Good Lord!! Everything you need to know about blues guitar!! Just a monster talent!! I heard his name for many years before I started checking him out, what a loss of time. I honestly believe he's the best Living blues guitarist playing today. Enough said.
I don't believe music is a contest, but I share your feeling about DB2's talent and sense of the blues.....hey, ya' don't just join Clapton on the blues if you're not one of the greats, right ?

His father was the drummer for SRV. Being a badass musician was his fate.
Rocco Macri and robin trower. As SRV is a mix of Albert king and Hendrix Doyle is a mix of trower and Hendrix.

@@SuperCrazylegs26 He channels like Hendrix, I see his main influence as Albert King!! I love that people interpret music differently... That is what makes is so amazing... Doyle is the most patient lead guitar player I have ever seen live... He will find a simple phrase and repeat it several times until the inspiration comes and it does... Then he just plays what he really feels.... this music is authentic ... He transcends them all momentarily and it is an honor to watch it... To be at it live is another experience all together....

Joined SRV and DT in 78 and stayed on til the end... I think Doyle Sr may have been the drummer on Family Style though but not positive.

Yep LOVE Doyle's tone yep it's very Robin Trower here ~ he is such a diverse player, artist, singer and musician. He's someone I am Always excited to see what he does next.

Am a Doyle ll fan since early 80s. Jelly Cream blind-sided me with good music from him back when. Been watching him playing w/ Clapton, Trucks, Jimmy Vaughn, John Mayer...love all the good juju coming from him...from a thorn comes a rose. Play on.

I was lucky enough to see Doyle at Antones’s in Austin, and another time in Ardmore PA. Incredible.

Bass player is standing tall on this track, something about a good bass player, I think it lets me as a guitar player to play with both the groove and the melody, it all just gets easier. Words fail me, you players out there know what I tryin to say... . . .

Well you would almost have to have lived under a rock to have never heard one Arc Angels tunes. I dont know about the states but they got huge ariplay up here in Canada. So you quite likely have heard one and just never knew about them, it happens...lol.
The Arc Angels is Doyle Bramhall, Charlie Sexton, Cris Layton and Tommy Shannon, Cris and Tommy were SRV 'band', for the better part of his career. Doyle plays a right hand guitar left handed no restringing, his strings run high to low, its crazy but he makes it work well. Not really as uncommon as it seems, left handed guitars were so rare kids just play em the way they are and you end up with a player like Doyle, unique and down home at the same time.

It took me over 20 years to find out what his name is. I am a big fan of Doyle, his band mates are always rock solid.
Smokestack with the album Welcome was much more successful that his first album, he has become more well known since Green Light Girl got a lot of radio play... Richie Kotzen is a great guitarist also, he flies under some peoples radar too...

I can hear that. Jimmy Thackery dos a great cover of WHO KNOWS, and you know how that saying goes in full, "who knows may not say. Who says may not know." The exception to the rule, my kind of wild, thanking you, must be a wild one too!
you should check Hendrix cover on Catfish Blues, almost the same riff as here
This guy is by far my favorite guitarist of this generation. The reason he's so good is because he keeps it simple and sticks with what he knows.

Sounds like a nice rendition of Band of Gypsies - Hendrix & Buddy Miles - a combination of 70% Who Knows (tempo, Wah and multiple riffs) and 20% of Machine Gun. Doyle even does Hendrix's dismissive throwaway lines in the master's voice at 10:44. The only thing missing is Hendrix's brillo.
db 2 is the man, wish i had 1/1000th of that talent. tone comes from the soul and enhanced by equipment.
