- In time for Halloween, let's meet Dracula and (another) Lucy! I'm very excited for this series, since Dracula is pretty much the OG drama queen.

The way I see it, Dracula is a lot more powerful that the Brides, and Lucy is on par with him with her power, meaning that "the first of my kind" refers to his kind of vampire, not vampires in general. Also, I'm not sure if this is canon, but I've always thought his Brides were sort of feral, half-mad creatures, unlike Lucy in that they have little or no self-control or intelligence to their hunting. Dracula may be looking for someone who can match him in his strategy and power, and his Brides just don't cut it.
@@aqullya Makes sense, if you think about it. Why else would Dracula have them stay in the castle while HE goes out hunting. Bringing them back something to feast upon to keep them from running amok and beyond his basic control. They don't act much like Strigoi, Dracula's species, so they must be a lesser. The Strigoi are one of the most successful, and prominent vampires because of their intellect, cunning, and ability to adapt to their environment.....so long as noone catches wind of what they truly are. And I have a feeling that Strigoi can only be made when the vampire in question feeds on their victim, and then has THEM feed on the vampire in turn. With human blood removed, and vampire blood inside of them, it would ensure a complete transformation is possible. Then again, I think he only did this with Mina (the mutual blood-feeding, that is), though there IS a chance he had Lucy drink his blood and covered his tracks so noone would notice any hints aside from the obvious bitemarks.
The Vampire is as complex a race as it is terrifying (when portrayed CORRECTLY), and there are many factors of intrigue to them. I'm just glad that there are others out there who have their own notions regarding Bram Stoker's work, and its titular character. There never truly will be a vampire quite like Count Dracula, in the end.:)
I always thought that he meant, Lucy was the first "bride" he made while oversea's from his homeland.

Maybe he didn't make them his equals, but did that for her? Because Dracula himself can walk in the sun and is still absurdly strong and resilient (although far weaker). I think the brides die, but maybe in this rendition Lucy wouldn't?

Right at 2:54 Lucy leans all the way off the wall singing "I have no mortal soul to save!" and Dracula grabs her arms so she doesn't fall off.
He looks so done in that second.
"That's not your soul, you will land on your face. Your wings aren't spread, got it? Here, I'll adjust you again, it's like riding a bicycle. Couple of false starts, and here.....we.....go."

I really like how the meaning of the phrase “Life After Life” changes between the beginning and end of the song. At first it refers to their new lives as vampires, but by the end it refers to their slaughter and feasting on humans.
The third season of Castlevania is taking a musical turn that I’m intrigued to see more of!

It's a very underrated musical, I'm glad animatics are getting more people into it
Everyone pokes fun at the first 3 brides, but look at how animated Lucy is, she's into it, she's still 'alive' enough to enjoy her new unlife. I can see that being a reason to turn a new bride often, to enjoy that manic energy that you don't see in Drac or the brides.

I think my new fav head canon is that Jekyll and Hyde the Musical and the Dracula musical happen in the same universe one after the other and poor London just gets bombarded with horrors like...every other century. Like at this point the citizens are just sitting thinking: what next untold monster of sorts is coming to plague us this time?

This song is genius, it took me a couple listens to realize it transitions from using "Life after life" meaning life as an undead vampire, then "Life after life" to mean living souls fed upon, one after another, adding to their kind. That's good writing.

Yay! A little part of me was suspecting that this was going to be the next one and I'm so happy because this is one of my favorite Frank Wildhorn musicals. Also ONE OF THE BRIDES IS BLONDE!!! I dont know why that always makes me so happy in Dracula adaptations. Already can't wait for the ones that you'll (hopefully) make for Its Over and Whitby Bay Reprise!!!

Anyone notice that the Brides, and now Lucy, are all wearing the same lacy collar? And the Brides' expressions as Dracula awakens Lucy? Implies a lot about their actual role to Dracula (chattel).

This still absolutely terrifying. Vampires always terrified me more in mental capability than physical. I mean yes physically still but that's more like the cherry on top. Unlike other monsters that are obvious and feral Vampires are discreet and have class. They lure prey at night men and women late at night most likely. A single vampire could have most of a neighborhood turned within a week or two before anyone noticed anything strange. Probably what's more horrifying that being caught by a vampire is catching one in the act. They wouldn't want you spreading the word and would want to silence you at the earliest opportunity. Even if you miraculously escaped an encounter they'll always know your face and your scent. Each night they would B-line straight to your latest location to try to kill you. You would have to literally chase the sun in a endless race against the night to keep them from reaching you. Every day your travel to get ahead of the sun just to sleep at morning of the next day. If you couldn't keep up and had to survive a night you'd probably have to take a plane or boat early in the day so when you get off it should be reaching morning. Hell probably a sea apart wouldn't keep you safe from them. They wouldn't get tired a single bit since they can't die, so they'd gladly chase your ass across the earth to kill you if you saw them. They'd probably deadass treat it like a game. Probably leaving little notes or pictures to show how close they are to killing you to drive your fear factor up so you'd run faster to keep the game entertaining for them. Not to mention it'd be a community hidden in ours in plain sight. You'd probably have one in your face from evening one and not notice. What terrifies me about Lucy in this case is how quickly she shed her humanity. She was recently turned and didn't even bother to question or wonder about her old life. She was up for be a blood drinking serial killer within seconds. *Shudders* Omg Vampires are way more horrifying the more thought you put into them.
