As if being spotted & singled out by David Bowie isn’t grand enough on its own, what’s equally amazing is; she wasn’t a minor, didn’t smoke, had an unblemished record and stayed silent out of, wait for it...RESPECT FOR HER PARENTS. Very impressive.

She also didn't talk about it to her kids out of respect for her husband. An undoubtedly virtuous individual; good for her.

We lived in the city, I asked my parents to take me to the show at MSG, they refused, and I didn’t actually get to see a concert until 1981 when I was 13. KISS and Elton faded for me, but I’m still a big fan of David Bowie, and Station to Station is my favorite album. What fun! My brother was friends with Carlos, Dennis and George. When they wheeled into Phoenix in 1978, I was at my job ( I was 19) and when I came home my mom said that a Mr. Alomar called and left tickets for me. I already had 4th row center, so I gave them away. We had instructions to meet up at the hotel and we had drinks together. Sat with us about 45 minutes. I never would have asked for an autograph (too needy) but two kids came up and asked, as they walked away David said, "can I sign one for you?" It is still a treasured possession!

I'm guessing the hotelier went through Bowie's room during the gig and that the cops were already waiting to arrest him, and once they sparked up it was probable cause enough to enter the room. People talk about police departments being corrupt now but in '76 it was a different era in american policing altogether. Bowie was a rock star, a foreigner, very flamboyant, and a drug-user, all of which would have painted a huge target on his back. It was basically just sending a clear message: "Stay out of Rochester."

Two who were clearly teenagers (and very possibly legally minors) in front of me were super thrilled to be given the passes, but after the initial thrill wore off, you could see they realized what it was about and their composure completely changed. They left before the end of the show. I was disgusted to see such despicable behavior from the band. The roadies share the blame too for facilitating it.

When Bowie hired him he was *the* premiere criminal defense attorney in the Rochester area, with five consecutive murder acquittals recently under his belt. When he went to prison recently it was for his role in the murder of a business partner, whose car was riddled with bullets Sonny Corleone-style in the middle of an intersection in Greece, which is about ten minutes away from Rochester proper. @@joelglanton6531 wow. That's pretty nutty lol thanks a heap for the detailed reply, appreciate it a lot 👍 and I totally agree, it seems like a movie of his life would be pretty damn colourful haha even if it was just netflix like "The Irishman"-in fact Scorcese would be a perfect fit to make it by the sounds of the guys life lol thanks again!

@@teethgrinder83 You're welcome! The funny thing is that when I was writing that it did make me think of The Irishman hahaha. A rather long history of crime, with the guy going to prison in his old age.

I closed my eyes while listening to her story and imagined I was her. Although she had a traumatic experience with the cops, this is amazing!! I would love to to time travel back to that moment with her😭
