I always go for the new option. It is not a sin. Warranty, breakdown cover, peace of mind, no MoT..........All good. I don't know one end or a hammer from the other, and don't want to. I love bikes and love riding them. The up and down and pushy bits, don't enthral me. Good luck and safe riding.
I just picked up a 2023 Tiger 900 GT Pro with full lugage and only 1k miles on the clock for £11,200. I was looking at the Tracer 9 GT Plus as well but the Tiger was such a bargain I used the difference to buy some quality gear.
I own a Tracer 900GT and absolutely love it! I fitted a Delkevic exhaust (and got it tuned) so it sounds amazing, is economical, goes hard and being a Yamaha is ultra reliable!!!
Congratulations Dan, very wise choice 👏 I spent an entire day looking at new bikes, l went to 4 motorcycle stores and checked out almost everything including the new BMW 1300. My favourite bike was the GT 9 Yamaha.
Dan, think you have summed the bike up well, I also plummed a month ago for a tracer GT and love it, I did find the seat hard and angled toward the tank for me so got elite seats at sussex motorcycles to rebuild it, 120 quid reshaped and with memory foam all across it, its brilliant now, also added pyramid front and rear huggers, Jtec tail tidy, nippy norman grips which are ace and a puig screen, bike is bang on now and its a real hoot, handling, sound and power its a wonderful all round machine that's fun and engaging and plenty quick enough, I also did the dale hayes airbox mod which gives it even more induction sound with no other mods or adjustments needed, just adds less restriction on airflow and the bike loves it ! ride safe all
Great choice! I had a slightly older Tracer 900 as a courtesy bike for a month after my Vstrom was written off a few years back and it was an absolute hoot; fast, agile, good riding position, it ticked a whole lot of boxes. If I could afford bikes of that value I'd probably look at one too. Have they improved the saddle since then though, because that was my only gripe - it was a rock hard plank on the one I had, uncomfortable even on a commute, let alone a tour.
I picked up a Tracer9 GT in fall of 2022. I understand peoples reservations regarding the dash and how one might think it looks like a face looking back at them. You get used to it overtime and forget about that aspect. I find the split dash actually quite practical. I have Coolant and Ambient temp on the left and Cruise Control speed, current fuel consumption, fuel remaining and trip meter. on the right. I know as well on their first ride of the bike some disliked the rotary wheel embedded in the switchgear. Fiddly was a common term used. Whilst I agree that it can be, in practice I just select the heated grips option and toggle it so moving the wheel only every adjusts the temp setting, instead of jumping from box to box on the dash. The only other time I find myself needing to use the switch is to reset the trip meters at a fuel stop. I got the silver and black version (with the blue wheels). When I saw the new for 2023 colour schemes I thought the white and gold was the nicer of the two. You made the right choice on that front, in my opinion. Happy (and safe) riding!.
You are gonna like this bike. I habe the base model and I am very happy with it. Having the fron 17 means that the bike is just planted on the road. I already made a 12.000 km review. Those interested can check it. Got my like here. Take care. Cheers.
I bought one of these new 18 months ago. It's a good all round bike although I preferred the triple on my Triumph 765. I've toured in the UK and not having to pay extra for panniers was a big bonus for me. I've done 8.5k miles since new and the bike has coped well in all conditions. The screen is rubbish although buying a spoiler eliminated the buffeting (but it's still noisy). My main gripe is the finish - be careful riding the bike in winter. Despite using ACF50 and regular washing my bike really suffered. The dealer supported a warranty claim but Yamaha weren't interested. As a result I won't be buying another Yamaha. Also be aware that number of people have had problems that have made the bike virtually unrideable. Throtttle position sensors and throttle bodies seem to be the problem, it's been going on since the bike was introduced and is still occurring with the latest bikes. Luckily, mine doesn't seem to be affected. Enjoy and ride safe. 😊
I don't know, between this and the latest version of the 1050, I chose the 1050. I liked more the power down low, the more relaxed riding position and with the tracer I always found myself breaking the law in order to get the engine in it's happy place, otherwise it felt choked somehow, restricted. Also the fact that I changed from a v strom 650 and the controls on the 1050 are basically the same. And the V Twin sound that I like more :)
Hi Dan, I bought a new Honda CB500X in organic pearl green, just like the one you reviewed. Just done 700 miles since March and l absolutely love it. Very impressed with your Yamaha and one to consider if I was younger but being a pensioner now I can't handle the weight on my old Guzzi EV 1100 so it will have go. Keep up the great reviews👍 👍
Hi Dan, a little bit late, but congratulations. I bought the same in may and I'm so happy with it, then with no other bike I had before. So always have a good and safty ride with it.
I got mine on a Thursday in August and did an 800 mile trip that weekend. Love the bike. It was a bit different after logging 150,000 miles on two different Bandits. I did have to buy a shorter screen, as many others have noted the stock screen is just so noisy. I have no problem with the odd display, it can be handy for keeping different information up. I've added a GIVI topbox and at some point might replace the panniers with the GIVI bags from my old bike because I think the stock bags are, well...ugly. But I don't see them when I'm riding and is really what matters. I knew the + was out there but don't personally need the adaptive control or new braking system. Love this bike!
It’s interesting why you changed from the Tiger, I too experienced a lack of stability with pillion and panniers at low, traffic speeds - I just put it down to inexperience and lack of riding skills - but you’re suggesting poor suspension and design? Never thought of that, thanks.
Test rode one a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. unfortunately the insurance is a bit much for me at the moment being a younger man living in a crime ridden part of central London. However we are moving out in a year or two and either this or an s1000XR will be what i'm moving to for sure.
Test rode one today to replace my 80k mile Multistrada. I love the engine! There are lots of new 2022 models available here in the US, I should be getting a good deal on one. Bummer they don’t offer the white and gold here but silver/black/blue looks great as well.
I've had 4 bikes in less than 2 years (since passing my big boy test). This is the only bike I want to keep and have stopped looking for a replacement. Always looking for additional bikes but not to replace it lol
I bought exactly the same bike in the same colour 4 weeks ago. I'm looking forward to your future videos on the Tracer. It is a fantastic bike, a keeper. And, wow, 75K subscribers, when did that happen! Congratulations!
I love the bike is while, big fan of white bikes. But the plus is tempting with the dash and a bit less of a budget feel and the back lit switches could be nice. But white is nice and the money saved is more than all the mods I'd do on both bikes.
Interesting choice . I currently ride a 2021 Tiger 900 GT PRO and the Tracer was one of my considerations along with GS850 . The new Tracer 9GT + is a cracking bike and definitely a contender if and when I replace mine . Will look forward to your reviews on longer trips with the bike . Keep up the good work
Congrats on the new bike, I have the same bike for over a year now. I love it. The dash is not so bad and you can have it show 5 fuel gauges. 4 on the right and one on the left 😊. Looking forward to more vids from you.
I own a 2019 Tracer900GT which is a great bike too! Just needs a comfy seat as the stock seat like a block of concrete! The induction sound is really addictive though! Enjoy and ride safe 👍
Cheers! I’ve been looking at one of these to get me back in the motorcycle / YoutTube world. Use to ride a Kawasaki 650. Found a red 2022 9 GT for 10,890. Looks like the dealership is making way for the 2023 models so it’s enticing.
Came back to say. Made the purchase. Picking it up tomorrow. Very happy with my purchase and the savings I got. There was a 2024 model there as well but it was full asking price. The new dash looked nice though. Cheers!
I was undecided, this or the Transalp. Both very good contenders. Went to the Transalp. More civilized, but above all , dealership close to me. Both are very good road bikes.
Great choice Dan , I own a Tracer 9 GT and absolutely love it, I bought it after touring in Wales on my MT09 which I loved, but just needed comfort but the same grin factor😃
Good choice, I ride a 2022 xsr900 which shares the same platform, same swing arm, same engine. Amazing bijes. The only niggle to me are the brakes not as good as they could be.
You just HAD to caress it when saying, " .. GT..." at the beginning. LOL! Congratulations on the new ride Dan. I've heard really good things about this bike.
Brilliant bike, had mine now in red for two years from new and it’s amazing, full of fun and bags of character! Pound for pound you get so much more than other bikes in the range. You bound to get others criticising the split screen but should they have bought one, they would find it’s absolutely fine and makes no difference. Hope you enjoy the full orchestra of the engine sound too! 👌👍💯
Congratulations on the new bike, great colour combo, never had a Yamaha due to no dealerships in my area, enjoy the new bike, look forward to the new vids
Congratulations Dan , There are some reports that both the Gt and the plus version feel unstable at high speeds etc 150 km/h. Have you noticed anything like that ? I would very much appreciate your comment. I currently own an AT AS DCT . Thanks
I can only confirm that at standard speeds it all feels fine. On the Autobahn at about 130mph the front was a little light, but I think with some suspension fettling that can get fixed.
I too traded my Tiger 850 for the Tracer 9, I agree 100% with your review. The Tiger's engine sound and power never made me giggle like the CP3 in the Tracer. I feel like I went from a pickup truck to a real motorcycle.
Good choice Dan but I went for a Multi V2S, never regretted it as I’m a bit of a twin fan and the Italian styling was so much better than the GT. Love the CP3 engine but it’s the front end to me that looks odd, anyway they are a great bike so enjoy.👍
Torn between the two now. I heard some reviewers saying Multi V2 has issues with handlebars trembling at high speeds. No idea where I will land, to be honest...
The price of new and second hand bikes have been all over the place the last few months. I only paid £13,325 for my Tiger 1200 Rally Pro with 3,250 miles on a 22 plate. I went to a triumph dealer last week and they were offering a Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer 30lt tank for £16,675 😮 down from nearly £19k and a brand new bike. Love the torque and way your bike picks up Dan, I had a tracer version before and the engine was amazing 🤩
I had a 2021 mt09, think if i would have got one of these I would still have it. The engine in these really is impressive and in this package this is a great all rounder!
Beautiful first review! I appreciate more a review from individuals that bought the bike rather from journalists that may have reasons to push one bike to another. You mention the Suzuki GT and the VSTROM among the bikes you looked at. I am interested mostly on the GT since the GX was announced and shares the same engine as the GT. Torgue wise how would you compare the tracer to the GT? Does GT feel faster? Does it have the same pull in low rpms? Also I have ridden the VSTROM and felt that it had lots of torgue in low rpm and good handling, what made you choose tracer over the VSTROM? ... thanks in advance!
Congrats on your new bike, the white and gold looks great. At the start of your video I thought that I hated that dash…then it warmed on me and by the end of your video I was rather liking it…didn’t take long😄
I don't have a Tracer 900 but I tested one and loved it. I think we have the same taste in bikes Dan. We love the Tracer 900 and the SV650. The sound of that triple is intoxicating.
Smart choice for UK! Love my MT-09 SP. I highly recommend putting on Dunlop Mutant tires. The wet grip and confidence inspiration is amazing. High-silica compound.
I prefer the Bridgestone S22 - after 8 sets, the new S23 will be fitted in spring 2024. Dry weather grip is more than excellent / confidence inspiring in the twisties or on the race track. Of course, if a rider needs to get more "mileage" out of a set of tires, there are other, more sports touring oriented tyres available.
@@DucatiDale they are killer tires man, my front has 25K kilometers on it and still going. Rear lasted about 22K kilometers. Beside the longevity the handling in the wet/cold is second to none.
Brakes: Can upgrade to steel-braided brake lines and have SBS 634RST brake pads (exact match for your 9GT to be checked) fitted - works like a treat for my 2020 MT09 SP 😃💯🏁
I went for the GT+ this year (also persuaded a friend to go for the same😂). I love to see a channel I’ve been following for reviews, and since starting to ride has picked a tracer! Will be doing my first tour next year. Looking forward to your future vids and in particular touring footage 😁.
I’m sure I wont make the most of it… Massive step up from my Honda NC750x 😅. Love it though and very approachable power imho. Plenty of fun. Enjoy yours too!
Congrats, Dan on the new bike!! WooHoo2U! I need to know ALOT more 'bout that Tracer 9 GT tho. I've always loved that Tiger 900 from the goofy exo skeleton days!! It's a gold standard for other bikes to use in the ADV world. Where you spend your hard earned dollars says much about the manufacturer, the design & comfort of the bike. The Tracer 9 GT and the new GT+ didn't raise my blood pressure (enough) to research. Well, Dan- now I need to know!
I’ve just bought a tiger 900 and plan to take my good lady as pillion who is also slight . Tell me more about the 850 with pillion issues . I had no pillion issues on my Ducati scrambler .
Hi Dan, great bike... I came off a Tiger 900 GT pro last year for a new 2023 Tracer 9GT for similar reasons to you.. the Tiger is a superb bike but I never really got on with the 19 inch front wheel as i was never confident pushing it into corners due to a feeling of vagueness (to me, and I did 12k miles on it!), I came off more sporty bikes and the Tracer gives me that sporty feeling again and I love it, The Tiger is an awesome bike but the Tracer is certainly more engaging and fun..😁
Under maintenance in the owners manual is to replace the brake lines after 4 years...I've never imagined having to replace brake lines so soon...steel braided all the way, do not expand and contract with pressure
There's a rumor Yamaha are bringing out a Tracer 10 in 2024.
I can't look at the dash without thinking 70's scuba diver ! 😂
Ah fs why did you have to say it 😂😂

Get your arse on a cycle seat, after that you will be fine😂 I’ve done some 4000 mile tours on my 900gt never had a problem with the standard seat.
No, the seat is still like a plank, the forward riding position doesn't help

Smart choice for UK! Love my MT-09 SP. I highly recommend putting on Dunlop Mutant tires. The wet grip and confidence inspiration is amazing. High-silica compound.
I prefer the Bridgestone S22 - after 8 sets, the new S23 will be fitted in spring 2024. Dry weather grip is more than excellent / confidence inspiring in the twisties or on the race track. Of course, if a rider needs to get more "mileage" out of a set of tires, there are other, more sports touring oriented tyres available.
Michelin road 6 is a very good option as well

Smart choice - especially when you are often cruising in wet / damp weather as well.
Thanks for the tips!
@@DucatiDale they are killer tires man, my front has 25K kilometers on it and still going. Rear lasted about 22K kilometers. Beside the longevity the handling in the wet/cold is second to none.
Congrats on the new wheels! It’s a good looking ride!
I'm seriously thinking about the XSR 900 .
Brakes: Can upgrade to steel-braided brake lines and have SBS 634RST brake pads (exact match for your 9GT to be checked) fitted - works like a treat for my 2020 MT09 SP 😃💯🏁
Thanks for the tips!

With pleasure - have great 2024 season 😎☀️✌️
Lovely bike. Good luck with it. I think you made a great decision! It has everything I would ever want! .........Sal : )
I went for the GT+ this year (also persuaded a friend to go for the same😂). I love to see a channel I’ve been following for reviews, and since starting to ride has picked a tracer! Will be doing my first tour next year. Looking forward to your future vids and in particular touring footage 😁.
Good choice Dan! Enjoy the plus!
I’m sure I wont make the most of it… Massive step up from my Honda NC750x 😅. Love it though and very approachable power imho. Plenty of fun. Enjoy yours too!
It sure looks good and sounds even better! I hope it will give you loads of fun.
Looks and sounds great! I like the dash 👍
Nice looking bike Dan. Enjoy it and ride safe.
Nice bike Dan I look forward to see more videos of your new bike. Myself I’m getting a new triumph, Tiger 850 sport in March next year.
Crackin choice, very good looking & sounding bike. 👍😀👍
Great choice like to see more videos on your Yamaha tracer 9
They are coming soon! Thanks!
Superb engine in that (CP3), have the same in my XSR900 and love it (whines in 3 and 6th)
I have the same bike, it's awesome.
Good taste!
Congrats on your new bike, great choice, happy christmas from Ireland
This year I too traded my Tiger 850 sport in for a new Tracer 9GT. Love it! Safe riding!
Congrats on the new bike! So how does this go with a pillion compared to the old bike? Cheers!
Very quickly, if you want it. Much better in most meaningful ways but will cover that later in the year. Thanks!
@@Englishbikerdan Look forward to the update!
I’ve just bought a tiger 900 and plan to take my good lady as pillion who is also slight .
Tell me more about the 850 with pillion issues .
I had no pillion issues on my Ducati scrambler .
well done mate , ive got the 2021 tracer 9 GT best thing i ever bought , love it hope you have awesome times on her 😊
I like your new bike! I had a 2018 Triumph Tiger 800 XCX That I just traded in for a Ducati DesetX that I love! Good riding Sir.
I absolutely love these, I think they look and sound great. Enjoy sir 😁👍🏻👍🏻
That's a lovely bike, that triple sound Is music to my ears ❤
Beautiful bike mate, I just bought myself a 2022 Tracer 7
Good choice!
I have a 900 GT with an akra. I can't see how you need more than 120hp on a daily. 3 seconds to 60 and panniers with wind protection.
Very nice machine, I hope you have many enjoyable miles and memories with it!
Great review. I have no issues with dash on mine. Very functional. Congratulations!
Great video loved it. Like the bike. And the tracer 7 also. Glad you'll be posting some more videos. Hope to see more riding videos also. Tks
Happy new bike!.. Whenever I see adventure style on 17's though I can't help but think something ain't quite right 🤔
Congrats Dan 👏
Beautiful bike Dan. Enjoy it. I'm thinking of going for the gt+. Next year.
Steel braided brake lines will help (more) than brake pads.
Maybe on an old bike. But I can't imagine they'd make a bigger difference than pads rn.
Under maintenance in the owners manual is to replace the brake lines after 4 years...I've never imagined having to replace brake lines so soon...steel braided all the way, do not expand and contract with pressure
Congrats on the new bike!
Wow, I've been dreaming about this bike for almost a year now 😅. The dash on the GT+ plus the cruise control imo is worth the extra.
Cruise control is on the GT also, it's just not adaptive.
