The mood swifted impressively when Hyde became sure of himself. The man before that seemed like Jekyll, maybe a mix of Hyde and Jekyll?
After Hyde took his glasses off his intentions showed deliciously through, and the mood was thick and sensual. All the poses felt right, some of them were fresh and new for me to see. Touching seemed intimate and very able of creating pleasure.
The art style showed how tightly Lucy and Hyde were pressed together when they were.
I like this a lot.
Okay. Beware, small essay incoming!
This because in the book while reading (yes I am paraphrasing from the intro essay from the book) there are at least to me 4 personalities we see in the book,
-Dr. Henry Jekyll
-Mr. Edward Hyde
-Mr. Henry Hyde (Hyde is "in control" with Jekyll "residue".)
-Dr. Edward Jekyll (Jekyll is "in control" with Hyde "residue"
In my opinion, this is one of the main factors of their downfall, Those " residual" personalities neither of them are aware of and neither of them is accounted for. So these "residual" personalities, show up a lot more when the transformations begin happening without the chemical. Henry Hyde's uncertainty is the Jekyll "part" knowing, 'this is wrong'. But when the shift from Henry Hyde to Edward Hyde happens, the glasses come off, Hyde really has little of a filter or uncertainty. Which makes him so creepy, he just does with no thought. He doesn't care. (Which is what causes him to murder the old man.)
Jekyll on the other figurative hand has a LOT of self-control, which is why as the audience gets further into the story, hostility becomes apparent between Jekyll and Hyde.
Anyway, my apologies for the long-winded rant.
@@Sam-bm6yf I don't consider this long winded, or particularly ranty. It's a good and interesting point about neither main personality accepting that they overlap at times. It's prompted some ideas in me of different versions of multiple personalities in one head.
@@fairy5484 also been diagnosed, medication can help slightly, but some people have triggers for a "full switch" like a noise, or an image, anything really. While we are aware of our other personalities, and can sometimes talk to them, we are encouraged not to do so, even though it helps more than most medications
if you watch the animatic previous to this one, you see that the animator replaced hyde with Jekyll for a bit.
Honestly? I can never watch this all the way through because it just looks painful. Neither party is enjoying themselves and that's a HUGE red flag to me. Yes I am aware that's the point.

I actually think that having this be the moment she sees both sides of himself and having her still love and accept him adds a sense of romance to Hyde's personality on top of Jekyll's already charming demeanor. Hyde's goal is to live his new life to its fullest and experience everything he possibly can. Why not have love be a part of it? Excellent work on the storytelling for these animatics and incredible artwork.

Not quite. Hyde is the embodiment of Jekyll’s repressed primal nature, manifested in another personality. When he tested the potion to expel the evil nature from mankind on himself all of his primal, evil nature (lust, rage, jealousy, bloodlust, etc.) that he, like everyone else in the human race, tried to suppress in order to fit into “civilized society”, manifested in the form of an alternate personality. Hyde then set out to follow his/Jekyll’s desires and killing anyone who he felt wronged him in even the slightest way, from murdering members of the medical board of governors who denied him human test subjects from London’s insane asylum to use in his experiment, to seeking the physical pleasure of Lucy, the prostitute who he met at a brothel/musical entertainment bar he was dragged to for his bachelor party, to killing an innocent man who physically bumped into Hyde while walking down the street and didn’t apologize to him.
Lucy doesn't love Hyde for who he is. She is a case of someone who goes out with toxic men because she has low self esteem and believe she doesn't deserve better. He is a representation of her self hatred. its common for people to do this especially when their partner is manipulative like Hyde.
Hyde also only sees Lucy as a way to get back at Jekyll in the musical not because he loves Lucy.

I LOVE how you can't tell if it's Jekyll or Hyde at the end--was it Jekyll letting himself give in, or Hyde letting himself be vulnerable? How up in the air it is is VERY good.

Why not a bit of both? This animatic definitely interprets the tone of the song as Hyde in control, with flashes of Jekyll throughout. It's still sultry and seductive, some may say a little predatory, but it's also timid. Somewhat unsure. Trying to figure out if this feels right, y'know? I any case the whole thing is AMAZING.

Personally though I've always wondered what would have happened if their split personality came to surface sooner in the story. :3 I think it's an interesting twist.

I absolutely LOVE the new interpretation of Jekyll also being in this song, giving in to being tainted by Hyde's "feelings" for Lucy(even though it's an abusive relationship) but being reluctant before Hyde takes control. This new way of seeing it blew my mind and I adore this. Also, I know it's hinted at in the end of the animatic, but I always saw this whole song as being sang as Hyde has sex with Lucy, the beginning of the song as him leading up to it, but maybe that's just me. I still absolutely appreciate and adore these animatics to no end

I really like this to be honest, I always imagined Hydes and Lucy's relationship to be centered around nothing but lust and abuse. But this depiction really fits for me to be honest, it's scarily Accurate to how real life abusive relationships work because they're much harder to get away from then most people realise. Behind all of Hydes abuse and violence, it's clear he felt some genuine attraction to her. Maybe Lucy stayed with him because she believes that she doesn't deserve better, she loves Doctor Jekyll but in her line of work she's very much in touch with her own low self esteem and Image. So in her head staying with Hyde would be better than being alone, she doesn't believe that she deserves any better than what Hyde has to offer. Your art work is genuinely gorgeous! It really shows the fear, lust and pain in each of them. Well done 🌹
it's ironic that I consider whenever Jekyl or Hyde is in full controll to be in a sense "out of control" because while one is on control the other struggles to turn it around. While in this music both see the situation as "out of control" but it's the perfect balance of Jekyll and Hyde together, making it the only part of the play where he's trully in control of his own situation.
I just love how in the beginning we see how guilt written Jekyll is! Because he knows what is about to happen, and he can't do anything to stop Hyde. I always like to think him and Lucy are like close friends, and to Hyde that is much less than what he wants, so his desire for her is not just driven by lust, but a sort of vengience too.

I just see them both right here. Enough of Hyde to be sensual,and straight forward,not caring about anything. But enough of Jekyll to be patient,soft,and even careful.
This is kinda interesting! It seems that from this point on in the animatics, Lucy knows that Hyde and Jekyll are the same person? I’m excited to see how this’ll change their interactions in later animatics! Also, the art is amazing as always and I absolutely adore the way you drew shy yet attractive-as-hell Jekyll in the beginning, along with Lucy’s expressions throughout the animatic!

What I love most about S.K. Michels’ “Jekyll & Hyde” animatics is how the story is changed into one that many people prefer: Jekyll and Lucy Romance AND the conflict between the two people in one body.
Keep it up, S.K.! You’re doing such a great job and all of this is giving me chills. Can’t stop watching each and every one of them. ❤️
I personally believe that more of a focus on the two in one body conflict was the intent of the concept soundtrack. When songs got moved and replaced and words got changed, especially in this song, the piece got, IN MY OPINION, heavily flattened.
Nuances were lost. I'll take this song for example. Listen to this, and it's a mutual lusting with a mix of emotions underneath from both parties involved. Check out the version that made it to broadway and even with the various stagings, the lyric changes make it much more of a Hyde breaking down Lucy's resistance. Than the concept's mutual "eh this might be a bad idea but....... *grabby hands* waaaaAAAAANT!" With the Henry Hyde cameo in the beginning. Someone else on here mentioned the residue personalities. Which are also evident in the concept, but completely missing in every broadway version I've seen. Makes me sad really. The concept was so good, they just... lost something in the switch.

Cause the Broadway performance has Lucy portrayed as a victim of a dangerous man’s hypnosis and this one portrays a seemingly genuine forbidden romance we root for.
Dude I was thinking the same thing. But yes they have like different interpretations of the scene and yet this one is the better one. I hate the fact that he’s engaged, I feel like it’s so irrelevant to the story.

Jekyll does love Lucy, but since he’s “good”, he knows it’s wrong to want her as a married man; Hyde, however, is Jekyll’s unrestrained “evil” and can do whatever he wants, and what he wants is _Lucy_
I would love to see how you draw a new ending for this story since you have change the universe of the original novel. Maybe Lucy could accept both of them, Jekyll and Hyde, because, at the end, they are different parts of the same person. Maybe she could teach Hyde to be a little less maniac and Jekyll to be a little more assertive, since both of them seems to love her in their particular way. Who knows? I love the fact that you have drawn them with the same physical appearance, by the way. When I hear "A new life" (last Lucy's song), I can't help imagining Lucy and Jekyll/Hyde running away from the society that tie them and make them suffer and having a happy ending for once. I think that it could be an interesting way of reinterpreting the meaning of the novel. But that's just my opinion. I absolutely love your animatics from the music you choose to your character's design that it's AWESOME! You're an amazing artist! I would love to read a webtoon of yours someday.

One thing that I love about this one is that Hyde is there for most of it in the way Jekyll speaks and moves, but he doesn't need to do much before Jekyll does what he would have anyway. It reminds me that Hyde is still a part of Jekyll and not an entirely different character. Beautifully done.

I love Lucy so much but I always feel awful for Lisa/Emma. She was so cool and doesn't get nearly enough credit for her character in the musical. I mean, Hyde freaking threatened her life but she didn't give up on Jekyll because she knew that he, in his right mind, would never hurt her. Like, damn, girl. Respect

I listened to this song a bunch in anticipation for this and I still was not prepared... You captured the passion and tension so well and the bit where they circled each other and Jekyll flashed through Hyde about killed me....

I've been watching your Jekyll & Hyde Animatics for a while now, the sweet, the terrifying, and the sexy, and all I can say is: amazing. You should be proud of yourself for creating something so brilliant.

I love you payed attention to the change in his voice to switch from Jekyll to Hyde to Jekyll again. Once again, great character potrayal through their facial expressions and body language. You can tell that both Jekyll and Lucy are traumatized by the actions of Hyde. When they get intimate, it's almost desperate; like they want it to still be full of all their love for each other (if they are in love in your mind) but still are afraid of when Hyde will "appear" again. I believe you portrayed a perfect show of confusion, regret, horror, desperation, and the radical emotions that fly through them with their experiences in life, counting Hyde as one of their largest hardships currently. Splendid work! I can't wait for the next anamatic you do!
I may be here two years too late, but I can't get enough of this song in this depiction! It somehow outshines all the acted versions I've seen so far and I'm in love with it!

I was wondering how you were going to do this one, considering how you ended your No One Knows Who I Am animatic with Jekyll showing up in Lucy’s room. It was a nice twist on the song that honestly somewhat improved it, making it partially about Jekyll fighting against Hyde’s influence. Once again, you’ve outdone yourself!

That was the best video ever. Your draw style of the characters are well good. I really love how you draw Jekyll and Lucy, and Lucy look scare when Jekyll and Hyde flashing in front of her and Jekyll felt so sorry for what he have done to her with the knife so he visited her at her home and this is where the song it's a Dangerous Game comes in the song talks about how the two are in a lustful way about to do the devil's tango with each other at the end of this video did anyone see that coming.

There’s something about the sound of this song that reminds me of the songs I heard in Don Bluths movies years ago. It’s so haunting but the sounds of those instruments and their voices, and the notes they’re singing. It’s beautiful
