Nice review! I went from ducati multi 950 to this (due to accident) and is a better bike. maybe it does not have the brakes of the ducati but motor and handling in road is a lot better, performance better, engine sound better, drive in big traffic better without the ducati heat problem from the engine. On the other hand wind protection, button ergonomics and offroad capabilities are better in ducati.
Hi, thanks I appreciate and glad you liked the review 👍 Hope you are ok after an accident? That is interesting to hear from an owner of both bikes, I have ridden the Multi 950 and agree with every point you mentioned. I think you have made a good decision! Cheers and enjoy your Tracer.
Most of your good and bad points are the same as other reviewers, so this seems legit. The one exception is vibration. I'd just like to add that what feels vibey to one rider isn't felt all that much by the next. This is the first time I've heard a reviewer say that vibes are a serious issue on the 9GT. I've test rode a Tracer 900 and extensively rode an XSR900. Both felt very smooth throughout the rev range; among the smoothest engines I've experienced. I've owned quite a few engine types, and some of the inline fours would put my arms to sleep. My Super Tenere's parallel twin produced vibes that I felt were the strongest, until I changed the exhaust. Anyway, the sensation of vibes from different bikes seems like it varies widely among individuals. Also, one person might experience vibes at higher or lower frequencies than another. I reckon that has much to do with body composition/physical makeup.
Hi Ernie, yes you are exactly right in that different people experience different vibes etc... I have ridden some bikes that I have felt no vibes and other say it is terrible! I suppose the vibes are not that bad, I think it is getting used to the bike, but I definitely do feel some quick vibes especially at higher speeds. I often put it down to just getting used to a bikes characteristics, once you know the bike you learn to accept its different qualities (unless it is very bad!) I thin kyou are right about different physical make up etc... Cheers
Hi Simon, thanks so much, really pleased you liked the review 👍 I ended up really enjoying the bike after some time. Thanks and the same to you as well. All the best.
You answered the question on high speed buzzing. Good review! I agree at 63, the vibration would get to me. As would be expected, my 400 cc dual sport buzzes hard at 55 plus; don't want that in my touring bike. Thanks again!
I’m thinking about this bike. I’m 6’4” and was looking at an fjr when a saw a used 2019 tracer. Moving from the fjr to the tracer I was blown away by the leg room. More than my GS. As much as I want another brand/model I now feel I have to give my body the tracer.
I would say if you find it comfortable then that is a big plus point 👍 It took me a few days to get used to the bike, but I now really like it! Great package.
I’ve put 13,000 km on my new tracer 9gt. I love it. As he said it has a great engine, shifter, brakes, suspension and handles awesome - thats 99.9% of a bike; no?. That said I bought a Corbin seat cause the tracer seat is hard and does lean you towards the tank. It sucks. And the Yamaha touring windshield is next, cause the stock one is crap if your 6’ or taller. In short - It’s a truly great bike ! And comes with luggage.
I had the 2015 model. Great Engine! Seat was horrible! I finally found a custom seat builder who took the stock seat plate and built a acceptable seat. I ultimately went with the biggest windshield I could find as wind buffeting was bad. I put over 33,000 miles on it and it was a blast! I miss it despite its pitfalls.
The engine really is fantastic and continues to be so 👌 For sure it does have its downfalls, but don't all bikes! I am very much looking forward to riding the new Tracer 9GT+
I’ve got the 900 GT previous model and its seat, screen and vibes on the negatives but still a great bike and super easy to ride in traffic or at speed
I test rode this at demo days. The front rake is very upright and the wheelbase is short and it's not as stable as bigger bikes. It's quickshifter is the smoothest I've ever felt. I'm 6-0 200lbs and the leg room was a little tight.
