- Forty years before his death, Bowie was involved in a forgettable incident in Rochester. While on tour in 1976, in support of his "Station to Station" album, Bowie made a stop in Rochester -- his first and only performance in the city. But, while in town Bowie was jailed following a marijuana bust by Rochester police.
That voice, that face, that outfit, David Bowie looked so freaking dapper even after being arrested! So handsome...

Bowie was drawing influences from 1920s German cabaret figures.
He is being intelligent in terms of getting out of there safely and not drawing further heat. The woman he was with has now disclosed that they unnecessarily bashed the door of his room open, with the door hitting Bowie in the face, and hurling him across the room to hit his head on the opposite wall. Sounds like a bunch of goons out to attack and bring down a fancy rock star.

There are goons like this everywhere. Its a sad world we live in. But hey look, I think this scene for anyone who knows it and lands in a similar circumstance can find great inspiration from. David wasnt hurting anyone and was actually assaulted illeagly by the police, yet that didnt deter him from continuing what he loved best. He's very wise to keep his cool and that takes great restraint.
All it teaches as well is that the establishment have crooks in as well who dont want to create an ideal peace filled world. But at least by their very own decisions they hurt themselves in the long run.

So now that he's not around any more, we're disputing his version of events and believing yet another vampire hovering over his corpse. He had 40 years after this to change his account, and never did. He was a gentleman and told the truth rather than playing the rock star victim.

It's mad because imagine the police being perfect gentlemen to someone in possession of weed and possibly coke in 1976.....that wasn't a mega rich superstar. Shows the unfairness in society, although I'm sure bowie was very charming and helpful to them, still just shows.
The police were not nice to him. They even managed to hit him in the head with the door when they burst into his apartment. He just lied to avoid another scandal because he was a gentleman.

I just learned about it too and have been a Bowie fan for ages. He was with a young Chinese girl when busted. She just recently is commenting on what happened that night. Interesting YT video. Her name is Chi Wah.

The Rochester woman was identified by police as Chiwah Soo, 20, of Owen Street.
