I had intended Lucy’s story to end this way since the beginning, though there were moments when I wrestled with whether or not to go through with it. In the end, however, I decided to stick with my original direction. There will be one more Jekyll & Hyde animatic to bring the whole story to its conclusion.

I think the saddest part is the fact that she knows Jekyll & Hyde are the same person, so I can only imagine her pleading with Jekyll to come to his senses as Hyde was killing her 😭😭💔💔

Okay I know I’m 4 years late… but in the 1995 version of the musical, the last thing Lucy says before she dies is literally “Henry!” It’s almost like she figured it out at the end.

After the song was over I’m like, “this was pretty good! You finally do my favorite Lucy song!” Then, I see Hyde and I’m like, “nonononononono! Please no!” One thing that I liked was how you made Jekyll transform back and see what Hyde did. Very emotional.
I had the same reaction to seeing him too. And yeah him transforming back was a really nice thing to add.
Are you sure Hyde transformed back to Jekyll? I don't think so. I think it was still Hyde, judging by those rings under his eyes. They are typical for Hyde.
And it would make everything even more emotional. I believe Hyde in his insanity truly cared about Lucy and could not deal with her leaving him. Especialy when he found out Jekyll helped her. He wanted to beat Jekyll, to prove him he cannot be controled. Then he got his insane episode, killed Lucy and, when that moment passed, cried over her dead body. For Hyde she was the only one who cared at least a little about him, so of course he was attached to her and would regret killing her.
My opinion, I don't force it on anybody.
@@MV-cs4bb I think Hyde and Jekyll and almost one at this point in the musical that it's hard to tell the difference anymore. I do think it was Jekyll at the end, and he's probably exhausted and now devastated.
People are still making Jekyll and Hyde animatics? Using the songs from the very underrated musical based off of the underrated novella by Robert Louis Stevenson?! _Heck yes!_

@@kieransaul2711 I've never seen the musical yet (I'm waiting for a good version tbh) but I guess that's how Lucy ends (I read that on wikipedia so I believe it's true)

I prefer them, truthfully. But the occasional tragedy has a powerful and enticing enjoyment to it, as well.

@@kittycatzuka I believe it was Hyde himself, judging by those rings under his eyes. They are typical for Hyde. As far as I know Jekyll does not have them this heavy.
@@MV-cs4bb True, but if you look closely at 5:21, you'll notice that he doesn't have Hyde's trademark fangs. He has normal-looking teeth, which leads me to believe it's Jekyll.
I suppose it's up to interpretation though.

4:23 to 5:34 - dark clouds roll in, and once Lucy is dead, her future died with her. Every one has said this before, but DAMN YOU HYDE!!!!
I should've known this was going to happen! I was holding out hope that Lucy would leave unscathed. I guess this is what leads to the events in "Confrontation"?
EDIT: I've just had a thought. What if Hyde decided to kill Lucy to punish Jekyll for trying to get rid of him in "No One Must Ever Know"? And at the end, he lets Jekyll take control just so he can see what Hyde has done, further torturing him.

Hyde actually killed Lucy because he was jealous of her love for Jekyll. I’m not kidding, it’s actually implied that he killed her out of jealousy.

But would that have changed anything? I think it was Jekyll who gave the letter to her and since Hyde shares Jekyll’s body and mind, he would also know that Lucy was leaving.

Technically she got her wish. She's off to start a new life...
This effected me way more than it should have.
I was so emotionally attached to her and I related to her so much (on certain things) and I just wasn’t ready for it.
I originally skipped through the video to see if it would end the same way as it did on stage. I was not emotionally prepared at all and then I rewatched the entire animatic and I am literally breathless.

The way her story went in this song, I felt you might Do what no one else would Do, and I love you for that ❤️ But when Hyde murdered Lucy, her death felt even more tragic 😭💔 She Was so close, But then Hyde appeared. I Was longing for a Good ending for her, But this one brings a better reaction. I LOVE YOU MICHELS! ❤️

I think Hyde felt sorry as well. He loved Lucy more than Jeykll did, but his lust for blood overpowered that love.

Holy shit I cannot explain how much I love this!
Okay, so as much as I love the song Sympathy and Tenderness reprise, I *hated* the setup. Lucy doesn't do anything before, and it's super under-choreographed (she usually just sings in the middle of the stage and goes back to bed). I really wanted to see a more active Lucy, or at least have her pack during the song and Hyde comes interrupting it, then S&T reprise. Just anything, because it's so much sadder to see how much she wanted it instead of just going back to bed. But this... This blew that wish out of the water. I am so happy this exists. Thank you.
Finally hearing this song honestly gives even more context to Confrontation,I already knew Jekyll was angry at Hyde and hated his guts,but this just makes it have even more sense

So in the “it’s a dangerous game” song we see Lucy find out that jekyll and Hyde are the same person part of me hopes that Lucy doesn’t blame Jekyll for her murder 😭😭

Oh god this was beautiful but it hurt. A song filled with so much hope only for it to end in tragedy. I think in the end it was both Jekyll and Hyde who were mourning her, I believe both of them were horrified by what Hyde had done.
Fan theory; what if Jekyll & Hyde were actually twins, but one of them died in the womb?
And what if “Henry” is actually the soul of the one who died in the womb, but he grew up thinking he was the original (because how would his parents know?) and managed to unknowingly suppress Edward’s violent tendencies for several years due to societal expectations of how one is supposed to act, only to accidentally unleash him when he created/drank the elixir?
Just a thought. 🤷🏻♀️

I'm not gonna lie, when I knew that Lucy was killed by Hyde..... I kinda laughed a little bit.....then I was kinda sad, cuz I knew that Jekyll needed a hug.

i love how well you rendered the motions throughout this piece, especially when it came to the climax as she whirls around on the hill! the expressions too were gorgeous, I'm not sure if this is the style you use that's easiest for keeping consistency with a ton of drawings for an animatic or if this is how you always draw but I love it either way! great work!

Today I watched jekyll and Hyde musical
It was so beautifully well done and th actors were perfect and it remind me of your video and I was surprised you upload it and now I am crying
I was totally waiting for a pained scream at the end. All the Lelouche and Shirly vibes.
While I love this, I think it would be much more heartbreaking if, rather than Hyde coming upon her on a hill, she goes to Jekyll's house as the one who gave her hope (where he's trying to keep Hyde contained) and Hyde kills her right there, centerstage, leaving her body in-scene for Confrontation.
Ya know, despite watching the play, I still thought she would make it in this one. Dang man. As while I was hoping to see a great animatic with the “Sympathy, Tenderness Reprise”, this ending was quite impactful.

@@revaslatts8011 actually lucy dies 3 quarters of the way through act 2 in the broadway play so the artist is obviously recreating the story as if he was single when he met lucy. And anyway there's only one song left so..
