Great review well done, I took one out for a test ride last week the dealer let me have it for the weekend, it was brand new and I put 150 miles on it. I was very impressed with the bike and have just got one in the icon blue silver and black.

Haha. You aren’t the first. And won’t be the last. Bloody Yamaha 🤣. Probably one of the only things they do wrong. Well, that and their stupid headlight front end situations going on with the MT line up 🤣🤙
I have a 2019 GT. It’s a great do it all bike. I think it looks better than the newer models. The side bags fit closer to the bike and are much better looking but do not hold a helmet…And, the exhaust pipes are nicer. I bought it used in 2020 with low miles and can’t see any real reason to spend lots of money to go newer. Don’t really need the new technology for my riding.
Looked like you were off roading on some of those backroads Matt lol. I previously owned an earlier model the CP3 engine is superb and all you need in the real world. This latest variant which I’d consider to be 4th generation certainly gets my thumbs up. Now starting to become pricey considering when released in 2015 they cost around 8k GBP new but that’s progress I suppose…….one thing that does look crap being only 1 headlight illuminated on dip why Yamaha do this is beyond me.
For insurance purposes I was on road all the time officer 🤣. I feel you with the headlights. On my MT10 I use to run with high beam on all the time because it would equal the look out for me 🤣. Prices are ridiculous now on most bikes. Just something we need to accept unfortunately.

I recently bought a tracer 9 gt, I can confirm the bike overall is a blast and a joy. I am a daily driver for over 14 years and this is the best bike I have had so far. Only downside I believe is that it is a bit pricy for my liking. But if that is not an issue I think it is great value nonetheless. the engine is one of the best developed and sold in the world and rightfully so. A tripple is also a fun experience to drive and hear. Highly recommend this bike for long travel and still having agility and on road safety.
Coming from a 1200 bandit how do you think I'll like it ? Had a nasty accident in 2021 hopfully I can rude again this year have my eye on yamaha tracer 900 gt or bmw 850/1200 but service costs are of putting
@@peterjohnston4472 Well i can tell you one thing, bmw is not as good as it used to be. I would not buy one it is way more expensive and I would prefer japanese bikes over anything. Reliability is best on those and so is maintenance. Having said that, the tracer is amazing, you sit straight and it feels like a very light bike. I have driven a xt660z prior to this one and I also own some other bikes. I adore it quite a lot. Perhaps only downside if you are a little older is that the way your knees bend slightly may not be for everyone when driving long days .. there is a small bend position for the legs because it is categorized as a sport touring, so def. go test ride to feel if it is alright, besides that, the bike is such a blast. @@motorsonny great I'm just about able now to test one so i think I'll go test a few b4 deciding in next few weeks how will the power be compared to a 1200 suzuki bandit ?..thanks very much for the video and thank you for the reply.
@@peterjohnston4472 No idea but I do know the suzuki are very heavy bikes. The MT is a triple so very smooth and very sporty engine. CP3 engine from Yamasha is the most made engine in the world if I remember correctly. Smooth power, enough for fun and bike feels light, what more can you want, right? Try testing a model 2022 or above though.
Hi Thanks for this great video. I have a Tracer 7 GT and want to upgrade to more power and smoother engine of the Tracer 9 GT Plus. I love your grey and black. This is the colour I would want.
Nice review. While I like the upgrades from the older model, I think it falls short in a couple of areas. The TPS for example should be something that can plug into the screen have to go 3rd party solution. The screen is much nicer than the old design looks boring compared to BMW. Having to pay extra for a GPS subscription.... hell no. They should have made it work with Car Play / Android Auto. Price in US looks to be about 17,000 plus taxes which is a bit tall for a 3 cylinder middleweight. I think a slightly used BMW R1250RS would offer a lot value for less money with more power, shaft drive, better electronics. My friend picked up a Tracer (new old model) and got me fired up to replace my aging ZRX, not sure this is the one though.
Thanks Robert. You never know, you might test this and it could change your mind completely. I’m glad they upgraded the screen. The twin look was very old school looking at not fitting for this model anymore. In the uk it’s a decent price point for what you get with it. 🤙
17k plus tax? That is like what 19sih k? For nearly the same bike you can buy all day long now for 14k OUT THE DOOR that is the left over 2022s dealers get a TWO THOUSAND dollar rebate from Yamaha if they sell em! They CAN and ARE right now letting the left over 22s go so much cheaper! Like $5k LESS OTD? Is a nicer dash and radar cruise worth FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS? I think not!
For me I’d be happy with the GT and the new dash. I don’t need the other tech and the bike is getting into 1250RS and V100 territory which are in a different class
Great review, Matt. It'd be interesting to compare it to the updated Triumph Tiger 900GT when it comes out next year with this bike -- there's something inherantly special about triples. Impressed by the quality of your video editing, complete with cut-outs and text tagging. Subscription for Garmin GPS sucks. The UK might be OK for Carplay but places like Australia with huge expanses of no mobile data coverage are problematic for Carplay apps. BTW, your GSA will also quick-shift through the gears with cruise control on as well, as long as you don't touch the clutch, of course!
Thanks mate, glad you’re enjoying the videos as always. Uk is still pretty rubbish for CarPlay. I’ve just bought a tom Tom rider 550 as I also do a lot of driving in Europe and CarPlay just doesn’t cut the mustard. Always thinks I’m inside the mountain instead of on the road 🤣
Just lined up a test ride on the gt pro 900 and 1200 for next week, not seen anything about an updated version of the 900 for next year, is that official from triumph?
Im now in the position to fund my 2 bike garage. After selling my 1250GSA, at 28 i didn't gel with it. So im either going down the route of.. 1. Tracer 900 GT - Road touring/commuter. 1290 Duke/ Mt10 SP - weekend toy. Be interested to hear your thoughts. Cheers.
It's a hard position to be in when you've got these choices to make aye :). 1290 SDR - crazy bike, to the point it's very aggressive and just wants to rip everywhere, not ideal for the country roads I live near, not sure on your local roads. MT10 - Owned one for 4 years, loved it, easy to ride smooth but then could rip it if you wanted, so that's a step up over the SDR which wants to kill you at all times :). (Also done some touring on this bike) You seem to have a lot of love for KTMs, me personally, after having had 3 different KTMs in our garage over the last 2 years, I had problems with them all and KTM themselves. Each to their own with the KTM route. Something to be mindful of though. Obviously I loved the 9 GT + as you can tell, I also put it down as my top bike under 15K for last year. Keeping with the KTM theme, it depends how much road riding / adventure riding you will be doing, so id be looking at the 1290 SAS if lots of road riding to get to some nice off road bits, or even the 890 ADV if it was less road riding and more off road / more technical off road bits. But then you've got other bikes like Hondas AT that is cheaper and more reliable than KTMs to throw in to the mix. Hope this helped a little, im interested to know what you think about my comment :)
@DSR1YT Appreciate the help. I've been out all morning on some test rides and have 3 booked tomorrow. Settled on the KTM 1090 Adventure. Bare bones bike. No fancy electronics to go wrong, can add a cruise control kit and at £6k it's saved me £8000 on the Tracer 9 GT+. I'm now on my way to Yam to test the XSR900 and MT10 and have one of those as the weekend toy. Thanks mate.
Good question. Both are set at a great price point for what comes included as standard. If I was picking, I’d still go with the gt +. The NT1100 is a decent long distance tourer style bike. But the GT+ can still give me that fun factor with its triple engine. 🤙
I have the non plus T9gt and love it! I love the motor and the handling great motorcycles! Unless one worships the looks of their dash board or commutes in traffic enough to appreciate the radar cruise? totally NOT worth the money which is a LOT MORE than the MSRP difference because Yamaha is giving $2k rebate to dealers to sell the many left over pre 2024 bikes.....in the states you could easily find a brand new 2022 for $4000 less than the 2024 T9gt+ IF there was not such a huge disparity in price I admit I would enjoy the plus a little more....I especially like the new linked brakes idea ....assuming it really works better....I like the idea of maximum braking in emergecies! They made the new rear rotor a little bigger also. Honestly the new dash and controls are not worth much more to me...these old clocks do the job even if not as pretty/
You guys have any idea if, in 2024, the basic tracer 9 model is going to have the option to come with the gt plus dashboard ? Or will it be exclusive to this plus model?
Good review mate!seems like yamaha have put together a decent bike there.would the brakes be the the same as the mt's have?i like the retro 'yamaha' on the front mudguard aswell.
My own experience with MT10 brakes are that they’re shoddy and need sorting out from stock. Didn’t have that same feeling with these brakes. That said, without researching, they may be. But maybe tweaked a little to work better 😁
@@DSR1YT from what ive heard across models, they are the let down for yamaha.and my own experience of yamaha brakes in the past are not the best.but on the plus point, you can upgrade brakes.👍
@@mart7798 exactly mate. Pads are cheap enough to start with. When I got my mt10 I changed the pads and got braided lines out in straight away. Massive difference over stock.
I tested one of these a few weeks ago thinking that it would be the logical upgrade from my current '17 plate Tracer 900. But I wasn't completely won over by it, and I certainly didn't think that it was worth the £10k premium over my bike. Perhaps if I didn't already own a Tracer 900 then I may have been more impressed.
My tracer 900 17plate has 150,000 miles on it and has had no major issues. Just discs and a few chain sprockets. I feel it could of done another 100k but sadly someone knocked me of 2 weeks ago and now it probably needs replacing :(
@denzalapin Jesus that’s some good mileage there mate. Sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully you didn’t come off to badly. What might replace the trusted steed ?
I too found that on last years tracer 9 gt. But I didn’t notice it on this GT+. Maybe if you are really high on the rpm and low in the gears there will be some. But that’s down to how you ride rather than it being a vibey bike 😁
Some dealers don’t always Tax their bikes. If this is the case they will give you a trade plate to wear or sometimes they place this over the original number plate. 🤙
I believe the radar cruise would only be nice in states that outlaw filtering otherwise WHO even wants to follow behind vehicles? IF it worked following a buddy on an MC THAT might be fun but I bet that is too small a reflective point to reliable track behind? BTW I dont think many if ANY 900cc bikes have larger than 310mm front rotors.. 310 even is SportBike track worthy for lighter bikes 330 is like SUPERBIKE track bike IMHO would just be overkill for a 900cc 485llb sport tourer with 117hp
It’s a nice feature to have on IMO, but you can always turn it off if you didn’t want it on. Also I can’t stand the split dashboard of the standard GT.
Fun to ride in a relax fashion for me. It’s not as aggressive as the mt09 engine where you need to remind yourself what rider mode you are in 😁. This is an easy bike to ride smoothly. And then you can have some fun when you want too 🤙
Great video 👍👍 now I'm looking for a adventure/touring bike but I'm not getting a GS 😂 at the moment I'm running a MT 09 and love it so thought a Tracer but the GT plus is to much money for me, what about the GT or 900 or should I look at the Africa or other 🤔budget 4-5k
@@richardentwistle918 I personally would be looking at something like the AT, its proved itself on road and off road. Where as the others you've mentioned aren't going to want to be taken off road. AT for the win.
A very nice test ride video. Very detailed and with a lot of useful comments. Got my like. By the way, I own the Tracer 9 base model and it has everything a daily rider may need. Can check my Yamaha Tracer 9 playlist. Just drop by. :)
Sometimes Bransons don’t tax their vehicles. So they will give you their trade plate to wear to cover the bike. This would be the same for anyone taking a test ride not just me. 🤙

@@DSR1YT please what is your inside leg measurement, as that does impact things. Also did you not find the pegs slightly rear and high, which also impacts comfort, and finally did you not find that due to the angle of the seat ie angled down at the front caused you to continually slide into the petrol tank.
Looks brilliant. I like it.
Yamaha have done a great job with this bike.
You guys have any idea if, in 2024, the basic tracer 9 model is going to have the option to come with the gt plus dashboard ? Or will it be exclusive to this plus model?
exclusive
I dont like those split screens, this larger TFT is ideal for this bike. They should move it over 100%. maybe in 2025 if not next year.
Exclusive to the +
Good review mate!seems like yamaha have put together a decent bike there.would the brakes be the the same as the mt's have?i like the retro 'yamaha' on the front mudguard aswell.
Massive difference over stock.
i think its the reliable choice isnt it.comes down to 'why' you have a bike again for me.
Reliability is a strong factor in people’s decisions when buying that’s for sure.
Then there’s the idiots like us that buy KTMs 😁
I tested one of these a few weeks ago thinking that it would be the logical upgrade from my current '17 plate Tracer 900. But I wasn't completely won over by it, and I certainly didn't think that it was worth the £10k premium over my bike. Perhaps if I didn't already own a Tracer 900 then I may have been more impressed.
Sounds like the tracer 900 still has a home in your garage for another year then 🤣
Inflation will happen whether you like it or not. We can moan about it all we want but at the end of the day there’s nothing we can do about it 🤷🏻♂️
Tracer 9 gt plus Price
My tracer 900 17plate has 150,000 miles on it and has had no major issues. Just discs and a few chain sprockets. I feel it could of done another 100k but sadly someone knocked me of 2 weeks ago and now it probably needs replacing :(
@denzalapin Jesus that’s some good mileage there mate. Sorry to hear about the accident. Hopefully you didn’t come off to badly. What might replace the trusted steed ?
Can you advise is there any vibrations?I've had the 2022 tracer 900 gt and found it vibration through pegs and handlebars with fingers going numb
I too found that on last years tracer 9 gt. But I didn’t notice it on this GT+. Maybe if you are really high on the rpm and low in the gears there will be some. But that’s down to how you ride rather than it being a vibey bike 😁
What did u have on the back of your jacket? A plate number?
Anybody know if these have self cancling turn signals?
Not sure mate, my vote would be no they dont. Hopefully someone else can correct me if im wrong.
Is it fun to ride in a relax fashion or is it always “on”
Fun to ride in a relax fashion for me.
Don’t put the pressure on me Richard 🤣depends what type of adventure riding you aim on doing. Get what ever makes you happy 😁
@@DSR1YT ok
@@richardentwistle918 I personally would be looking at something like the AT, its proved itself on road and off road. Where as the others you've mentioned aren't going to want to be taken off road. AT for the win.
real world bike for real people
definitely is. can't complain about this bike as a complete package
A very nice test ride video. Very detailed and with a lot of useful comments. Got my like. By the way, I own the Tracer 9 base model and it has everything a daily rider may need. Can check my Yamaha Tracer 9 playlist. Just drop by. :)
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video 🤙
The line starts behind me
Why are you wearing a trade plate on your back ?
Sometimes Bransons don’t tax their vehicles. So they will give you their trade plate to wear to cover the bike.
This would be the same for anyone taking a test ride not just me. 🤙
The stock exhaust sounds like slip on
they've done a good job even with all these emissions laws cutting around.
Only one God.
Have a blessed day.
You too mate. 🤙
Wooshyness 😂
👍👍
:)
All that tech but no hill stop brakes? whaaaat ....
I use my hill hold all the time on my GSA. even when just sat at traffic lights on flat ground. Just to make sure it doesn’t roll 😁
I was only here for the hill hold…..😂…..how disappointing. Would be a perfect bike for me otherwise.
🤣🤣. I suppose we could not be lazy and just hold the brakes. But where’s the fun in that 😁
How can you say the ergonomics are good when your knees are bent at an acute angle. There is no way that bike is as comfortable as your gsa. Please stop giving us a read off spec sheet and give us a real review. Thks
From what i can see during the review, his legs seem to be at a perfectly acceptable angle.this bike is a sports tourer aswell, not a bmw sofa on wheels.and to be fair,at 6'1 hes not average height.
and as far as the 'read of spec sheet',if he just rode round saying 'yeah this is alright!' most people would ask why hes not telling us about the tech and the numbers?his reviews are on par with 44teeth and chopsy imo.its just the questionable beard i struggle with!😂
I have to say I agree with you on the questionable beard. 😂
That’s it. You’re both banned from commenting on my beard 😆.
I found the bike comfortable no matter how my legs may have ‘looked’.
People don’t want to go on to websites and read about a bikes stats hence why most will go onto RUclips to be told. The way I review bikes works for me. Sorry if it doesn’t float your boat. 😁
@@DSR1YT please what is your inside leg measurement, as that does impact things. Also did you not find the pegs slightly rear and high, which also impacts comfort, and finally did you not find that due to the angle of the seat ie angled down at the front caused you to continually slide into the petrol tank. Other testers have mentioned these uncomfortable aspects???? Thks
