It's like that one scene in Airplane.
I don't know much about the musical, but I assumed he was doing it in a cocky "you'll-never-figure-it-out" sort of way based on how he was speaking.
I always figured it was more of an "I'm not talking to YOU about him because you think you know better than me about it"
Well its kinda accurate to the book because there he has sudden mood changes 👺
Let's face it, this song could only ever be a romantic waltz between Renfield and an absent Dracula
Beware subject is known to break into song whenever doctors come to check in on him, suggested that if you are to ask a question to do so in beat with whatever song he is singing or else his mood might become violent
Also be advised that while singing he may start throwing paint around.

Subject name [REDACTED] 2 years prior to his capture he attended to his garden at sunrise when he heard the voice of his 'master' (this master of his has not been named as of yet.) [REDACTED] has carried out 'preperations' for his master's arrival. He claims to know when, where and how his master is feeling, acting etc. Whatever this master is it sounds rather similar to Vampires. He says he cannot speak of the master's plans or true self.
Painting seems to keep the subject calm, just as long as no sharp objects are given to him the tools for painting seems to be fine. Spontaneously breaking into song is expected and rather melodious. Subject does not desire his hair to be cut and will be enraged if attempts to cut it are made. Do not speak ill of his master...last doctor who did had been injured gravely by a clay wire cutter.
Despite being put through rigorous experiments wounds seem to heal swiftly, along with slow heartbeat and cold body though no need to drink blood like the vampiric kind has arised.

But one of the jokers, because original from the comics there are 3 types of the same Joker, from different worlds. My fav one, is the one that is so sane, that he would be perceived as crazy. Jeremya from Gotham is kinda a good example of that. I do hate the fact they took out the jokes and kinda made him boring. But he makes so much sense that you can't disagree. Jerome his brother is way more insane just to be insane. There are no rules we are all just a cock in a giant machine is what. Jerome said. Jeremya said: Every artist needs a blank Canvas to work on. And so wanted to blow up everyone then he could rebuild the city as he saw how sick Gotham was. And that kinda made sense on a messed up level. You can't build on a sick foundation. What I find interesting with this is how he responds to mina. With a kind of curiosity, companionship, intimacy, and almost warning demenor. Which makes sense, if renfield knows Dracula’s thoughts, he KNOWS mina is the one his master desires most of all, which in renfields twisted mind makes her a kindred soul that he should prepare for what is to come, though he knows he is not going to survive what is to come, and he embraces his end for it will mean rebirth as a vampire or an end to his suffering and the madness of his mind for good. Either way, he awaits the masters kiss with feverish anticipation.
They really went with a homoerotic theme for this character in the musical didn't they

@@annbl99 it means when something has an implied or subtextual homosexual nature between characters, it doesn't always mean that there is a relationship between characters just that it can be thought that way, pretty much happens a lot when something has a master/servant relationship that involves any sort of worshipping

This is the most dramatic and emotional song I’ve ever heard and it’s literally just a crazy solicitor glorifying a fancy magical necrophiliac that hypnotised him
Love how you changed his hobby to painting it does a great job of not only showing the guys obsession with Dracula but also does a great job showing the scenes described while still keeping the main focus on the singer

But like he still seems to have sense, like when he was accused of simply imagining Dracula, that face he made was just one of “oh you poor fool” before he eerily but passively replies! AND IT JUST... THAT CHARACTERIZATION! ISH GOOD! This is wonderful and I cannot wait to see how you portray Mina!

You get a sense that this man has really spiraled out of control and really goes to show just how powerful Dracula is
I have never watched this musical but there’s no way this guy and his master (Dracula I’m guessing) haven’t done the Devil’s tango, if you get what I’m saying. Talking about, “his kiss”, at the end, they have definitely done it (even if the kiss in question probably refers to him biting and feeding off peoples blood).

Everyone’s talking about Renfield and how hot/crazy he is(and I get it, he’s really well drawn and portrayed) but I’m over here legit worrying for this woman in glasses. Like, what is she? One of his doctors? An interested party? Is she the same woman that was in Dracula’s painting or is it someone else? What concerns me most is Renfield’s interest in her throughout the song, saying he knows what Dracula wants and thinks about at all times- I can’t help but feel those words are aimed at her
Okay, you got most of that correct. The woman is Mina Harker, Dracula's love interest. She is not a doctor, but she has piqued the interest of Renfield because he knows that she's part of Dracula's plan in making her is own. Also, yes. She is the same woman in the painting!
The woman in the painting is Dracula's previous lover, who died long ago. I believe it's said that Mina resembles her likenesses, thus is why Dracula targets her.

I have a feeling you enjoy drawing characters that are absolutely insane (But in all seriousness, making crazy characters are difficult. You do a really good job at showing the craziness of insane characters. They always look like they’re aloof and having fun in their own world, and the creepy smiles sell it! Seriously, you convey insanity perfectly)

The way you do legs is my favorite way I’ve ever seen them done. They way they taper into nothing and how the lines give the impression of fluidity and movement. I think they’re really neat.

This is probably one of my favorite songs from this musical. It's so creepy and crazy, the music really taps into the guy's mind, showing how twisted it is. The art helps with that a ton too. White all the strange angles and posses he makes. It all works so well together, keep up the great work.
I don't know if any other artist that's perfected crazed looks like this. Well done! I can't wait to see Mina!

I've watched this video like 5 times now, I've read every single comment. This is excellent. The DEPTH of emotions. The way Reinfield's infatuation is portrayed, dude I can FEEL this man's emotions. This animatic is incredible. I literally know nothing about Dracula, nothing about this musical. And yet I got this straight away. Really excellent job, the artist just brought him to life and then some.
If I was there I would be yelled at by the others for being far more intrigued within art and hearing more about how he is able to hear his thoughts.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve watched this I could pay for the creator to solely work on these.

This is by far my FAVORITE animatic you've done so far- The sheer *emotion* you were able to capture and display! The madness, the surety, the self assured *insanity* portrayed in whimsical, dark form- I *love* this with every fiber of my being!

You truly never fail to impress. Youre by far one of my favorite creators and artists. All you’re animatics are so unique and gorgeous! The body language, the visuals, the story telling, the character’s depictions, it’s all wonderful! I can’t wait to see the next chapter of this story 🥰
