Oris has been producing pointer date watches since the late ‘30s, pre-dating (pun intended) the Datejust! It’s a design that’s held up for 80+ years 🔥💚
Excellent review, thank you. On a side note,I don’t know how you can stand to wear watch so high on the wrist, it just looks so uncomfortable and unable to move your hand without digging the watch into it. I personally like the 80th anniversary version of this watch with the red tipped pointer hand a little bit better. I will be purchasing one of these in the near future. Your review was very helpful, thanks again.
I hope they do too, it would only make sense. I'm considering a 36mm but the 17-13mm bracelet is a bit drastic and I'm not sure how it would look. I have to say though that this 38mm case looks bigger than I would've expected.
Really hope they end up bringing the burgundy dial to the 38mm size and on a bracelet. That would be my perfect version of the pointer date. Good review!
The green dial looks better in the video than in photos. It kinda reminded a roulette table, a tint of red could have been a very nice touch at the end of the date pointer.
So glad my son and I stumbled across your channel! Love the watch and I got the grey one last week (you saw it on my son on Friday). What sold me was the pointer date being beautiful and different, and personally I love the wallet and strap! You do make great arguments tho showing the other straps... I thought the deer cervo volante thing was compelling and interesting. Great video, one of my favorite watches!
The grey looked fantastic. Hadn’t seen it in person until that day. Definitely try it out on some other straps. The grey is so color neutral it’ll work with anything.
Definitely the best piece that Oris has in their catalogue. BTW Christopher Ward is definitely not a step down - they compete at the same level - but you get more bang for buck with CW due to their direct-to-consumer sales model.
Amazing how much better this looks on that green strap. I also echo what others have said I really hope oris brings out more big crown pointer dates with coin bezels in 38mm (on bracelet!). As for these CV editions, I’d rather not pay a premium for a leather strap that I would want to switch out on day one.
If you would apply a few drops of saddle oil to that original strap, it would preserve and slightly darken it, and would also make it look and feel more luxurious. Beautiful watch!
Great detailed review. I'm still on the fence with the 38mm XCV grey version. Oris haven't made it any easier as they've just released a 38mm 403 caliber (dark royal blue dial and small seconds). Think I'm going to wait to see what new dial colours they release in the next 12 months on the 403 version.
Your video makes me doubt if I truly prefer the blue or actually like this very tonal combination of hues on the green better. I love the shots showing the depth and richness of the dial colour. What are the details of the silicone strap you have on at the start?
Arguably I like the blue dial itself the most but this watch as a whole the most. The green strap is linked in the description. It’s from archer straps
It’s a big surprise they are coming with a 38mm, but I love it. Do you know whether they plan to do the 38mm in bronze and other dial colours? That would be awesome. Do you have any information about this? Love your reviews!!
I don’t doubt it’s coming but I truly have no idea. It would be a waste to introduce this 38 size and never make another so I’m sure over the next couple months we’ll see some more variations. Appreciate you watching!
Mentioning the price difference over regular calf leather straps you need to mention Cervo Volante is a dear leather strap. That's what makes it unique and more expenssive, not just colaboration.
@@theknightswatch Really?! The crystal is almost 34mm? Incredible. That has to wear very well (and large) for a 38 dia case. Thanks! Nice choice on the green :)
@@datboytalkinrungotellem in person the pointer date track makes the dial look smaller on the 38mm. The hands only go to the outside of the 12 hour numerals which also helps. They really are one to see in person. Like Xavier the 40mm felt to big on my 17cm wrist. These wear really well. I'm still torn though as the newer 403 is the same size but has a much cleaner look and better movement.
Hey Knight, you are wearing the watch wrong at 6:03. You should not wear the watch on your hand but on the wrist! Strap it on behind the knuckle, higher up on the arm!
To each their own for sure, but the red (oxblood) is anything but underwhelming in my (biased owner) opinion. It's so rich and I can't think of anything like it on the market. Plus with the dial font, cathedral hands, and pointer date complication, I don't see how it could be considered underwhelming. But again, we all see things differently.
Oris, it’s time to change mineral glass to sapphire in the case back. It doesn’t cost much and even cheaper microbrand watches have sapphire in the case back…

Friendly size, attractive dial colors and balanced design really result in a nice watch.

Really love the Pointer Date. Love the 38mm. I'm gonna wait for a non Cervo Volante. Hopefully they have a 38mm with a bracelet in the future
Probably a good move, I don’t doubt they’ll bring a bracelet at some point to this size

Stunning . Hope to see this piece in my collection one day !
This watch grows on me more every time I see it.
Same here!
Been eyeing a pointer date for quite some time. This new version is gorgeous! Thanks for your review
Ya the pointer date is a fun one. Thanks for watching!

No arguments there. I’m sure I meant Chris ward is just monetarily a step down but I’ve always been pleased by what they offer
Fantastic and detailed review. I will be picking up the blue.
Gorgeous watch man. It really does seem rather perfect eh? Great presentation as always Xavier 🙌🏻
Thank you! I was surprised by how much I like it and seems like it’ll stay around for a bit. Thanks for watching Michael 🙏🏻

Love the design and dimension of this watch! Would definitely love to pull the trigger if my better half allows 😅 Thanks for the amazing review!!
Let hope she does it’s a great watch! Thanks for watching

Good suggestion and didn’t think of that!

Great review as always, did you upgrade the camera for this video by the way?
Thank you! And nope still just my iPhone, the watch just really wanted to work with me today haha!

Very nice...congrats!
Color good!
What is the exact model of this watch, I love everting about it. Awesome video.
Based on Oris references it is
01 754 7779 4067-Set
Or you can search up big crown Cervo Volante and find it too
Really beautiful watch.
Agreed!
Thanks for your great review! Where can i get the green strap?? Let me know the link:)
All the straps are linked in the description, green strap should be archer straps from Amazon
I didn't check the description. Thanks for letting me know :)
Beautiful! Can you please measure the width of the crystal or dial? (inner diameter of bezel)
Ya that measurement comes out to 33.8mm

@@dvpemberton Good points. 403? the navy dial 400?
where to get the strap holders ? ... the ones i see in the background of this video .
Nice watch
Does the Watch know when the months have more or less days and change accordingly?
Unfortunately not, you would need it to be an annual calendar for that, which would be much more expensive
@@theknightswatch okay thankyou ordered one its coming tomorrow

Have you tried it with a bracelet or a milanese strap?
No never have, and don’t have the watch anymore! Probably wouldn’t lookin to bad but for me, I think the watch looks best on straps
What are your thoughts on the other dial colours? Edit, nvm 15:38
No worries! Haven’t seen them in person. The do look gorgeous from the photos though
Where I live the Oris AD have one black 40mm for $1500 and the Cervo Volante for $2250... so an extra $750 for this beauty. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Very weird that they would be selling it above retail, unless you mean that includes tax, i currently have mine on Reddit for 1450
I have the Big Crown Pointer Date in red. It's a nice watch but at the same time, a bit underwhelming.
No the flashiest watch by any means but still unique enough compared to other offerings I think. the red in particular has a fantastic depth

Don’t like the deer leather strap. And a with premium too smh
@@SaSpursFan true. These ones also came with a wallet so that’s where a lot of the premium is probably coming from…I didn’t need a wallet 😂
if this watch were 100 ATM i'd own it. 50 ATM with a screwdown crown is just dumb
You totally ruin the watch with your ugly green strap
I had no idea, please forgive me
