Thank you for the transparent review and not sugar coating the new model and making it seem like a redesign that fixed all the problems. That happens a lot on other's reviews.
Watching Neevsys videos has saved my sanity here in lockdown in Melbourne, Australia. The absolute best, hope he gets paid well!. Woudnt buy a new bike without listening to his opinion which i reckon is the ultimate compliment.
That's very kind Andrew, thank you
Im in the current melb lockdown too. Love me some neevsys, lockdown or no lockdown.... Stay sane Pricy.
I totally agree with Andrews response same issues here with 10 day lockdown in Thailand such a genuine report I know now what I am looking at thanks again
Ditto
Well done Neevesy for saying it for how it is!
Terrific review -- very much appreciate the honest comments on noise and comfort! Thank you
I’m so glad you mention the screen - it’s an oft-overlooked aspect of a bike but, as you have stated, can make or break your riding experience.
I agree, MCN have really got there act together with these bike reviews, and they had to because the competion out there is fierce. Neevsey adds a real world element to every review which is refreshing.
Can’t get past the split screen. Great review!
Great honest review, thank you.
As always, great, great, review! Well spoken without fluff
What an awesome review...honest and to the point.. I always enjoy your opinion.. I had the old tracer gt and the wind noise was a major downer for me. The front end had no feedback when cornering. Thankyou.. ill stick with my FJR
Line your review! Keep up the good work!
Funny - I found the screens clear and easy to understand, and pretty intuitive to use.
Regarding the ergonomics, I have to agree about the screen - it's not that great.
However - the general seating posistion, the relationship between the seat, the bars and pegs suited my size perfectly. I'm 182 cm and 90 kilos.
Great honest review, thanks.
Really great that you take noise and hearing seriously. Tinnitus is no fun. Thanks for mentioning the wind noise so honestly. Best bike reviewer in the world.
Wow! That was real criticism. Great review, really honest.
Another great review from Michael Neeves 👍🔝👌
Good honest review, thanks. I'm not into adventure style bikes...had a couple of Multistradas and tried them with a range of screens, and found the Pikes Peak screen to be the best (more wind, but cleaner air). I much prefer a more sporting position - my Supersport S was far comfier than the Multis for touring. But I digress...this 9GT looks good, and I like your longer review videos.
Always very good reviews with a real education👏👏👏💯
This review is still the most honest one I've found. I'm set to take delivery of my 2021 9 GT any day now (Pending recall service) and this video was a great addition to my decision making. Thanks for your comments, and stay safe out there!
Another excellent review
Brilliant Neevesy as usual love your vids
Thanks for the review I did an Iron Butt on a 2019 Tracer 900. Full t rex bars and skid plate,, Kaoko throttle lock. Did very well. I'm no spring chicken anymore and the bike did the job in style. I always wear ear plugs on any bike so the wind noise was not that big an issue. I would recommend the bike for any serious tourer.
Great vid , always amazed me when manufactures list fuel range, I have a 2019 gt and use it mostly back and fore my house in south wales to my partners house in Portsmouth (158 miles) a full tank gets me 3/4 of the way there, I'm also just over 6ft and your right, the noise is pretty intense, in comparison to the 2017 tracer 7, it's louder and I've gone from being able to ride 3 hours non stop to around 1hr45, before the numbness and wind blast forces a Greg's coffee and walk around 😀.
California Scientific windscreens made a huge difference on mine. The plastic is much thicker so in doesn't wobble as much. It makes the wind noise much less. And get the ECU flashed by Ivan's Performance.
Jarrod, question for you…I test rode the 2022 Tracer 9 GT…I felt it skiddish when pushing it in the corners…do you feel that? A bit unsettling when hammering it out of the corners.
@@ApriliaRacer14 No, my bike is very planted. I would think you might need a suspension adjustment. The 2022 has electronic adaptive suspension. Mine is manual adjustment. Tires make a huge difference. The stock tires sucked. I've run several different tires, but absolutely love the Bridgestone S22 tires. I bet it's the tires.
Thank you Neevesy and MCN for this very candid, forthright review. This is a bike I’ve been thinking about since I’d heard it was to be updated and revised.
This review is not that honest and candid. I think Neevesy is quite a likeable-y intelligent man, surely he noticed and was disgusted with that one headlight look - but then why did he not mention it?
Lights are very subjective in appearance. You have to look at the overall styling and judge it as a cohesive thing. To do that well, you have to see the proportions in-person with the naked eye and at many different angles.
Honest review and spot on.👍🏻
I love honest reviews. If it's pure praise, or criticism it makes me wonder about the reviewer's bias. This has a lot of pro's and con's, and it includes changes from the previous generation. Thanks.
Perfect review! Though I am still lost whether I should by standard or GT version. What would be your advice if use bike for weekends short- mid tours and city commuting? Thanks in advance! Simas
Great review good to hear good points and not so good points
You described the older version perfectly (I have one), it's amazing how much quieter it is when I stand up away from the screen going down the highway. I trust what you say about the new one. Shame about that silly dash, but I wonder if there could be a solution for the windscreen.🤔
Here is something I wonder about. IF all that noise is the result of a nearly verticle screen? Then why oh why would manufacturers not simply move the base of screen far forward allowing room to angle the top of the screen at a far mor sloped angle? I realize this would dramatically change the entire appearance making a bike look radically different than anything else on the market but hey what works IS what is beautiful to many of us
Now that's a review! Thanks Neevesy
Loved the twin dash look
Great review. Am really waiting for you to review the new XSR900 - any clues on when you’ll get your mitts on one? Cheers
Great to get what seems to be an honest balanced review. Thanks!
Good review Neevsys at least you speak the truth honda man myself watch all your reviews they are always good.
Very good review. How would you rate it with comparison to Africa twin?
Looks like you were crouched on it and that it was a bit small on you....
Why is the cornering light at the front on the right always on and the left light is always off ? Never really seen one of these up close in person. Just wondering !
Why is only the right running light on instead of both? Is that a UK requirement? Thanks for the review.
As a previous owner of the "old" 900 GT, I agree with the wind screen being the biggest reason why not to buy. You need a test drive at least!
The MRA windscreen with deflector worked for me, but it's not perfect.
“ Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. “ From “ The Gentleman” ? 🐖 🐷 Great review. Best!
Now THATS i call a review.Congrats.
Very good review thank you. AirHawk R seat cushions are excellent and make all the difference for longer distance riding.
When Neevesy speaks, the cycle world listens.
Very Nice vídeo man. Do you know when this bike come to Brazil?
Have never seen that “face” before, and now i really cannot unsee it. Dammit.
Looks like Wall-E
Ever been scuba diving ?
I really like how you mind the windscreen noise! Its often overlooked and riders damage their hearing. The Z1000SX is out of reach for its really flat mounted screen. The Yamaha GT now could rather be compared to the new Honda NT 1100. Have you ridden it and how is the screen? THX!
Good honest review. What’s with only a single spotlight working on the right? Is that some kind of weird driving lights thing, or just a bulb out?
With the GT you’re also in the ballpark of a Tiger 900 GT Pro - that would seem a better comparison than the Ninja 1000.
I always love your gear. Would you be so kind and provide details for what you’re wearing when you’re out for the ride?
“Once you see it, you can’t unsee it”
Thanks for that, I went from modern fighter jet, to awkward undercover cartoon character 🤣🤣
Very good review. Thanks for doing the work and telling what it FEELS like to ride the bike and just spit out figures i can find myself on their website.
Perhaps by fitting a really short, stubby screen it would improve things. A mate of mine did that to his KTM SA and loves it now.
Have thought about changing to this bike, but comments on seating position; screen and overall comfort is why I'll stick with my Pan European. 100kgs heavier, but wonderful to ride on long trips, especially with a full fairing and a 29 litre tank.
Two things I did to my 2022 T9GT is a Vcyclenut ECM flash and changing the front sprocket from the stock 16 T to a 15 T sprocket. This 6% change in final ratio made it a whole different bike in terms of sprightliness and rpms are only raised by 350 rpm from this change. No difference in mpg is noticeable and the bike tops out in 6th gear now instead of 5th. Also starting fully loaded in 1st is much better with this change. The windshield is crap. But MRA's vario touring screen completely transforms the bike and eliminates that issue.
Thanks again.
I have a Tracer 9 and thought the split screen would bother me. After the first ride I don’t think about it anymore. The buttons and menu system is super simple after one walk through learning it.
so you recommend it? are you tall? windscreennoise isnt a problem?
@@hhyling8483 Yes I recommend it. There is small amount of buffeting with the standard windscreen. I will test and see which windscreen I prefer. The touring windscreen which is a little bit bigger is one option. I’m 5”9
@@icucode Please let us know what you think of the touring screen in a comment once you have had a chance to test it. I am getting a Tracer soon and interested in getting possibly that touring screen. Cheers
You can really compare a street (ZX) with a motard (T9), aerodynamics wise. Great review. You put me in a lot of thoughts, especially regarding prior 2021 models.
Damn you are good dude. Thank you.
Glad the F900XR was mentioned as that idea popped up. What about versus a Tiger 900 GT? Actual offroad pretensions - but really the road version to most.
Have they finally moved the foot rests forward to achieve a touring riding position?
I was up for one of these, but the wind noise and comfort has turned me off, many thanks.
Had the SX, now got the new Tracer. I like both bikes for different reasons, SX looks, Tracer practicality and that engine. 😀 Saying that, I'll probably go back to a Kwak in a few years when the PCP is up.
LOL handle-bar moustache - I can never unsee this!! 😆😁😂
Great review Neevesy. I have a 900 and as a taller bloke have found a few flaws in it. The pillion peg position is atrocious (waaaay too close to the rider's pegs). The screen is noisy (I have put the smallest one I can find on it and just live with the wind). And the total weight capacity was bizarrely low. Seems like the new one adds some more fruit but hasn't really fixed the fundamentals.
Hi, thanks for review, you said that for tall persons is more apropriate a z1000sx. I am 1,87m and 82 kilos, do you think is better for me kawasaki ninja 1000sx? Best regards!
This was a great review. I especially liked how you talked about your height and how the bike worked for you. I'm an inch or two taller, so that's important to know. The main bike I want to own next is the 1000SX, so that comparison was super useful. Thanks again.
I'm 6'2 and i've ridden the SX (now Ninja 1000) great bike BUT the foot pegs are high (more acute angle) which I couldn't live with. I now own a Tracer 900 GT which fits me better
1000SX definitely has less leg room for taller people, say 33"+ inseam length. Also feels top heavy compared to many 750-950 naked style bikes.
Can we get a Neevesy leaderboard where he ranks all the bikes he's tested recently? Maybe one board for track and one board for street.
Very happy that you pointed out the dash 👀 and switch gear. WTF was Yamaha thinking? Well, animation! Time to change it.
Thanks man
I love Neevesy. The motorcycling community does to and someone know this. I'm on my 5th commercial and i'm not even done watching the video.
Use an add blocker.
cool bike - more please
What is the model of the Kawasaki you recommend for taller riders? I’ve replayed that part but can’t make out what you said. My hearing isn’t the best.
Ninja 1000SX
I love my 9gt handles great scratches the footpegs with confidence.i find the screen OK I'm 5'7 it's great for me.im comfortable on it quickshifter it really good but you got to be on it for the downshift to work at its best.only downfall is the panniers could be a bit bigger I can't fit my bell star into them.i recently done 1660 miles to Scotland and back to Wales couldn't fault it really ooo and yeah the tank could be a extra litre bigger getting about 200 mile with the light on other than that the bike is awesome
Isn’t the Suzuki v storm 1050 a competitor?
I hoped about two and a half inches off my 2020 windscreen,,no more win buffeting and still nice protection plus it looks much better ,,,would love in a slight smoke
I've had my 2021 tracer 9 gt since October. I agree the seat is uncomfortable after a few hrs. As for the screen, I'm 6ft 2", changed the stock screen for the Yamaha touring one and its made a big difference for me. But everyone is different so I'd just say if ur thinking of getting one just get a test ride. It's a hell of a bike for the money. Goes like stink when you want it too. Handles, looks gd, I think!, does 50mpg ish.. only down side is stock exhaust looks rubbish and not many options at present to fix that.
hmm I thinking about Tracer 9GT vs Ninja 1000sx, so now I am not sure now :D Comparsion riding in the city between these 2? I know for longer idestances will ninja win but can ninja make same good job in the city?
Really like your realistic reviews 👏👍
New Tracer gt plus is quite a nice step up with the switchgear, the new screen, adaptive cruise control etc, obviously a further £1.8k but if you use it as a tourer it's 100% worth it, basically a multistrada v4s light for a lot less money. Wider/better screen as well, I'm 180cm and I find it very nice.
Optional Yamaha top box, I believe it was made by Givi, was available for the 2020 model. I have one. So I would assume it was available for the 2019 model as well.
I have fitted the givi v47 to my 2019 tracer gt absolutely no issues 👍🏻
04:19 I saw it! You just had to point it out didn't you? ...mustache man is looking at me now!
Hey Neevesy I got a Tracer because of your reviews
It is a beautiful, mature bike. Yes, the looks grow on you and you start to see its beauty. The sound, even with a stock exhaust, awesome.
Neemesy, the guru of motorbike appraisals!
Neevvsy, I can't stop laughing! You are spot on with the cartoon character description. I can see it even with eye's closed.
On my '15 Tracer, I swapped the screen for a much smaller one. (Puig I think). Meant the wind hit chest rather than head. Still had enough protection to ride comfortably at 90 mph, but noise problem solved.
Also swapped seat for a Bagster one, which sorted bum problems out; better firmer padding and better shape. May wait until both options avalable for Tracer 9 before pulling trigger.
What would you choose - Tracer 9 gt or Tiger 900 gt pro?
An honest and humble opinion. Thank you Neevesy. 👍😎🇦🇺
this will be my next bike!
Did you forget about the Kawasaki Versys 1000 as competition? Or maybe you don’t have that model in the UK?? Wondering how those two bikes compare.
Kawasaki does not pay them enough...lol
I want an Versys as my 2nd bike...enjoying my 1000SX quite immensely for now.
What are the odds of a tracer 10 this year? So far.. I’m looking at a XR next season.
Thanks for making me unable to unsee that face in the dash lol
Why only one of the lower LED lights stays on while riding? What about the other one?
Screen turbulence has been an issue since day one on Tracers, its inexcusable that Yamaha haven't made an effort to fix that. My old GT gave me headaches, my T7 is miles better even with its tiny blade Dakar style screen.
To be fair they did make an effort (new windscreen) they just weren’t very successful
@@northeastpsychos A new screen that looks remarkably similar to the old one? Poor effort if so.
I just got my liscence , so I have no clue, but arent there aftermarket solutions for this windscreen problem; like a smaller screen?
@@hhyling8483 There are yes. Are you OK with paying £12k+ for a bike, and then having to buy several new screens, to find one that doesn't give you a headache? I put up with it on my old '19 GT as it was a few grand less, but now it's priced closer to premium bikes.
@@hhyling8483 Yup, your right. Put on a short screen that just covers clocks, sorted. For winter or touring I use a Puig touring with deflector. The only one (I tried loads) that was quite and no buffeting.
"once you've seen it . . . you can't unsee it" LMAO
Do you suspect any jerkiness in 2nd and 3rd gear, especially in city traffic?
@Matt Elliott 👌 thanks for sharing
I had a go on the GT today - pretty much exactly the same experience. The screen alone is a deal-breaker. I'm 5' 10'' and in the lower setting, the screen is atrocious, directing air to exactly the wrong part of my helmet. In the higher setting, the screen is merely very bad indeed. Suspension great, quickshifter good, brakes adequate, engine... well, it's all relative, but coming from an MT10 it's just a little wheezy and underwhelming.
Two big reasons I wouldn't buy, uncomfortable and the noise. Good honest review. And it needs shaft drive. Yamaha gave us this in the 70s with the XS 750/1100.
so how to do you compare this with the FJR1300? Are they even comparable?
You say there is only the tracer if you want adventure type or the kawasaki if not , why did you not mention the tiger 900 As an alternative option?
How about the LED light ? high beam and low?
Lighting, too often overlooked. It's especially important for any bike that's going to do some touring.
Intelligently observing gentleman; that's what you are!
I think with today's LED technology, such companies who are too busy cost cutting, should be 100% boycotted!
