NEW ORIS BIG CROWN CAL 400 Review here: ruclips.net/video/CY4Oz3MrtBc/видео.html -Falling
oris is winning!
'Cervo volante' (literally 'flying stag') is the word in Italian for a stag beetle. It'll echo the use of deer leather as well as the pilot watch heritage.
Fell in love with this brand so I purchased the Okavango a few months back, now I'm looking to score my second Oris. That Blue dial is just stunning. I know they're a bit high in price but you can't deny the quality that's there. Love what the brand has been doing lately.
the okavango was my grail watch sadly out of my budget so i went with the cocktail time ``matcha`` from seiko. enjoy your beautiful watch
I love your intro music. It gets stuck in my head all day 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
Beautiful blue and I love the hands
LOVE ...LOVE that Blue Dial...ooh and that Leather Strap... 😍
That is absofreakinglutely gorgeous!
Truly excellent video review of the Oris pointer date! Love the pace, perfect conversational manner, and great info on the movement quirks I’ve never heard before.
Glad you enjoyed it!
❤I absolutely love Oris❤ 😊😊
The Pointer date is one of my favourite watches without doubt. Understated elegance with a history. I've not seen the CERVO VOLANTE versions but my regular workhorse (or is that work reindeer) with the ox blood dial (why not reindeer blood?) on the old reindeer strap is not only comfortable but is nigh on perfect. I'd need to try my example against this model to feel the difference. The watch pouch and card holder are obvious improvements and would take a lot less space than carrying the supplied box around 🙂. Terrific photography as usual FT, very well done.
I have this watch with the green dial, and wear it often, The date hand is nice twist, but it is not easily seen in low light.
perfect review ! Thanks
One of my favorite designs. Interesting in the 38mm size.
Mine too!
Wow, love the review. excellent narrator, great shots and you made justice to an awesome watch. Can't wait to get my blue one!!
Hope you enjoy it!
Holy Moly! 🤭
That bleu dial Big Crown looks fantastic!!
That leather strap makes this one pop!
Thanks for sharing 🙂👍🏼
You bet!
So glad to have seen this. Thanks for having it on the channel, yeah the blue is the one I want, but now since we have seen that LE divers, we need to wait on this one ( for now at least)
Right on! Same feelings here. I believe this one I filmed already sold from this video! Its a hot one!
I have a green face Oris Aquis and love it. Just got a Big Crown Pointer Date, but not the Cervo unfortunately.
hope they will do a bracelet for this new size and instant buy
I was eyeing this one myself. Nice piece
Good choice!
Love itttt
I bought this watch on release, I couldn't resist. It's amazing, the blue dial changes so much depending on the light. Perfect size for a smaller wrist. Insane finishing, pointer date is fun, and the domed crystal is thing of beauty.
Only complaint is that I wish there was a bracelet option, I'm hoping they fix that in future releases
Grats! Beautiful watch!
after all these months, do you feel it was worth the price tag?
@@taylorbrennan4977 Depends what your budget is to be honest. I really enjoy it and feel it was worth the money. But if you're strapped for cash I would point you in the direction of a different brand
@@taylorbrennan4977 I bought it two months ago, and have really loved it.
It's actually a pretty reasonable price tag if you understand the details that went into making this watch - yes it's a lot of money but it's very good value for what they're selling.
that blue dial looks stunning - I am saving money to buy the watch soon
Really nice. It has to for the price tag. 😏
The movement looks great too.
But I don’t get the screw down crown but only 50m of WR ! 🤔
Love the big crown pointer date. It's in the running for the next purchase but the 41mm previous seamaster 300m is on top at the moment.
Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous! Though I think I'm partial to the green dial one as it seems more dressy with the coin edge bezel. Either this big crown or the bicolor Oris Diver 65 will definitely be my next watch. Both have so much character and so unique. Love Oris for not trying to be another, less expensive Rolex, Patek or AP.
I totally agree!
I’ve been thinking of buying a big crown pointer date for a long time, up to now two things have stopped me, the 40 mm size, and the possible competition for wrist time with my green Alpinist. This new size and blue dial makes the watch looks amazing, I’m running out of excuses not buy it!!!
Yeah man I would take it over in Alpinist it just wears so good.
Somehow I always end up buying the watch after watching your videos
lol! Our videos do make watches look about 50% better....but this one is that good.
The caliber 400 big crown is amazing, but I like the older cathedral hands version better (particularly the dial), but at 40mm it was a miss for me. Though I did try a few on, and it surprised me that they wore an OK on my wrist, but a 38mm version is absolutely perfect. I like them all, but the green dial would be the one for me. $2000 though... I don't know.
You can always email us to discuss it$
Deer tick?? LOL. It’s a stag beetle.
That blue one is lovely! How does the fit and finish compare to the Longines silver arrow?
Pretty much on par. Maybe slight lead for the oris as my silver arrow had some rough edge on chapter ring. The oris is simpler in design so easier to have less issues.
❤
I don’t think Oris modify the movement in any way other than sticking their rotor on it. Selita produce the SW221-1 which is a pointer-date movement.
Maybe, but Oris says it is SW200 based not SW221 so unless they are just being too general as in SW200 family then we have to assume Oris does it. Which isn't hard to believe as they make their own inhouse movements and are putting the red rotor on anyways.
hmm should I get this ORIS watch or get the 2 new Gen 9 Pokemon games hmm I get this ORIS sorry Game Freak
You can't take out quick release straps? what?
Wish it came with a bracelet
Maybe in the future! Because 19mm they probably working on it atm
YES this! (and for the 403 Big Crown too!!)
They need so cull some of the big fat deer in my mom's neighborhood and make watches out of them...
How’s the lume?
We forgot the lume shot but we have reviewed many big crowns check out any other big crown video. Same mediocre oris lume.
Blue dial is killer!
Expensive
Wow... Great design coming from Oris lately..
PS.. You forgotten the lume shot. 🤭
Haha yea check out the other big crown reviews if you want a loom shot. They're all the same
36h is very weak, i have a 40 years old very small woman seiko manual winding watch( 18mm width )that do 47h consistently
Thanks for sharing
Swiss deers 😂
the swiss-e-ist
I won't be buying a watch that is the product of culling deer - not a " win win situation" for the deer
Even if its to protect and preserve the forests of Switzerland?
This is the first time I've heard of killing deer in order to save the environment. Sounds like a bit of baloney to me ....
In some parts of the world, deer are invasive/pest and destroy large swaths of vegetation when left in large numbers, hence the need to cull. This usually ends up with 1000s of deer carcasses going to waste but these strap guys, Cervo Volante use the culled deer leather instead of it going to waste.
I've always felt like Oris should abandon this line and model. Not sure exactly why, but I think this design feels too dated for me. Also, personal opinion here; Printed dial gradation is blasphemy to me - a complete non-starter and I question their design practice and principles.
I think the big crown is their longest running and best-selling line so I don't think they would stop it. But thanks for sharing.
WTF? Best watch that they have.
@@Stanjara That's what you took from my comment? I didn't say it wasn't based on popular opinion...
@@mikekingsborough1 Yes, you said it should be abandoned. Dial is printed and color gradient is blasphemous.
I don't even understand how a mechanical watch can be dated but whatever.
I'm so happy that they make this in 36mm, you have no idea.
Is this one overpriced...yes. Is it highly overpriced... yes. Is it overpriced that you say fuck this...yes.
But it is pure class...having that pointer date...uuuufff. What other watch has that?
Apple watch gen2.. now that's dated.
Terrible opinion
