What Kind Of LAST MINUTE Military Discounts Can We Get at a Disney Resort Right NOW? Deluxe Prices!

- If you have ever tried to look up military discounts on Disney resorts on the Walt Disney World website you'll be directed to a special phone number that will connect you with a Disney agent for assistance. We took the liberty of calling Disney today to see what kind of discounted rooms were available for the next few months. We started by limiting our criteria to comparable priced value resorts but realized those were nearly gone for the dates we were requesting. It wasn't until we inquired about dates over 3 months from now that we had ANY luck with discounted rooms. This 38 minute phone call was informative but I can definitely see why people just use Disney travel agents to handle this part of planning. Hopefully this information helps someone out there grab a great deal on a deluxe resort room! Stay tuned for more discounted military rates for next year!

We *always* did military discount at deluxe resorts previously. The dining plan was always included in our price and it would work out to be a great deal for us. However, after not going for several years during the pandemic, I was finally planning our next trip we just took in January and your videos helped me decide to try Shades out because we could then afford more trips this year. We really liked it and everything I feared I would dislike (the "older" rooms - our room wasn't bad at all!, the having to show the ID every time we got on the bus, the different bus location situation at the parks)... none of it mattered and my husband said "this is nice and now we can afford to go more often too!" I am planning our next trip for later this year, and even though I loved Shades, I had to check my beloved Disney resorts *just to see*, and now I just can't justify the several thousands anymore for a 5 night trip when it will come out to under 1,000 for 5 nights at Shades with a massive room that worked so well for our family of 5! We are officially converts, lol!!

Yes, look into it and see what deals you can get! If you want to plan something for 2025 then call this week because you can start booking and ask for the military discount later too
I know that towards the end of March- Occupational Therapy Association) has their annual conference in Orlando this year. Tried to our trip around that time but didn’t so I could go to the conference and my family could enjoy the park around the same dates… luckily I kept checking SOG and was able to reserve a poolside room for the same time frame.

We usually go Pop Century, even though we can't use my military discount, and it's usually a comparable price with SoG, but has the added convenience of the Skyliner. Thanks again for another informative video!

Glad you guys did this. We just went 02/11-02/17 weeks ago and did Art of Animation. Ended up being $1880 for 2 adults 1 child and $1980 for 3 adults 1 child. We called and booked 6 mo in advance because shades was booked over Valentine’s Day. We did 6 nights. Art of animation was TINY!!!! Also, they told us they do NOT do military discounts for little mermaid rooms like we had so I’m curious if the quote they told you was actually with a discount. That’s about the same they told us for a suite. 😊
We have stayed in Art of Animation but typically have stayed in cars family suite… with the military discount and I was quoted 3217.15 for that room for the last week of March
Oh wow! Yes I actually thought about the mermaid rooms after the phone call (of course) bc I knew those were excluded from the military discounts. Honestly, I think next time we call back I’ll have more questions bc I didn’t feel confident in the answers I was getting this time lol Other than the room sizes and price what did you think of AoA?
We enjoyed it otherwise! We weren’t in the room much but the skyliner transportation was awesome and a great way to move the kids around and get some rest in. But the night it rained it was an INSANE LINE to get back after the night show.

Our first trip we called right after the salute tickets were released for a March trip . Got around $800 off at POFQ ( we love this resort )
Called the same time 2 years later and couldn’t get anything !
I was told they only set aside a certain amount of rooms for the military rates .
Paid Disney price but it’s just a luck of the draw if you can get their military rate .
You are 100% correct! You’d almost have to call everyday to see what’s available. We got really lucky at the Polynesian back in 2018 on my baby moon and have been dreaming of staying there again ever since. I think those prices are long gone 😂 But we would love to try POFQ….thanks for sharing that you love it! It’s on our list 😊

I believe she mentioned that the new rates, coming out next week, is for 2025, not 2024.
Also, I went to there to their web site, June 3-7 All Star, it comes to 618.00 + 84.00 tax = 702.00 , but the rate she gave you was 702.00, so it was not a good discount rate.
Yes you’re correct…she mentioned it would be for 2025. And the value resort deals don’t sound very different than normal prices to me so I agree with you. The deluxe deals she mentioned at the end sounded better

I always give Tim crap about it though bc it never fails….as SOON as he goes out of town or leaves for deployment they all start beeping. And it’s never during the day…almost always at 2 or 3 am. I’ve had my fair share of changing batteries and even replacing units on the ceiling with a 10ft ladder 🫣

I had a MUCH better experience getting Coronado Springs for the last weekend in March. I guess it's random. I've also had great luck for close to Halloween and early December
It’s definitely random as people cancel all the time. What time of year matters too so we are going to do this again and see what different results we get. Lucky you to get a good time around Halloween!! 👏🏼
Whew, that was a long call. Thank you for doing that for us😂. For some reason, I always feel like I have to call back a second time to get the exact info I need. Part of it is that I don’t feel like I know all the right questions to ask the first time around and, as you said, some CMs aren’t very familiar with the military promotions. 🤷🏻♀️ Either way, the cast members are always very kind so that is a plus.
And I cut out all of the unnecessary parts 😂 I was trying so hard to be patient but we also had a certain amount of time before we had to leave to get Story lol But you’re right, very kind and wanted to help! It’s so tedious because if you don’t ask something clearly or with the right wording you get different answers so I know what you mean by wanting to call back to make sure. It’s a process for sure!
I have a couple questions about shades of green, if we decide that's where we are going to stay we would have to sponsor our grown kids and grandkids, so what would ID would they show to take the park bus? Another question is, we would be flying in and aren't interested in getting a rental car, is there an airport shuttle?
Your kids/grandkids would be sponsored guests so they would need their state issued Ids(drivers license is fine). When you’re all checked in each of the adults on the reservation will receive a paper resort ID. You’ll need to show your paper resort Id and government ID to ride the bus to the parks and back 😁
As for airport shuttles, there aren’t any that go from the airport to the resort. But many people use 3rd party services like UBER or LYFT. There are also transportation companies like MEARS that you can look into. Just google airport transportation to Shades of Green and you’ll find several options to research what’s best for you. I hope that helps!
We’ve used military discounts very often, staying at Pop, French Quarter, Riverside (princess rooms), and Destiny Tower at Coronado Springs. You can book Disney rooms a year out using the discount (unless something changed). We’ve always booked early after the prices are released - usually in the fall or early winter. We’ve also stayed at SoG on our first trip many years ago, and again last year. Prices at Disney are getting so high it’s a reach for many. We are planning a trip in May and decided to stay at the Dolphin - they have value days and have special offers…worth checking out. With the location it will allow us to maximize our time park hopping (Epcot and HS)and still take advantage of extended hours. SoG always offer a great value, it can be hard to beat, but in our higher category, we’ve stayed at Disney for cheaper years past, but I don’t think that’s the norm any longer. We’re very fortunate to have SoG as an option and anyone able to book there should not have any reservations. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms spacious!

Question when asking for military rates......we were told u had to be active or retired military....my husband is a disabled vietnam veteran do u know if that applies for military rates?? as u said we would rather spend money at SHades but also would be nice to do a skyline or monorail for a change....thanks for info above an thanks for any info u can give....jj
Correct, you would need to be active or retired to receive these rates. BUT sometimes you can get comparable deals with their packages at Pop century though which is one of the resorts that doesn’t offer military rates. If you want to spend about the same as you do at SOG that’s where I’d look first. Here’s a link to eligibility for Disneys military resort deals:

Can I ask star card question? If I apply for one today do they give a temporary card number to use until the actual card comes in?
That’s what they did for us. We wrote it down and used it to pay and it worked just fine. On the other hand I’ve heard people say that the agent wouldn’t give them the information. So it might just depend on who you get helping you 😬 Definitely ask before you apply just to make sure.
