Thanks a lot for demonstrating how to use the Akai MPK mini-3, I got one I'm a beginner at using the Akai & DAW software, so your videos are really helpful, and encouraging thanks a lot.
I just ordered this controller. I record at home with very simple acoustic guitar and vocal setup, but I have wanted to start experimenting with some ambient sounds with my existing music, and also I’ve been a big fan of lo-fi so I want to try making some beats and songs in that world. I feel a little intimidated honestly because I’m just a GarageBand user and don’t know much about building beats or any of that. But I’m thankful to have found your channel because you make awesome music and you seem like a good teacher to learn from.
Ok but whose been here since his early reviews of the MK2 back in the day 😅😅 super excited to see them take in feedback! I think Akai is FINALLY able to take in customer response into product design??? So glad they're changing their ways!
Just got mine and it is my first MIDI controller. Took me a bit to figure a few things out and have a ways to go so more videos would be great! Subscribed and thanks for sharing! I'm an old school rock n roll guitar guy so this is a new realm for me but so far Reaper is working great with it and glad I didn't jump right into getting my wishlist Akai(MPC X) ha! Thanks again friend!
Man time flies. I bought my Mk2 based on your review video. Your videos were great already but they've gotten even better. Thanks for the great content!
I ordered one of these bad boys before even seeing this video... your overview of the controller got me pretty stoked for its arrival but the sick jam at the end is what really floored me. Good shit dude.
The Universe is truly amazing. Been looking at midi controllers for weeks on Amazon to replace my busted mk2. Now in the middle of a pandemic Akai dropped this hardware WOOOW. Only thing left to do is see what the shipping to Barbados is going to be like. There is a force in the Universe indeed. We'll done AKAI. Taetro keep producing those videos man. You keep us up to speed.🙏🏼
I didn't actually think anything could make me want to ditch my MPK 2 black. This is beautiful!!! Well, eventually I'll need a replacement for sure. BTW, I've opened my MPK Mini 2, and in fact the keys ARE just a piece of bending plastic. There is literally no mechanism other than that, so I am VERY glad to hear they've changed the keybed!
I love the White "storm trooper" version. I use Ableton too and you gave me great insight on the new improvements. I have the an old MPK 1st version. Looking to upgrade all equipment to white. Great video.
Amazing tutorials, who needs education when you've got this! Keep em coming, you inspire and motivate your viewers with a AHA moments after another! Cheers!
You are on your way to that 100k subscriber mark. That's so awesome. I've been rocking with your content for only a few months now but everything is so well done, informative, and entertaining. Picking up a lot of valuable tips for my channel. Also after watching this video I feel like I need this keyboard for my iPad pro (even though I really don't NEED it but you know what I mean 😎)
This is such a great update to the MPK Mini -- but now it makes it harder to choose between this and the Minilab mk2; I see in the comments that a comparison might be underway -- I'd love to see you compare these two as well as the Launchkey Mini mk3! Thanks, Taetro!
Lack of real MIDI out for direct connection to hardware synths is a clearly missed opportunity here (especially with the nice new OLED display to show configuration data, and the build in hardware arp).
@@joielollis the problem is this is mainly aimed at amateurs which won't even have midi cables. Pros wanting to use this can always use an adapter if necessary.... It was a cheap controller in the end. I know it's not ideal but I guess most of their market is really not "pros". I love it, and I wouldn't necessarily consider myself an amateur although I'm also not an actual producer so... who knows. I understand where you're coming from though, I just personally appreciate the fact that it's not using a midi cable as otherwise it would add more converters to my iOS setup. I already have to convert a few midi outs to usb midis and it's a pain lol, to the point where I've now opted for buying Bluetooth MIDI devices to simply send midi in/out signals through those instead (mostly).
prod. Heinz Schmidt yes you’re right and I’d argue that a profesional will probably have both usb a/b cables and also midi cables. Probably also some converters too, if they really need them. As I said, I do, and it’s not even really a source of income for me. But yeah, ultimately I’m just saying it’s not such a big deal imo.
5:02 you are absolutely right. My mk2's keys has been broken due to the fracture of the only part of the plastic which supports the key, which is definitely not reliable enough to consider a pro product.
I NEEEEED ONE!! Please send that STORM TROOPER VERSION MY WAY... My MPK Mini's Keys are broken, (6) of them. I keep gluing them back on but that's a temp fix.
Thanks, I just purchased the AKAI MPK-3 mini. In my opinion, this video is more informative than the web-site. Can you make a video explaining the function and definition of those infinity knobs and the notations above the bank of keys. Once again, thanks for the tutorial.
Make a review on the software included in the akai mpk mini mk3 please! It will be helpful for me to decide whether buying the mk3 or the arturia minilab mk2! PLEASE!
I notice a couple of people on utube have complained about the lack of transport controls. I suspect it is primarily because general MIDI does not have transport control messages, so they would be inherently specific to one piece of software.
My thought on the new Akai MPK Mini MK3 : Definitely seems like a really great MIDI controller, it also looks so much better than the previous versions in my opinion. Very much appreciate the video. Been looking in to starting this, and haven't found a decent, simple explanation of what each key does, mind you im brand new, so I know nothing. Nonetheless, thank you.
Just letting you know that although it says it requires power on iOS (MPK Mini 2), it doesn't. It will ask for it, but you can trick it by simply plugging it to a powerless usb hub, I do this. It is indeed not practical however, but yeah, you can.
I'm mad, that there is NOTHING in the package, that tells me how to use the MPK ...but glad you are showing this all, no idea how I would have found this all out by myself.

A 'Lite' version of the software is included with this controller's competitors. You do mention this in your other comparison videos.
Awesome upgrade on the AKAI MPK Mini! The new aesthetics are very welcomed, and also I hope it really has sturdy keys and not that plasticky feel. For the time, I own an M-AUDIO Oxygen25, which is also pretty good.
I was about to buy mkii. I’m glad I just saw this video. I remember from one of your other videos that you expected Akai to answer to the MiniLab and LaunchKey mini newest versions. I couldn’t wait and now it’s here. I wish they had a quick setup for Cubase, which I use, but I think I’ll manage. I haven’t seen it on Amazon yet, hoping to use a gift card to purchase it. Just picked up the MK3 yesterday, and love it. I'm just starting out making my own beats to add to my composition tracks. I agree with one flaw you mentioned, a quick record would be awesome to have. I was playing with the Grand app and fell myself into a nice melody. Problem was... could not find a record... anywhere. I will have to work at the new apps some more, hopefully find a record button, but having one on the keyboard would of been a major plus.

Maybe
16:08 - The moment when you get too excited with the beat, hit the front pad way too hard and your AKAI MPK mini just flies with a good final BOOM.
XD Just kidding bro very nice video I love it! I am buying one of this and hopefully with your content I will be able to learn how to start producing on Ableton!
Im starting out electronic music.... guide me to choose between arturia mini-lab mkII and Akai mpk mini
both are great - pads are better on the mpk
The Akai has better pads
The Minilab has a shit load of infinite encoders
Do you think that a beginner should buy the Akai mpk mini play or mpk mini mk3?
