Game finished 75 Hours Total Great Game i enjoyed it immensely on the PS4, Cant wait for Elex 2 Bring It On
lol same here, just finished it! 75 hours of PB goodness! i wish i had time for another playthough.
I finished the game at like 60 hours and had to grind for a total of 80 hours for the last trophy
Finished the game yesterday after 60+hours of game. I took me a while to like the game and holy hell am i sad I finished it!!
Yes it’s often clunky and it feels ... rushed ? Quite a bit ? But i loved the story, the world, the companions... anyway, I’m here for elex 2!
I'm 20 hours in currently and still working on the 1st area (Berserker quests) I love taking my time with this game. Such a beautiful world to explore with lots to discover. I have much respect for Piranha Bytes and the magic they bring to their titles. I will definately be preordering the sequel!

Except for some rare cases, I think that its pretty obvious what choices increase your cold and which decrease it, after you realise that its not about being good or bad, but actually just about being emotional or thinking logical. Wanting to kill someone for revenge is "bad", but emotional.
Maybe I just had the problem with this, I dunno =P
My problem was in order to be emotional I had to curse at too many people, which I didn't like :-(
most of the errors u international see is a "lost in translantion" problem. the English version has ~90% rewirtten the dialog (the german version has waaaay lesser boring lore explanition in it and more jokes) and alot of the times the german verion had a icecold answere while the english version has just a simple question. i remeber the guy at the lift for example "and if they make it u kick them down" (german) - "and what u do if they make it?" (english) or something like that.

duras is in the german version not the one who defend himself against askor, he killes him coldblood because askor had success and he dont. so sparing him is ofc a oportunistc cold choice. etc etc
and yes iam the crazy gu who played this game 4 times , 1 time complete english :D
agree, once understood the cold meter is emotional vs logical the responses to actions were more predictable. A little annoying it was easy to increase cold by stat buffing elex potions but no oppositie option with warming mana based options (berserker) or warming chems (outlaws)

u actually do use magic , ur weapon and ur armor is magical improved. i not 100% sure if u have the explantion in english but u can ask about the armor and they say "ofc our leather armor can stop plasmaweapons, because they are enchanced with mana"

I finally got this game 2 days ago when a friend on Xbox gifted it to me because it's on sale for only 9.99. So far I'm really enjoying it. Im most likely going to join Berserkers for my first playthrough and then probably Clerics then Outlaws. Elex 2 is also on sale for only like 23 or 26 dollars. I hate being poor otherwise I'd also pick that up as well along with Risen and Risen 2 which are also on sale for 5.99 each. I need to connect my old 360 to the internet and check the store because Risen 3 may be on sale for 5.99 as well. If it is then I will probably try and get Risen 1 and 3 before the sale ends and esp3cially because the 360 store will be closing this June or July. I plan on getting quite a few 360 games before the store closes because there are a lot of great exclusives that are digital only or at the least they aren't backwards compatible on newer consoles. (Update) Risen games on Xbox 360 are 4.99 each on sale not 5.99, my mistake!
I whole heartedly agree with your review up to a point. The problem with PB is that they're NOT re-inventing the wheel, they just keep using the same one ever since... bloody hell, the first risen game. That's the problem with them, as CDPR has said previously. Constantly re-inventing the wheel is what makes you better as a developer, because you're constantly challenging yourself, constantly improving, if you keep doing the same thing, like PB does, they'll stagnate, and then, lose quality, which is exactly what happened to them. Other than that, I fully agree with everything you've said, keep on doing videos mate, you're doing a pretty good job.
+Mal' Ganis Yea they aren't changing much from title to title. When I mention that, I was aiming more at the setting and lore, when I said that. I don't want them to do similar thing like they did with Risen 2. A complete 360 on the story and the theme that the first game established. But I agree that they should try and leave their confront zone a bit. But that comes with a big risk thou, and everything could fall apart. Tnx for the nice words!

Nice Review. I have the same points as you about it. The world is huge and I like that you can do all of the side quests right from the start. You don't need to join a faction if you don't want to or just try to figure out which would be cool. It makes the later chapters easier but well could be worse. I've missed the cool smithing skill. Sure you can upgrade your weapons but not forge one. And I don't know where to get so many socket stones to put into the weapons. I had no last tier stone, just medium at the end. But the world is nicely done, very big and it's fun to just run around and deal with the hardest enemies right from the start. I like that.
I just beat the game as well (59 hours), also as a Berserker. I went more Magic/Melee hybrid. My complaint is that I wanted more buttons on the action bar. There are a lot of really useful spells, and it pays to have a mana potion, health potion, food, and a ranged weapon on switch. That doesn't leave a lot of room!
But overall I love this game. Once I figured out how the melee system worked, it felt better and better. Thanks to you for showing me the way with your videos!
Oh, a fellow Berserker =P . If you wanna full action bar, outlaws are the right choice. Drugs and stuff. Glad I could help a bit!
Pouncing Fox I'm clocking in at 70 hours now and I haven't even joined a faction yet. Just exploring. Awesome game.
I too "berserked" and focused on ranged ... I would have liked more button options, but with a console controller that is way harder to implement than a PC mouse and keyboard
Pouncing Fox I played for 80 hours factionless and then decided to join the Outlaws. My own Mad Max RPG 😄 I haven't regretted that decision. The quests you get from them are great. I'm not a religious guy and I get to blow up Calaan shrines and extort people. Loving it!!
Thank you for the post-review, it was interesting to hear your thoughts after a while has passed since you played the game.
I really hope there will be an ELEX 2, but it doesn't seem to me like there are any signs of this happening. I've read a few posts by other players who also want and hope for an ELEX 2, but that's all. There's been no rumors that I know of, but maybe some other viewers have more information on the subject.
Elex 2 has been confirmed by Piranha Bytes. There will be no dlcs for Elex, since they said they are working on Elex 2 already.

Nice video! I have enjoyed Elex alot, I have spent 90 hours on it. My only big issues are the crappy companion ai and the games animations. Fix those things and Elex 2 will be even better!

I see nothing wrong with the animations!? Nd why better companion AI against such few foes? Unless there is that many? In more encounters near the end? Cuz i still am playing it. Doing as much as i can before beating it. I rarely never see more than five enemies at a time. My complaint would be more enemies. Nd more groups of enemies. Coming at once! Like say 10-20 terror birds or whatever they r? Or maybe a group of people followed by a couple of really powerful trolls (ones never seen before). I mean why always stick with the same characters? Mix it up somehow! Of course it is a bit hard lol. So u would have to circumvent a way around that. But if i made a Elex. I would add a bunch of characters like they have. But why not? Some characters. Who r out of the ordinary? Something or someone u never expect? U know!? A handful of encounters. 10-20 that were different than usual. Then i would feel i was playing something incredible. It reminds me of Skyrim (Skyrim obviously a bit more polished). I prefer Elex though. Great game (Skyrim). But lacks. The same old ordinary ideas or foes.

I completed the main mission at 45 hours ... finding it a challenge to occupy myself now that there seems nothing much more to do than open wolrd wndering and killing random mobs.
Agree, the companion combat AI was appalling .. hardly worth having them at all after midgame. Crucial for early game survival though as a mob distractor. You just have to make sure the companion gets hit and pulls aggro.
I have played over 90 hours and will play it again. A wonderful game
Click4 I really need to ask . Are we really getting an Elex 2 ? I mean is it unofficially ' confirmed ' ? I loved the Elex and I spent so much time getting lost in the game .
Also that Spider studio that grated Greedfall , In the past , had a game called Bound By Flame .
I LOVED that game .even though it was super awkward control wise with tank enemies .
If you haven't tried that game. I would suggest you try it . A certain unlikely companion will steal the show.

Are there major spoilers in this video? I'd love to watch, but I haven't finished my 1st PT of ELEX. I know I know, silly question but if the video is spoiler-free I'd enjoy hearing his impressions.
I dont relay care about the mainstream Media and there opinion on Elex, i am just happy they make this game for me, that i can enjoy so much more than any other Game. Just like you said all i would have liked would have been a bit more important side-quests. I like it when there is one familiar Place (like Khorinis in G2) that you constantly return to during the Game but every time there are new quests, traps or NPC´s you have to interact with.
Abessa would have been the Perfect Place for something like that, but after you finished the first couple of quests that are presented to you, nothing realy happens there anymore. You just continue to follow the main quests line til the end...

I also chose the berserkers as i related with their motives best. Game was good but absurdely tough at first and until u get a decent weapon. Also i felt like the safes were not really Worth opening as it Always contained crap items. All in all i had fun with it and enjoy the story. Also managed to platinum the game which wasnt too hard to do.
How did you hide the healthbar on the video? I mean, you still have the hud displayed but not the healthbar.
It says a lot about the explorability of a game, when a skill player like you takes such a time to complete it.

As I perceived it, a lot of my playtime comes from getting the crap beaten out of me by small enemies time and again because of the combat system, which is garbage.

is the combat system decent? i've been on the fence weather to buy ELEX because i knew it's more Risen than Gothic 2
I am ~ 50 hours into the game and I am kind of stuck. Just can't motivate myself to go further.
I am not that experienced in this kind of game and Elex keeps kicking me in the balls. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with "hard and challanging", but this game...
A lot of fun in RPGs come from getting your ass handed to you by stronger enemies, then coming back stronger and taking revenge. Not here. I almost never feel that satisfaction, I never feel strong or at least _adequate._
And I hate it how the game forces you to play in certain ways. I always hear things like... you need a companion, you need a strong weapon right in the beginning, you need to use those utterly OP flamethrowers. I _should_ not need to.
Don't get me wrong, there are so many things I love or even adore in Elex. The story is interesting, the landscape is beautiful, exploration can be a lot of fun... but I am sick of the way Elex nails my feet to the ground, kicks me in the balls from behind with steel-toed shoes and then mocks me for being so slow and clumsy.
I have finished Dark Souls 1/2 and I _never_ felt so annoyed like I do so often while playing Elex.
I found out that grenades works great against strong enemies. You can grind a lot that way :-)

My first play through I was super disappointed because, since I was cold, I couldn't team up with the Separatists and I had to join the Hybrid at the end :/.
I agree with some points but story and dialogs are rly bad. Even the game intro is so immature and almost comedie like

I consider Risen 2 to be the worst game from Piranha Bytes. I found Risen 3 really mediocre. I'm address this in my new video that I'm uploading tomorrow.

I enjoyed ELEX .. purchased discounted on PS store.
Buggy as hell, flashbacks are blackscreen on PS4 Pro and 4K TV, there is a memory leak that makes gamepaly impossible after a few hours (the issue is failure to draw environment after cutscene or teleporting ... step forwards into nothingness and fall into the world) ... or moving becomes impossibly laggy. Fixed by rebooting PS4.
Companion combat AI is appalling, the lack of conversation variety with Trader NPCs is mindnumbing ... huge effort in the dialogue and almost none in trader conversation ... and casual environmental conversation is awful ... unrelated, random comments between passive NPCs does not a conversation make.
Player combat is a challenge - needs a gentler start. Dodge is unpredictable, as is auto-aiming.
In comparison with old games ... and some of the more recent RPG style games it feels like an MMORPG that when under budget and was dumbed down for single player.
Yes I am critical because it could have been so much better ... I hope ELEX 2 is ... and I really hope that there is the ability to port my ELEX build into what is clearly the next stage in the story.
