      I really like order but believe that this method is ocd. I’ve listened to dr Ramani on her opinion of this method, I concur, speaking to inanimate objects and expecting material objects to bring you joy is exactly the same emotion out of control in hoarders. Our joy comes from good memories and a state of emotional happiness. My opinion.

      Now, I am . My room has never been better. I’ve got lots of good complements when I have visitors coming in . Before I never let anyone came to my room because of the mess I made. For anyone who wants to try this method, please read her book. Thank you so much Marie Kondo if u read this! U have changed my life!

    A famous psychologist labeled Kondo's Tidyness as "Perfectionism". However, I see a totally relaxed person and much less stressed than less organized people. After all she isn't obsessed, it's a way of life. I managed to excel it to some degree and already I was called a perfectionist. Grrr.

    Her method is unique. You are not doing room by room but rather category by category. Example clothes. So every stitch of clothing including jackets winter jackets summer clothes rain boots anything that you wear on your body including scarves hats whatever else falls into that category. Make one big pile and start sorting. It's very exhausting but it works.

    She’s NOT A MINIMALIST! Not a single concept in her book is about minimalism! ONLY keeping items that “spark joy”. If it doesn’t spark joy to throw anything out then don’t. That’s not minimalism.

    • @Alicenguyen1096
      @Alicenguyen1096 5 лет назад +45

      that sounds minimalism for me. Minimalism is not a strict concept when people only have only a few things in their home/lives but only the things that they really need, and in Marie's term - "spark joy". While minimalism is quite a new concept people use on social media now, "tidiness" exists for a long time ago

    • @RainyDayWolf

      Minimalists have different guidelines for the stuff they keep, like "only stuff that is either beautiful or useful" or "only what spark joy"... Some extreme ones have an specific amount of stuff or what fits in a backpack. But the point is to find what is essential to you as a person, it's a journey you have to take and each book has its own approach to figure that out... The outcome is unique as everyone is unique.

    I’ve learned to fold undies and fold then roll sports bras. It saves space and looks tidier. But dang doesn’t it take much longer to fold all those scraps of fabric, lol. Maybe an extra hour every other week to fold underthings? Calming though, worth it-for now.

    A room of 13mx13m? That's 169 square meters! That's a big house!
    I think you guys are getting you're numbers mixed up... Even 169 square foot is big for a room...

    Marie Kondo is a very smart businesswoman because she has sold the ideal of staying clean and organized by not having to many things to organize. Marie Kondo Image is the whole selling package she's short, thin, soft spoken and her clothes and home are the same light airy colors. And can I say boring because who doesn't love a little black dress or a dark piece of furniture come on even the kids 2 toys and the 1 book was the colored of cream. (lol) and I don't even want to talk about her office where her work station was on top of her thighs or should I say her lap that was at the end of her sofa couch with no armrest. And I can't forget her 1 tiny flower plant that was put on a desk that she doesn't even own. So having office supplies like a printer, pens and paper doesn't exist in her business world. Then I guess we are to believe that Marie Kondo isn't attached to anything or have any Interest or hobbies in anything like cooking, crafting, gardening or painting etc. But why would she if she only have 1 picture of each child that she and not her husband loves printed because it's all about Marie Kondo fake world that isn't full of love, laughter and life.

    Yeah, no house shown. And BTW, if I kept only those things that gave me joy, I wouldn't have anything except my cat.AND I'd be walking around naked.

    A room 13m x 13m, that's the size of a house. Maybe it's in feet.
