Why I Didn't Buy Another Omega Speedmaster Or Seamaster - Unboxing A WW2 Era CK2292 Pilot Watch

- In today's video I share an unboxing and initial impressions of my latest acquisition. After being heavily inspired by the Omega CK2129 featured in the movie Dunkirk by Christopher Nolan, I decided that my next watch would not be another Seamaster or Speedmaster, but something from the World War II era.
As a massive fan of aviation, especially from the pre-jet age, the watches of that period are also equally fascinating and horoligically important, so it was only right that I added one to my collection.

Love how animated you become about watches, your enthusiasm is contagious.
In a time when history is under seige and people have long forgotten the accomplishments of the greatest generation I find it refreshing that a young man like your self, TGV, has so much respect for incalculable sacrifices made by young men and women during WWII. To own a part of that history is compelling and will get me to grab a piece myself. Thanks for posting this...Your appreciation for the value of history is lost among this generation. Bravo...
Thank you so much for the thoughtful and poignant comment.
Best regards,
TGV
You are most welcome, I am enjoying my Brietling 41 auto now because of a certain New Yorker... :)
Your excitement over the Omega is infectious. Congratulations on your new vintage watch!
This must be the most epic of all your reviews, by far. I cannot imagine the profound honor and reverence to have such a piece of true history in your hands, but i really like to see how you really understand that feeling and shared it with us... Congratulations Tristano!
Thank you Alvaro :D
Best regards,
TGV
Yes I’d say out of all the watches you own or buy this one is the most valuable or should be . As you quite rightly said “what stories could this watch tell” and that’s the most valuable thing in the world . It is the pioneer of wartime watch heritageness , Britishness , military significance and a whole host of amazing reasons . I’d rather have this watch than any sub, skx, sarb or microbrand homage just for the sheer history of it - it’s unequivocally a legendary rich piece of history . It deserves respect leagues above the mass produced playboy wrist jewellery watches of today .
These reviews are very clear and very concise. They are also quite informative and allow the subscriber to make an informed decision prior to purchase. Awesome Reviews & a amazingly gifted correspondent.
Thank you so much Howard, very kind of you to say.
Best regards,
TGV
Incredible! This brings together a number of my passions; history, military, and horological watches. Congratulations!!!
Your excitement level nearly broke my iPad screen TGV! It'll probably take about a month to power down your grin, but I recon it's cool to see your genuine buzz from taking delivery of your excellent and very historic piece. That sort of enthusiasm's what it's all about now isn't it 👍🏻⌚️😎
TGV , congrats on the latest find. what a history!!! the simplicity of these military style watches makes them very versatile.
Thank you sir :D
Best regards,
TGV
So today i discovered that my english professor is one of those people who wear their watch on the inside of their wrist. My only thought? "How ghastly"
LOL
Thank you Jordan :D
Best regards,
TGV
Jordan Ownbey perhaps he or she was previously in the military.
It's a military thing. Officers wore it this way to avoid bumping into things and breaking the crystals. Not that ghastly, very traditional.
Also to avoid reflections giving away their position
I'm in the army and I got smoked day 1 of basic for wearing my watch the regular way. I don't know why but my DS made us wear it that way.
For some reason this reminds me of a teenager on prom night. Including the unwrapping and the grinning ear to ear after it's opened and fondled. :-D
I am going to see Dunkirk later in the week at the Alamo theater in Bucksport Maine. I can thank you for getting me in depth to watches, and to go to a movie theater for the first time since 2011. Sherlock Holmes a game of Shadows was the film I saw. Thanks again.
Deffo catch it in the cinema if you can, the sound design is worth it alone, aside from the stunning visuals.
Thank you Alex, enjoy!
Best regards,
TGV
The bluing on the hands with that patina is so beautiful! Congrats and enjoy that amazing piece of history! :)
Thank you so much Zachary :D

Fantastic choice, TGV! And love the straps you got. Have the red-white-blue one myself and it's definitely one of my favorites. Enjoy the new watch! ;D
Love the videos TGV, keep them coming! Great point regarding lusting after something to tick a box and buying something to actually wear & enjoy!
Thank you sir!

Congratulations!! I think I was almost as excited as you were lol! That watch is gorgeous. I love it I love it I love it! I think it's so great to save and cherish these vintage pieces especially since most our beloved and brave men and women who served and fought during that time period are no longer with us. Cheers my friend.
Thank you JC :D

Amazing find, TGV! Wearing a piece of history must be elating to say the least!
I've been looking for a ck2292 like this for ages and finally found one at a good price. It's on it's way to me right now!
And here I am still looking for the right flight watch and you already found an amazing one!
Congratulations Tristano! A classic Omega for a classic owner 👍
TGV I don't know if this is the best place to ask questions, anyway, if I purchased a watch from say the 40s, is there a way to learn it's exact date and place of manufacture?
Beautiful piece TGV, it looks great. Enjoy wearing it. 🍾🍸⌚️
Thank you Bob,
Best regards,
TGV
That is a beautiful watch!!! I think I'm going to start hunting one down. My grandfather vintage Hamilton from the mid 40's needs a vintage friend.
I like how you put that, "it needs a friend", a vintage Omega will suit a vintage Hammy perfectly!
Thank you and happy hunting.
Best regards,
TGV
Amazing intro, good work mate
Whoa, total stunner! Absolutely perfect for you. I hope it's a instant keeper.
Bloody good show ! I have an ultra affordable facsmilie of this,a Zim with blued hands with a dome acrylic crystal...a hand cranker to boot.
Well done once again TGV
great video, managed to pick one up today with a new leather strap but I will get a nato, what size strap did you get ?
What you say at 10:10 is golden and if we all think that way we will save ourselves buyer's remorse and inconvenience. Great video TGC!
Awesome video as always. I had a question to ask, I recently saved up to buy my dream watch the cartier tank but now I saw the ballon de bleu. Can you tell me which is a better deal ?
I don't collect watch anymore but i watch your videos. Now finally you found real appreciation of time and space...
it looks like new MOD issue strap(admiralty grey: color) but you didn't talk anything about that specific strap.
I hope you will feature more military issued watches used in the battle field. Anyway thank you for showing the watch
man, something weird happened,i got a really good offer at a vintage omega seamaster(60s), on the surface says its a "automatic" ,but inside lies a Cal.1030 which is a manual winding movement, what do u think it could be?
My Skx013 arrived the mail today.
Thank you for the recommendation on my first automatic.
Fantastic watch! Nothing can beat a piece with such a rich history.
lovely watch. TGV what is your opninion on the updated oris artelier complication (moonphase) watch?
Thank you, I have to have a closer look, but considering it is Oris, I expect nothing be excellence.
I will certainly keep an eye out for one.
Best regards,
TGV
TGV I am very envious of you. In a good way.
Oh good gosh, what a beautiful watch. Well done!
Having new watch is like gents having their Xmas gift all over again.. great watch!!!
Found your channel by accident and I cant stop "watch..ing" lmao awesome channel man
Thank you :D Welcome aboard!
Best regards,
TGV
You really got a knack for unearthing these treasures!
1943, talk about poetic timing, an almost out of body experience. What a feeling it must be just to strap that beautiful iconic Omega on and feel the humanity behind it. I'm rather speechless as I type. Some of the Dunkirk beach scenes were filmed almost in my backyard on the Palos Verdes Peninsula (So-Cal). Thank You, TGV.
gorgeous piece
Hi TGV what is your opinion of the Heuer Monaco reference CAW211P.FC6356?
Congratulation, just imagine the history and the stories that beautiful timepiece hold. Your holding 70yr. of history.
Amazing.
Thank you Brian, I like how you look at it, very true indeed.
Best regards,
TGV

woah! To say that I'm jealous is an understatement! absolutely beautiful piece!
Beautiful watch, it has an element of wabi sabi to it. Simply understated beauty, my kind of watch. Thanks TGV.👍🏻
Very nice, I have a similar one my grandfather bought shortly after the war. Also have a quick question for you, I've been thinking of getting a vintage omega constellation with the "C" style case, however, I noticed that you have never reviewed a constellation. Why is that?
Thank you Ethan, truth is, I simply can't review them all! I will am I sure eventually, all a matter of time ;-)
Best regards,
TGV
Bravo TGV!
What a stunning timepiece... Wow, really impressive!
Wear it in good health! 👌🏻👏🏻
Kind Regards,
Phelipe
Thank you Phelipe :D

Hello TGV, I enjoy watching your videos and find them very informative. I am looking to purchase a used Omega Speedmaster Professional. I'm wondering where to to look for reputable dealers as there aren't really any where I live, (way upstate, NY). This would be my first luxury watch purchase and could use all the help I can get. Any guidance you could offer would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Love the video!
Congrats on the new historical Omega pilot watch!
i am GLAD to see you are also into vintage watches. most of mine are. 40s 50s and 60s. but, i give you this, i am also into the newer stuff some, bec of your channel. i have a seiko SKX and orient. great channel. stress some vintage stuff like this once in awhile.

Very nice new/old purchase! :-)
If I were to own it, it would stay on THAT exact strap. I love how it simply compliments the blued hands!
You know what, you are absolutely right Shannon, also I as I just found out it is a true MOD mil spec nato ;-)
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Cool find.
That 33mm case on your wrist looks like my 40.5mm case on my wrist. Madness!
Absolutely beautiful watch. I love the simplicity! Are there any budget watches that share a similar simple design inspirired by this watch and are in the same small size? This would be literally my perfect watch but is completely out of my budget.
Fabulous! Love it 👍
I saw this model on Ebay a while ago, it's quite pricey. indeed a beautiful piece!
As the old MTV motto said, "Too much is never enough". Get another Seamaster ;)
Terrific video. Love seeing actual history being kept alive. Bravo!
Where did you get that miniature samurai armor?
excellent piece
Great video. I love blued hands on watches.:)

Can someone please suggest where to buy good omega vintages please.Really thankful
can you recommend some sites? i'm looking for a vintage omega
Your excitement is infectious! Beautiful watch. So glad to see it unboxed in The War Room too!! atb.snack.
Can someone tell me which watch is Sean Connery wearing in Finding Forrester?
TGV as an almost daily reader of your channel may l, as an Ex-Squadron Leader who flew Spitfires, thank you so much for your enthusiasm for most things British. Like yourself l also dress smartly (though not necessarily from Saville Row) and admire your taste in clothing and accessories .
Best Wishes for a healthy future
Watching your content is a treat. I am waiting for a new video from The Urban Gentry with way more anticipation than new episode of Game of Thrones!
It's a beautiful watch! It looks in brilliant condition too!
Brilliant! Pure class.
Hi TGV:
You stated that the watch and magazine are from '43. I am curious about a D-Day article appearing in the magazine before the actual event commenced on June 6, 1944.
Thanks,
Michael
Indeed, I think the article was more about the "possibility" of attacking.
Well spotted.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
The invasion of Italy in '43 was also referred to as D-Day by the Allies. Maybe it was that.
Chris Grabowski
My grandfather was actually in the Italian Beach Landings!
The term "D-Day" is a military term which refers to the day an operation is to take place. I might also point out that
"H-Hour" refers to the hour that said operation is to begin and or time on target.
Most folks know it as the invasion of Normandy but can be any mission.
Hope that helps.
Beautiful watch with so much character and history. Seeing you so excited was a pleasure lol.
Out of curiosity, when you bought this really old piece what did you do in terms of servicing? Did you send it to your watchmaker straight away to service or did this come with service history from recent years?
Please keep up the good work my friend
I love how tiny this watch is, I find the small ones so neat.
Totally agree,
Thank you my friend,
Best regards,
TGV
An important question: why will Omega not reproduce models similar to this?
ABSOLUTELY!
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
It's sad but at least they're doing retro stuff like the '57 trilogy.
Hi TGV.
The Watch is awsome!! Where did you get it?
Congratulations on the vintage Omega... Great film Dunkirk, just shows how well made Omega watches really are!! Enjoy my friend BMJ ENGLAND
Thank you my friend,
So glad you enjoyed it too, made me quite teary at the end! NEVER SURRENDER! ;-)
Best regards,
TGV
Wow! Congratulations! This watch is the Real McCoy for your collection!♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Many of these were taken back into stores, recased and redialed then reissued as 6B/159. I have one of those that belonged to my dad when he served in the RAF. They look practically the same. Omega still have parts for the 30mm. I had mine fixed recently and it is running +2 seconds. Its my most accurate watch.
actually in process of buying a very very nice piece too, will send u the photos..amazing.
Nice! Was thinking it was going to be the Weems like in the movie by the build-up, but great watch!
Haha, I wish! It would be easier finding a Paul Newman Daytona.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
TGV! Do you know the difference between the Seiko SRP779 and the SRP779K1??? I can't seem to find answers! I ordered the SRP779 I'm so excited for it to get here! So retro looking
Your other video with the vintage Omega from the 50s inspired me to find one just like it! And I got lucky with the price too! It's from 1951 and I won the auction at $200!
Another great video on a subject and watch which has a significant place in history. Love these kind of watches. They have a character and story to tell. Although I get your point on the Speedy I also love that it holds a special place in history. I myself have been inspired to hunt for a WW2 Omega after watching Dunkirk and your videos. My Great Uncle served with the RAAF (Royal Australian Airforce) during WW2 in the Pacific campaigns. He was flying PBY Catalina boat planes which were used as scout and anti submarine warfare. On one mission over the South China Sea he and his crew had to ditch due to engine failure. They spent days in the rough ocean awaiting to be rescued. 2 crew drowned. Eventually a British Destroyer (HMS Tenacity) picked them up. They were lucky not to fall into Japanese hands. A fate worse than death for downed airmen!
Where did you buy the watch and how much does it cost to you?
A breathtaking watch!!
Wow
Good chioce is happyness.
Thanks for that posting.
