I like that Marie Kondo always answers interview questions very politely with so much respect even though the interviewer does not understand Japanese.
Yeah, I felt Ellen and Jimmy were disrespectful of her and her methods. They had no desire to learn, it was stunt for them, and they took joy in ridiculing that it all went back to same as before.
She is such a wonderful human with a kind heart and a beautiful energy. Her interpreter / translator did an amazing job. Thanks and best wishes to them!
Ok, so this interview brought me so much JOY!!!! Marie was treated with respect, and appreciation of her really good method. I watched the Ellen's interview and that brought me negative feelings and I was so disappointed at how they treated her and laughed at her method. However, this interview was amazing and gave me back my JOY!!! Now I'm full of positive energy.
Hi there!! I appreciate you saying that, as my native tongue is Japanese...even though I hardly speak it in the States!(^^). I still do think it's a beautiful language & MARIE also has a pretty, delicate voice that enhances the beauty of the language!(^^)(^^). Her Japanese is proper & elegant!(^^) On the other hand, I often get disappointed hearing many young Japanese kids, including the girls speaking with so much slangs & made up words or sounding like a drunken truck driver that sounds plain awful! Sometimes it doesn't sound like Japanese anymore... If I ever spoke like them, mom would have fit while pinching my cheek!(^^). Luckily I never spoke like that!(^^)
So many of the interviewers are grossly patronizing when they make a comment on how "tiny" or "cute" she is. . . . this is a full grown woman with two children, a husband, and a self-built tidying empire - show her the same respect you'd show any other wildly successful entrepreneur and subject matter expert.
The only thing I wasn’t too keen on was her and everything being called “so cute.” Maybe cause I’ve had to deal with that my whole life and it just makes you not feel on the same level as everyone else. But honestly, this is probably one of my favorite interviews with her on a talk show because the woman actually took the Q&A and demonstrations pretty seriously, unlike many others. She was very impressed with her method and was excited to do it, which I was thankful for. Though, the people in the studio were kind of laughing, she was still pretty into the session. Also, I loved how when Ida started translating/interpreting, she said, “I love this.” I think she truly did love hearing the responses from Marie and Ida, and I really appreciate that. It’s, also, beneficial that they took time to do this and not just 5-minutes, because many things get overlooked and rushed when that happens. So, I am very thankful that this one was a pretty good interview for these talk shows.
That's a great interview! Thank you for respecting her and her method (Also I like how she said thank you to interpreter at the end, that was really nice)
Wow, my step-bro introduced me to her Netflix show (lonf story short, we had a very weird conversation that ended up him telling me about it) about a month ago, and I'm already seeing her on the news! I love her :3
why does the interviewer keep calling her "cute" and "itty bitty" ??!?!!!! she's a 34 year old woman, i'm sure if Marie Kondo was an English speaking white woman she wouldn't be spoken about like an 8 year old...
Carmen Penelope its just the way Japanese people are. They age really slow and guys in their 30s, some look like college kids. I dont think she will take offence.
Carmen Penelope because she is cute. She is also tiny. I’d imagine it’s not meant to be insulting. But I guess if someone is looking for reasons to feel offended, they could be offended, regardless of race or ethnicity. I’ve been called “cute” and “tiny” and I was not offended. I took it as a complement and expression of endearment.
tidying up is very normal to Japanese. They even have this 5S method which they learn early in school👌 U shld see their taxis, super neat even with all those printed ads and laminated infomercials. ...taxi drivers normally have coin trays , a otebook and a pen 😁
Interesting methods. I'm surprised she doesn't the other method of folding a fitted sheet. It incorporates her method of squaring things up & aligning the corners.
I see people getting upset that she's being called cute and "treated like a child", but you have to know that most likely it's not considered offensive to Marie. Being cute and childlike (Kawaii) is something many Japanese women aspire to, no matter age. It's a cultural thing.
It's actually not. I love in Japan and work amongst teachers in their 30s and 40s, they call eachother "kawaii" all the time. I've even tried calling someone utsukushii(beautiful) before and they told me that's strange, Japanese women prefer cute as a compliment. It's a cultural difference.
Honestly, this is all common sense. Not hating or anything. But I find it funny how Americans eat everything up like it's some new phenomenon. LOL. I'm sorry.
