Very important message in Indian context. Women are made to feel guilty if they can't keep home squicky clean! Some women take this on themselves too without realising they are neglecting personal health and growth as a side effect.

I love that she’s not rigid with her principles, has accepted and openly acknowledged the change. I think this attribute makes us more human and also makes life much easier.
Also, what's important is doing what feels right to you (not at the expense of someone else, obviously) Everyone has their own philosophy, the right to propagate it, as an audience you can keep what makes sense to you and unabashedly let go of what doesn't.

I admire her so much for being honest. She isn't hiding the reality of her life, and in doing so, she's helping others to let go of unrealistically high standards. When you have a family, experiencing that family and having fun and love and joy is much more important than how clean and tidy the house is. Children grow up so quickly, and if you are constantly focused on cleaning and organizing, you can miss out on so much.

When my sons were little, my young cousin visiting me commented that the instant someone steps into my home can tell that there're kids in the home. It was messy. I said I take it as a compliment while the aunts would think am lazy and unorganised. With two kids in less than two years tidiness took a back seat

This may not have been the typical Palki revelation, but it is certainly relevant! My generation especially was raised by militant mothers who HAD to have things just so. Discipline and order, timely meals, clean home and kids superseded personal satisfaction and happiness always. By a mile.
As I have grown older, I realise they were so wrong. And Kondo is right on the button. Kids do not care if the house is messy - but they DO get deeply affected when their mother is tired, irritable and inattentive. More power to you Marie, that was really brave. And much needed.

There has to be a balance. It's one thing if somebody is going crazy because there is one teddybear on the floor and a few crumbs on the table but most people like living in a clean , tidy home. If you went to a hotel on vacation and you saw the toilet was dirty, the bed wasn't made and the sheets weren't clean, and there was thick layers of dust all over the furniture and the food was served on grubby plates, would you feel happy? Would you feel relaxed? Would you be in a good mood? Probably not.

Even though a Messi house is not the right message, having a happy family should be the main priority over a messy house, which is what the Queen of clean has embraced against her own preaching and admits it transparently and honestly. While this video acknowledges that aspect, Wion uses that as a weapon against her…

She just said that she's not as organised as she used to be and prioritises her time with her family over a squeaky clean house. What's spark joy for her now are her children and their well-being and its understandable. She has never been a cleaning tyrant to anyone, she's always been super gentle and kind, and she acts this way towards herself too. I love to see that. ❤️

I'm guessing Marie Kondo's idea of a messy house is still pretty tidy. Yes, it's a good idea not to get stressed out because there are a few toys on the floor or a few fingerprint marks on the window but most people don't find it peaceful to live in a very messy house. It makes it hard to find things. It just makes life difficult.

I never did the thing where you take all your clothes or books in a pile and see if each one sparks joy, so I can't say I followed her method, but her books did teach me 3 things: realistically, if you own something and intend to get around to reading it wearing it, you won't. So throw it out. I also now fold my clothes vertically so I can see everything. And if something doesn't make you happy, just throw it out because realistically, you're never going to wear/use it (unless it's something boring that you need. I'm talking about clothes that I buy for the person I want to be, but that I'm not).

As a fan of Palki, I'm disappointed here. The way she let it all slip and not mention even once how influencer+media combo plays with people vulnerability on the both "ends". First this celebrity became a guru of tidying up and she is becoming a guru on "letting go". While we might not not no if this time also she is trying to play with people instead to being truthful.
Instagram or othe app, they both are the sides of same coin. Keep people hooked. Take their time away. And once time is gone, what else is left.
    Why did Palki missed it?

    Good choice of topic.
It's always good...to see hear watch experience soak in the unveiling of reality...
rather than always 'making (up) news'
