I am sooo lucky to have had the opportunity to share flats with indians while I was studying in the UK. I was smart enough to ask them to teach me some of those divine recipes and now I can make my own indian dishes living in Brazil. Indian food is the best!!!❤
Finally somebody mentioned warming up the stainless steel pan dry! When I first started using stainless steel THIS WAS THE TIP that kept me persevering because caramelisation = flavour
I have used curry in literally almost all of my cooking for the last 12 years and am a bit used to the smell and slightly yellowed items here or there by now 😅🤣
My parents both love to cook foods from various countries orgin and in my childhood days therefore our apartmemt (and obvioulsy also my clothes) also smelled like spices - I remembered now when you mentioned it, this was noticed by my childhood friends as well. Now as an adult I am living in a country where we have big shops only for spices and it is like paradise for me I feel like a happy kid when I enter these shops 😊 & I am so happy I grow up with a love for cooking and trying out new recipes❤
I still have some american friends who say things like “oh that spices shit smells a lot” or if i enter the room “you smell like curry, did you have dinner”
@@RainbowPlantLife I also have thoughts about this "I wish I would have said that when I was a kid", but I did it once: I live in Finland and we have snow and frost always in the winter. My mother always sent me walking to school and in the cold I had to wear a beanie. I didn't take it off until I got into school. Once on the other side of the road was a guy known as "tough" who shouted across the road to me: "Does your head freeze when you wear a beanie!" I told him, "Actually NO - because I'm wearing a beanie!" He never came back to it. And I was satisfied that I told him according to the facts of physics LOL btw: Nisha is beautiful!
I watched the video yesterday and after a long day today I needed something to eat that was comforting, indulgent and still healthy. Voila, it's all of the above! It tastes exactly how it looks in the thumbnail and it's to die for! Thank you so much ❤🤗🙂

OMG!!!!! I made this recipe, and it was a hit!!!! I am Mexican and my husband is from Punjab India he couldn't believe I made it because it reminded him so much of his mom's cooking 🥰! I def enjoy watching your videos and soon will try another recipe.
I am French but I lived in London for a while and some of my favorite food was Indian. Even the Indian take away were so good ! I love your recipes and you sell them so nicely. I will definitely try most of them, I love spicy food and those are the kind of meals I love, healthy and tasty.
NISHA! I have followed you for a long time and your recipes are a favorite in my house. I just watched your jackfruit curry vid from 3 years ago when you first quit your job to become full time food expert. I am amazed at how joyful you look now versus then! You're very brave to make the career change you did but just judging by the joy in your face now, your bravery is paying off! Thank you for keeping my belly and my heart full!!
This was a beautiful experience watching you make that precious curry! Oh yes, I would use an entire heaped teaspoon of coconut sugar. You will never taste the sugar but it just balances out all the flavours and brings them together.
I absolutely LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE the smell of curry! I worked in homecare for a period and I helped a family that made (they were Pakistani) food from scratch EVERY DAY. All vegan. Roti, dal, you name it. It opened my eyes and my taste buds to a world I never knew existed!!!!!! I have to say it is a cuisine like no other. It goes to your soul!
@@yoginc I also cook with a Paki friend and since I'm vegan, he cooks vegan. The only surprise for me was the time the dish needed to be ready. As an Italian, I can cook pasta in no time. It took him 4 hours to prepare Pakistani food but of course it was great.
Looks spectacular. Very complex, very sophisticated. Wonderful ingredients... chances of stocking my pantry adequately with all those ingredients and cooking them together in the right order? Zero.
I’m a student with a tiny tiny kitchen so I just wanted to say I really appreciate delicious meals like this that are relatively easy to make in a small kitchen with limited ingredients! And it was also surprisingly fast to make so it fits in my schedule! Thank You!
I just made this today for dinner, and it was aboslutely delicious! I normally go for the classic Chana Masala with the ready-made spice powder, but this was an interesting take on the classic, especially with the creamy coconut milk. It was a perfect, wholesome and comforting meal on a cold, winter evening. Hubby loved it! Thanks a lot Nisha 😊
Love how all natural this video was. She wasn't trying to be a perfact home cook. I felt like I was sitting in a chair, talking with her while she cooks. Awesome video. Subscribing for sure.
Wow, you have elevated patronizing to a galactic level! Bravo 👏 Yes you're correct! All natural food was used, REAl pots and pans! In a REAL kitchen (with a professional style stove behind her). And the FINAL TOUCH! Areal and natural person! Like, omg, lmnop I haven't seen an all natural video since everyone started using fake people. You are so keen on spotting natural videos, you are very smart! Kudos, rainbows, unicorns and hearts to you!
This is amazing. I have cooked various Indian dishes for 40+ years, but this is a blast of flavor and freshness that really shines. Since I have chronic kidney disease, I have to leave the salt pretty much out of the recipe, but it doesn't matter, it is terrific as a low sodium meal, and that's hard to find in restaurants or prepared food. I pressure cooked my own chickpeas, and used cherry tomatoes right out of garden. Wonderful!
I just made this a few hours ago, didn't even notice you uploaded a video for it. It was a flavor bomb! The only downside is that i should have doubled the recipe because 2 hungry eaters can gobble it up really quick (2-3 days max. Thanks for another outstanding recipe! Sending you love!
Another great recipe. Thank you so much for providing a canned tomato translation - March in Scotland is hopeless for fresh tomatoes, they basically don't exist!! 😢This looks perfect for our weeknight dinner xx
This is a household favorite recipe in my family now!! I make it with caramelized honey maple butternut squash cubes and brussel sprouts. I’ll be making this forever, I cannot thank you enough!!
This looks incredible. I love the vegan red lentil curry but am always looking for more ways to incorporate greens into my diet without the fuss of constant weeknight chopping. Thank you!
not sure if what I made even counts as a curry since i apparently do not have curry powder and couldn't find any leaves BUT this absolutely slaps, my boyfriend said it's one of the best meals i've ever made!!
I made this last night for dinner. I used fresh Swiss chard from the garden. It was DELICIOUS, the mint and cilantro made the finishing touch for taste. This is going on the repeat list. Thank you Nisha!
I ordered whole spices and the curry leaves for this, for the first time. Just made it, it's so good Nisha!!!! I don't think I've ever made a dish with so much flavour depth. Thank you for the extensive recipe with all the notes, that really helps a person like me! Thanks to you I'm eating more vegan food than ever, and I'm loving it! Kisses from the Netherlands ❤️
If you use canned tomatoes and want them to dissolve into the sauce, use whole peeled tomatoes. Cubed or diced tomatoes are treated with calcium chloride to prevent them from breaking up.
One of the best curries on YT so far. Made this curry many time adding different greens and every time it is spectacular!!!! Thank you for the recipe!!!!
WINNER!!! This is just dynamite. Even though I’ve made it now 5 times in the past month, I have to return to comment how divine this is. If you’re an experienced cook of Indian cuisine you know how perfect the symmetry of the flavours are here. Once I also added some kasturi methi leaves (dried fenugreek), very nice!
I was making similar stuff, but with red lentils. When paired with rice it creates a wonderful dynamic of very flavorful, spicy stew and somewhat bland rice that helps cooling the tongue if the dish is too hot or large amounts of chili are used
Watched the video this morning and promptly went to the shops to acquire the few items I was missing. I made this curry this afternoon and my kitchen smells fabulous. Really looking forward to eating it tonight! 😊
I did this recipe today and ended up totally pleased with the outcome, it felt right from the beginning and in the end the taste was just what i expected, what a connection 🙃. Although i didn't have curry leaves. Thanks a lot and congratulations.

Just made this for dinner - alongside basmati rice - and it was absolutely delicious! Creamy, thick, deeply flavorful, easy to make. Lots of leftovers, which I’m looking forward to eating in the next few days. Thank you, Nisha, for another winner!
I made this immediately after watching the video, I happened to have all of the ingredients. It is absolutely delicious! I ate some right away with brown basmati rice (for breakfast); however, I’ll be taking the rest of it to work with me this week for lunch. Thank you for another delicious recipe!

this was great! i couldn't get a hold of curry leaves unfortunately but it was still very tasty. it took me roughly an hour from starting to finishing gobbling it up. i used cherry tomatoes cause they tend to taste alright in winter and i used kale, which was tender after around 8-9 minutes. can definitely recommend to use both mint and cilantro cause yum yum that stuff tasty :) thanks for sharing accessible indian inspired vegan cuisine, i've cooked many of your recipes!
Loved this video, really really good presenting too. Some great tips I'd not picked up on before - using garam masala at the end, rather than the beginning has blown my mind and I feel robbed that I was doing that wrong all these years!! 🙌👌
We love curry leaves so much we bought a curry plant! Yummy! Actually just had a creamy chickpea curry at our local VegFest today. Can't wait to try this!
Made this late-night, didn't have the chilli or the fresh green. Used homemade masala from previous meals and small cauliflower florets. It's very similar to a spicy chickpea recipe my wife uses, so she kinda kept me right. Definitely getting chilli and chard/ kale to make next time. Good video, be checking out more.
i did some willful and some less willful replacements and a small processing error and this dish is already tasting absolutely fantastic. to be frank, i have never cooked with whole seed spices before and i am going to buy all the whole seed spices now ;). if i cook this 2-3 more times, its probably gonna be one of the tastiest things i have eaten.
I made this today and it's exquisite! I recently quit meat and this channel has been so great in helping me consume tasty and healthy food. Thank you so much, Nisha! So grateful for your content
I made this by substituting white beans, and pea milk. I also added in Thai chili peppers, and half a habanero for extra spice. It was the first time I had ever had curry, and I fell in love with it. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I made it for the first time today. Following the steps and omg it is the BEST chickpea I’ve ever had! Never been a big fan of chickpeas before but I think I fall in love with this chickpea curry today❤
Made this tonight! Added broccoli & some bell peppers instead of kale. It was soooo good! ❤❤❤ I need to buy your cook book! This is my 4th? recipe I've made by you & each one is a WINNER! Taking some to my coworker tomorrow
I made this for the second time today. I'm not great at cooking curries but this recipe is easy to follow and tastes amazing. My wife is impressed by my skills. Thanks so much
I was excited to make this tonight, and it was amazing! The mint really added the magic touch. Can’t wait to have the leftovers for lunch, and drop some off for my friend. We love watching your videos and eating your delicious recipes. Your parents are so funny! Maybe you could have them on for a Q & A show?
Made this tonight for dinner. I used jalapeños instead of Serrano peppers because one of us has baby mouth. Also I used a mixture of collard, mustard and turnip greens instead of Swiss chard. It turned out great.
I remember I knew nothing of how to cook but my cholesterol was insanely high a few years back, my doctor literally said it was at the level of a 50 year old stressed out man. So I started cooking a lot of what you show on here and it helped me a lot. Can’t wait to make this- love most of your recipes thank you :)
I really like curry and I make it with a variety of legumes (I'm thinking of trying yellow peas too, I think it would work nicely). I also that discovered my elderly grandma apparently loves spicy food :D
I made this today and oh my it is delicious! Biting into the whole spices was a nice and flavorful surprise. I will make this often and will make the tofu curry later this week.
Hi, this is the first time I am watching your channel and any video of you. I am from India and live in India, your take on white chole is very unique and I love it. I'll try making it your way next time.
I made this again this evening (4+ times). It’s delicious! I only had 1 can of garbanzos so I added 1 sweet potato. Delicious! We only need 1 Serrano pepper for our liking. Served over jasmine rice and with a beer- it’s a great meal. Don’t leave out the mint or the cilantro- they are a must
First time I’ve been able to make curry that tastes better than take out! Easy to follow recipe. The tips in the video are a great bonus. Your channel is now my first stop for Indian cooking.
I just found your channel. You are an absolute joy to watch. I'm so glad you mentioned tinned tomatos. They are awful over here fresh (Aussie tomatos are flavourless) I love that you talk about the layering of Indian cooking. I wouldn't have thought to add mint... will add that to my next dish
I just made this for dinner tonight and it was amazing! Thank you so much for sharing such a delicious and satisfying meal. I added potatoes and subbed the leafy greens with cabbage because that was all I had on hand. Just realized I completely forgot to add the sugar, but I'll definitely make this again!
Just made this tonight and it came out awesome. It looks kind of complicated but it really isn't and it took me maybe 45 minutes. I've never had this many ingredients in anything I've cooked before and the flavor is fantastic. I especially like how the mint adds to it all. Thanks very, very much!
I discovered that there's a wonderful indian grocery store like a 1 mile away from me and I am so excited to cook tomorrow because I got so many amazing ingredients that I can never find at my regular western chain grocery stores. I love chickpea curry and I can't wait to make it the right way tomorrow! 😁
I just made this for meal prep for the week. I did change the recipe just a little bit because I had eggplant to use so I cooked it like you did in another video (in the pan cause I didn’t want to destroy my stove top 😂) I added it instead of the greens and I couldn’t find curry leaves and it is absolutely delicious! Thank you so much 🙌🏻
With Amazon expanding its spice selection (and freshness!) your dishes are even more doable. And a belated congrats on 1 million subscribers. (I feel like RUclips hasn't been doing its job pushing me your content.)
I made this for my partner and she thought it was the best home cooked curry she had had. I love this recipe its really tasty and filling and its not complicated to make.
I made this a couple weeks ago, forgot to leave a comment, but it was really amazing. There were a few ingredients I didn't have, like curry leaves, but it still turned out great! I will definitely make this again.
Hi Dear! I prepared it today. Here in Bulgaria we don't have all the ingredients or at least they are hard to find like curry leaves. Except for the leaves, I followed your recipe as much as possible My husband and I we love Indian cuisine. Your dish is magica,.I can't stop eating it😋
This meal is simply fantastic! I could eat it every day. I usually mix various vegetables that I have in the fridge. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!
I usually add chickpeas in my curry lentils but TODAY I made your Lentil Soup from the other day!! My husband, our 9y son and 2 yr daughter and I all Loved it and I really like the changes it made to my usual lentils! Thank you! I Must cook more with you!! Blessings!~
Wow! I was skeptical about this. Tahini? Mint? But I trusted you and followed your recipe faithfully. I’m not even vegetarian but I’m in love ❤- with this curry. I will eat this every day. I’m still eating 🤤

I am jealous of the way your kitchen is smelling while you cook that! It looks SO good. So good. I am making this this week.
It really does leave the most amazing aroma in the house!
08:32 - tomatoes
This is the exact recipe I have been looking for, thank you so much!!! Also, my house never smells as good as when I make a curry.
I’m excited for you to try it out, Kelley! Love a good curry aroma wafting throughout the house.
Made this with my girlfriend last weekend, we've made lots of curry recipes but this one is by far the best ! Thank you !
I made this a few days ago and it was so delicious. Thanks for sharing!
Babe, you're so close to a milli!!!! 🤩🤩🤩 i remember joining the crew at a few thousand. Congrats on all your efforts!
🥰 so nice to have you here for so long!!
Omg I am SO trying this... It looks like a restaurant quality! Thank you so much, Nisha! 🙏
Happy you’re excited for this, Jackie!
i did some willful and some less willful replacements and a small processing error and this dish is already tasting absolutely fantastic. to be frank, i have never cooked with whole seed spices before and i am going to buy all the whole seed spices now ;). if i cook this 2-3 more times, its probably gonna be one of the tastiest things i have eaten.
I love your videos! They make my Saturday 😍
Me too, me too!
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe! I made it for the first time today. Following the steps and omg it is the BEST chickpea I’ve ever had! Never been a big fan of chickpeas before but I think I fall in love with this chickpea curry today❤
Love the Indian recipes Nisha keep them coming!
Made this tonight! Added broccoli & some bell peppers instead of kale. It was soooo good! ❤❤❤
I need to buy your cook book! This is my 4th? recipe I've made by you & each one is a WINNER! Taking some to my coworker tomorrow
You are an amazing cook for such a young age. I love Indian masala sauce and curry so much. Love your receipes.
Thank you for this! Guess what I'm making for dinner tonight! LOL I love these one-pot recipes! Thank you! 💜💜💜
So excited for you 🥳I hope you will love it!
I don’t know I cannot laugh so hard when you said “y’all stupid”🤣😂🤣😂
All facts 😂
Hi, this is the first time I am watching your channel and any video of you. I am from India and live in India, your take on white chole is very unique and I love it. I'll try making it your way next time.
I just made it and it's incredible!! It tastes like from a real Indian restaurant. Thank you very much!
I made this again this evening (4+ times). It’s delicious! I only had 1 can of garbanzos so I added 1 sweet potato. Delicious! We only need 1 Serrano pepper for our liking. Served over jasmine rice and with a beer- it’s a great meal. Don’t leave out the mint or the cilantro- they are a must
Genuinely a really yummy dish, definitely going to be a staple for us from now on. highly highly recommend
This is the BEST curry I have ever had! I ate it twice today!
This lady couldn't be more awesome... Will be watching more of this channel..
This is my favourite international dish, always a crowd pleaser and amazing for when I need comfort ❤thank you
Just made this tonight and it came out awesome.
Your dish is magica,.I can't stop eating it😋
So honored you made the effort even though it was challenging to find the ingredients. And even more pleased to hear you loved it!
We made this recipe two times and both times it turned out delicious. Thank you so much Nisha for sharing. Yum . We are definitely following you 😊
This meal is simply fantastic!
Blessings!~
I have just planted a curry plant..for the very purpose of having fresh leaves for cooking!! Can't wait to try this...looks yummy!!!!
Amazing! My parents have one too. I need to get started on mine!
This recipe is amazing!! You make cooking so accessible, layered and delicious!! Thanks you!! You are a great teacher!
I always wanted to be a teacher of some sort so this means a alot to me 🥰
Wow! I was skeptical about this. Tahini? Mint? But I trusted you and followed your recipe faithfully. I’m not even vegetarian but I’m in love ❤- with this curry. I will eat this every day.
I’m still eating 🤤
