We often use our DVC without going into the parks. I like to go to Disney and relax, swim and see the surround area. In a ten day trip, there might be one day at Epcot. Especially if there’s Food and Wine!

Member since 2011 and I thought I was reasonably savvy on ins and outs of using points, but I did NOT know about “points transfers” so I just learned valuable info in your first Q! We have two memberships at two resorts (BCV & SSR) with same Use Year so it’s great info to have. Something else I learned just this year, since rooms have become harder to book, is you can hold 2 waitlist requests PER MEMBERSHIP at any given time. That’s how we got our room in May for a Sept 12 trip - I put in 4 different waitlist requests for our desired dates, and one came through! Also Paul I just started renting out excess points this year through your company. It’s been a great experience. So far I haven’t gotten you on the phone but everyone else has been just as pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful as you are!

To answer Felecia's question....yes, I, personally use my DVC to go to Disney resorts only and enjoy the pools and visit family that moved to Orlando area in the last 2 years...very relaxing! No waking up early to get to the parks and wait on super long lines....etc

Every time I hear "call Member Services" two thoughts go through my mind: (1) 3-hour phone call with the first 2 hours on hold; and (2) once you get through, Member Services will accomplish your goal with a smile. So I have to weigh the benefits versus annoyance factor... 🙂

Dizzy Dolphin for grocery delivery! They will go anywhere you want them too... including multiple stores or restaurants (like Panera or local donut shops!)
I have had Instacart delivered right to my room door at both Saratoga and Old Key West.
Likewise, I ordered from Instacart while at Saratoge and met them at the lobby. All went smoothly!
The DVC Rental Store request form was so easy to use planning for a stay over a year out! Kept our fingers crossed for a few months and finally landed a stay at the Grand Californian. A terrific service!
So happy you were able to get a VGC at 7 months. I was not able to get one for my February 8th birthday
Purchased my 1st 25pt contract back in May 2021 for $86/pt. Purchased a 2nd VBR contract in February for $75/pt. Buying VBR isn't for everyone, but it worked for me and I have zero regrets.

@@paulkrieger when we get our groceries it’s usually early on check in day. We’re not at the resort when the groceries get delivered, and they are left bell services. We even just used them last week when we rented a beach house at Jacksonville Beach. Kroger is our preferred grocery now when in Disney. We have used Amazon and Shipt before. IMO Kroger is better.

For the first time since buying DVC resale back in 2004, we did a resort only stay last month. We couldn't stomach all of the recent BS with Genie+, crowds and an underwhelming 50th celebration. Instead we did Sea World, Discovery Cove and Aquatica. Then we went over and did 5 night stay at Portofino Universal. Again first time for the kiddos. They really enjoyed the break from Disney park madness. Our last disneyworld park vacation was xmas 2018. We're from Canada and couldn't get down during the pandemic. Thank goodness for renting points!

My Parents own at Hilton Head and Rivera; I would say only average going to the Park every 5-7 years however they vacation 1-2 times a year at Disney resorts.
I would love at coronado, but they need to make a skyliner or monorail hha

Aulani is only 68 percent sold? I believe Aulani is the best DVC resort. With the ocean view and weather. It is only 68 percent sold after all these years. I believe the best new DVC resort outside of Disneyland and Disneyworld would be the eastern side of Lake Tahoe. I know the big money would be coming from the Silicon Valley area of California and Southern California. Like the ol’e real estate saying goes. Location, Location, Location.
How or where can you find out what % is sold for Aulani?
Thanks for answering my question about different use years. I am in the process of getting another contract and it’s harder to find smaller contracts with my use year.
I would love to see a stand-alone DVC resort to be in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area they need to catch up with Margaritaville locations there. They could just copy and paste Wilderness Lodge up in the smokies and I think it would be a success. I understand silver dollar city owns Dollywood but there is a lot of travelers that go there makes a lot of sense to grab some of the share of travelers.
I think unlike Vero beach (one million visitors per year) and and Hilton Head (2.5 million visitors per year) and even Hawaii (10 million visitors per year) Gatlinburg and surrounding areas see around 12 million visitors a year. Disney Word sees 58 million visitors a year. So for a place that is about 20% of the visitors Disney Word already has it makes no sense that they aren’t trying to get a piece of that money.
I would love to see that happen!

We are on the West Coast and use DVC for our WDW vacations but just do day visits to DL. We are really hoping they bring back Moonlight Magic to DL as it was a nice perk we were hoping for when we purchased in 2/2020
Great show. I find your content very helpful. Here is my question Paul. Back in 2020 I was supposed to take my nephew to Aulani for his graduation. Because of covid, everything was canceled. Now I was told by member services that if I wanted to save my banked and current use year they expire 12/2022(over 300 points) I had to transfer them to RCI. I was also told that I could not use them for any DVC properties and I needed to be at least 30 miles away from any disney properties. So does the Rental store buy points from RCI? Thank you for your help.
Hi Rosemarie! - Unfortunately, for the same reasons you mentioned in terms of RCI limitations on use, we are unable to rent any points that are part of the RCI or II exchange system. Sorry ☹️

In 2019, the hubby and I stayed at the Treehouses. We ordered from Walmart, they delivered directly to our treehouse. Not sure exactly how it works for regular resorts.

Where in the northeast is Kroger’s? I live up here and have never seen or heard of one
I think it’s based out of Columbus. But we are from the Northern panhandle of WV- very close between OH and PA and we had lots of Kroger stores.
Have the videos stopped? Normally we would get one or two a week.
Like to know if and when Disneyland will start using Magic Bands?

@@YamKriegs Thnx. Found them. We bought BW in 1998 and an OKW resale a few years ago. I built a model that looked for value in the resale contracts. I was interested in the viewpoints of some of these to see what I might have left out.
Paul and Amy, thanks for the info. I would love to learn even more about the ins and outs of transfers. I have an original SSR purchased via Disney (250) and a resale of SSR (150) with the same use year. (Oct) Recently purchased a resale of 120 at poly with a different use year (Feb) .
Can I transfer extra points (banked) from SSR to my poly account for future bookings? Can I still book poly at 11 months if using SSR points (banked or current year)?
Hi Scott, transfers maintain their home resort so unfortunately couldn’t be used to book Poly at 11 months with SSR points. Transfers are more for when you need to pull points together from different memberships (with different use years). Friends or families may also use a transfer to pull points together from two memberships owned by different people to book a larger accommodation.
@@YamKriegs thanks for the info. I have been looking around online and see that I cannot transfer banked or borrowed points. I also see in your response that I would only be able to book transferred points at the 7 month window.
Your thoughts on this working for getting a larger room and being able to book at 11 months
I transfer current use year ssr points to my poly contract.
I should be able to bank them in my poly contract.
Do these banked points expire based on the SSR use year or the poly contract where the points where banked.
I am guessing that even though they were banked under the poly use year, they expire under the SSR use year.
@@Scottb329 Hi Scott, thanks for the question. All transferred points maintain their use year and home resort booking rights. And my apologies that I mispoke some on the show. When you transfer, you are transferring from one membership to another, not transferring into another contract. You can transfer your SSR points into the same membership your Poly points are located or vice versa. You can then combine those points together, but only at the 7 month window since only Poly points can be booked at 11 month window and only SSR points can be used for SSR at 11 month window. At 7 months though, you can combine the points from your transfer and what is already in that memebrship for a larger stay. While you're right that you can't transfer banked or borrowed points, you can bank or borrow the points once they have been transferred to a different membership. However, all transferred points still maintain their own use year, banking window, and expiration dates. When we did a transfer, we had June UY Copper Creek points transferred to our membership with all Feb UYs. The June UY showed in that account with those CC points until the full expiration- even after used they showed as 0 points June UY until the end of the use year.

I am a disabled content creator, and DVC member who loves sharing and educating about both disability topics and Disney. If you would like someone to work with you who knows what to look for to help your teams create accessibility resources for the parks and resorts, I would love to be a part of any of your projects. I also have a culinary arts degree, since I know many of you are foodies. If you are interested, let me know a good place where I can reach out to share info. I have not stayed at every resort just yet, but I would be happy to help you in researching and assessing as I agree that a good accessibility resource for the parks and resorts is a thing that is very much needed in the community. I just haven't had the setup nessesary to go about producing it on my own.
