    It is kind of a bummer that technology that has existed for years on cars like Apple Carplay/Android Auto don’t make it to motorcycles at the same time. I am happy that some bikes are getting adaptive cruisecontrol however it has been long due. And the GPS-subscription? Why would people pay for that when you can buy a phone mount or use a GPS you already have?

    The biggest issue I have with these tech heavy bike is finding a qualified/quality mechanic. It’s difficult to find a good mechanic to rdo quality repairs on a simple bike. All I hear is horror stories…including expensive dealers. I’m not sure if it’s laziness or distractions, but generally the owners need to repair the work done by mechanics. Nice review.

    Like that you cover your front brake most of the time, and your groups' lines through the twisties max out the geometry of nearly every bend in the road. Looks like a fun ride.

    Coming off a Vstrom, I've been impressed with the included features and weight on the Tracer. Will have to give one a test ride in the near future

      Power to weight ratio was one of the main reason I decided 3 years ago to go to FJ09 from my last 2017 V Strom 650 (I’ve owned 13 V Stroms btw.). Since 2020 I’ve owned 2015 and 2017 FJ09, 2019 Tracer 900 and now for the last 3 months on 2019 Tracer 900 GT (11000km on my own already). On the road definitely superior to either 650 or 1000. This one is obviously even more advanced. You should give it a try. That’s for sure.

    The 2022+ Tracer9gts left over are being HEAVILY discounted which considering the 2024 gt plus is 16500 dollars for overwhelmingly the SAME motorcycle/ Makes the leftover Tracer 9gts at 13k a spectacular bargain! I mean do you really need adaptve cruise control? the only other real difference is the lonked brakes and a better looking display...for the better part of $4k MORE??? Get the old one whilc you can! Awesome sport torurer I love my 2022! I am approaching 10k miles zero issues and I have embarassed many full on sportbikes in the twisties! This bike is that good!

      There are people who will want adaptive radar guided cruise control , so they can watch you tube as they ride😅
      And believe me I have witnessed a car driver driving in the motorway fast lane with an iPad on his steering wheel , he didn’t even look over as I overtook him after 10 kms in the middle lane.
      Soon they will sell us riderless motorbikes and people will buy them .

    I wish the OEM's with TFT's would simply enable CarPlay and Android Auto and stop with their own apps. This motorcycle has really great potential. I've been looking for a "just right" sized motorcycle with "big bike" features. Buyers need to stand up against these motorcycle OEM's trying to go for a SUBSCRIPTION model for us to get phone/GPS features. Total B/S. Not exclusive to Yamaha, but when did 5 US gal become considered a "big" tank? These get 40-43 MPG so a useful range of 180mi or so with a run dry range on 200. Yamaha has made an incredible motorcycle and the market will decide if buyers want a touring bike with low range, and pay a monthly fee to use freaking Google Maps which is already on their phone for free.

    So I looked at one earlier today and they weren’t sure. Are the heated grips/seat standard? I wanted a Harley. But honestly this has everything from the adaptive cruise control to an adjustable windshield to cornering traction control/ABS. This thing has it all. Now to just be able to trade my two bikes in. Is there a top case to be able to purchase? Apple CarPlay is a must. No one wants to pay extra for something a bike is already capable of. Hopefully Yamaha can come up with a TFT update to add it.

  • @gorrdd
    @gorrdd Год назад

    Alex,
    I believe Yamaha decided on the standard USB socket rather than something like a USB C adapter is because of durability issues.
    A standard old style USB is not nearly as frail as a USB C. It is also easier to plug with the rubber boot in rain conditions.
    That area just under the TFT dash is really exposed to being brushed up against by any kind of tank bag.
    Gord

    I’ve been eyeing the S1000XR for some time as a street focused long distance tourer, and it’s still a sort of dream bike of mine, but you can’t argue the value this bike brings to the table. I’m a solo traveler so the power is plenty for me and the fact the side cases come with the purchase price is a big plus. Not the biggest fan of the looks though as it reminds me too much of a chipmunk with nuts in its cheeks. But hey, if looks is the main detractor for this bike, that’s a pretty good thing in my book.

    • @BuckyUSA
      @BuckyUSA Год назад +1

      I’m 50/50 on it’s looks. Personally, I’d would buy it for the jobs it could do rather than buying it for my own eye pleasure. It’s a duty bike to me. Plus, being married…who am I trying to impress/show off to? Lol no one.
      The S1000XR is a great bike but I only enjoyed that bike in dynamic pro. It’s better looking than the GT+ but still odd looking overall.

    • @benwells2338
      @benwells2338 Год назад

      @@BuckyUSAso true with the “duty bike” perspective with this bike. I mean, there’s just something goofy looking about such an upright bike with 17” rims right, so how attractive can a manufacturer really tweak that basic format? At least with dual sports or more off-road focused ADVs the larger front wheel fills the space in much better.

      Back in 2018 I test ride both the XR and a 900GT, expecting to be blown away by the XR. But, it was the other way around. The BMW had very little bottom end guts compared to the Yam. Obviously the XR has more power but you have to be revving much harder to use it. I ended up going with the Yam as it was a much better package. It’s been great ever since and haven’t even considered changing it. But the new tech on this makes it pretty tempting.
      I do prefer the looks of my 2018 bike, though.

Assuming that you have had a chance to ride each of the three bikes mentioned and they all equally fit your fancy which one has the best overall ownership experience. Dealer network, service, parts, accessories ect ect. Which bike are you going to regret NOT buying?

      I totally understand what your saying about $16,500 not being an inexpensive bike. However I think Yamaha did the right thing throwing all this tech at an already proven platform instead of creating an entirely new machine. I do feel that the additional $1500 dollars over the previous 2022 Tracer GT is a fair adjustment for what your receiving. Comparing it to the previous Tracer may make this one seem a little on the expensive side but comparing this to other manufacturers makes it seem like a bargain IF your looking for a heavily tech equipped motorcycle. I do appreciate manufacturers offering higher tech in their new models; however, I feel like there are plenty of people (myself included) who would rather spend less of my hard earned dollars on a machine that I have less to worry about being an expensive failed part in the future. I also still enjoy maintaining my own bikes without the need for exuberantly priced diagnostic/calibration equipment. A shame that Yamaha decided to drop the standard Tracer from the lineup for at least the 2024 model year.

    BUT!
    The one color, grey, is a HUGE mistake. I bought a red 9GT because it's so easy to see, day or night. Grey us what you paint something when you need camouflage & DONT want to be seen!
    I'm not in the market, yet, but when I want to replace my '21 T9GT I'm hoping Yamaha has better options.

    25 minutes of video and yak yak yak and no mention of self-canceling turn signals or keyless ignition so I assume that Yamaha missed the boat again. All this high tech stuff and they don’t include some of the basic things. Then the price is actually over $6000 more than last year because most dealers had over $5000 discounts on the 2023 models. Yamaha makes the CF Moto look a lot better.

    In an economy where the dollar has less value, people aren't getting paid any more, and interest on payments are high. Why would a company think the 900gt with a whole lot of the expensive tech would sale better than say a 700 tracer without all that useless tech. I say useless cause it only pushes riders to be less observant and also more gadgets to distract from the actual road.
