget, this is a children story, anyone who kills before is damn to be the villain.
+bailey guan Well, Oz is an exaggeration of morals. It's not that Evanora is politically intelligent but that she did very wicked things to gain power. She kills a man who did only good for the land. She banishes a woman who could have brought peace to her father's land. She manipulates the only family she has. And, we see later that she kills anyone who stands oppose to the rule she wishes to have.
Evanora lost redemption when she enacted a full on genocide of the pottery people. She further damns herself by harming her sister.
You left out the part where she corrupted her sister, had the previous king killed, committed genocide against China Town, and terrorized the citizens of Oz.

In Baum's original Glinda (as we know her in the movie) was actually two witches. The Good Witch of the North, and Glinda the Good Witch of the South. Originally it was implied there were Good Witches and Wicked Witches for all four directions. The Good Witch of the North we meet in Chapter 2, and Glinda comes in a chapter 18.
This is more faithful to the 1939 MGM movie as opposed to the books.

I would love if there was another movie made... With Theodora and Evanora teaming up and attacking OZ together.. in a battle that would lead up to Theodora being killed by dorothy landing on her with the house. Great actresses and it would be a shame to see both of disappear after this movie.. (they have given these characters a new life just like Heath ledger has to the Joker in Batman.)
Theodora is the Wicked Witch of The West. Evanora would be the one that Dorothy drops the house on as she is the Wicked Witch of The East.

Honestly as I grow older I sympathize with the “evil” characters anymore I mean she was pushed into being told you are wicked till she can’t help but defend that she isn’t then loses her temper I mean the truth is villains only turn into villains when pushed into a corner can’t blame them.
