Good honest review on the Tracer. For me it's between this and the Triumph Tiger 900 GT. And with all the motorcycle channels I am subscribed to and Charley Boorman interviews I've watched, how am I just now discovering Charley's channel? Shame on you RUclips algorithm!
Hi Charlie, just picked up your review. I’ve had a 9GT and just upgraded to a GTplus (not X) and frankly I’m a bit disappointed how much you’re underplaying improvements Yamaha have put into the Plus. It was already an excellent bike. You missed the biggest innovation that the Adaptive Radar Cruse offers that sets this bike apart from the rest of the market, the integration with the indicators that lets the system pick up speed again once you start to overtake on cruise control - it is bloody brilliant! It makes motorways a dream - no one else’s system does this at the moment and it’s probably why the signals can’t auto cancel. Also maybe the PR notes didn’t factor in the cost but the equivalent R1300GS with all the packs is £24,600 (I know my mate has just bought one) so more like a £10,000 difference though admittedly you do get hill-hold that I’d love on the Tracer. The screen is rubbish, you're absolutely correct there, the seat is OK but the ACC and the new quickshfter makes this the best bike in the sector in my slightly biased opinion by a considerable distance.
Love ya, Charlie! Short, concise reviews. As far as SC turn signals, based on my experience with a Triumph 800 xRx (my wife’s), I’m not a fan. It has 2 options you can choose from, timed or lean sensor. Timed will invariably time out at longer stops or when wanting to give extra time for exiting, and the lean sensor needs a stronger lean to cancel, than what you might need to do, leaving them on. I use turn signals religiously, so, for me, it’s not even a conscious effort. It’s as automatic a process as shifting. Looking forward to your next review! 👍
I had self canceling turn signals on my Africa Twin and half the time they wouldn’t cancel or they’d cancel themselves too early while I was waiting to turn because of traffic or a red light. I’d much rather just cancel them myself
Great work Charley, looking forward to seeing your views on the 2024 1300GS when you get your hands on it... are you going to press launch? The beautiful state of Western Australia is great riding territory when you and Euan decide to do the "long way AROUND" the island continent.
Great video m8, You probably noticed that is a Tracer 9gt PLUS and not an X , However, that engine has so much more potential to be placed into a Tracer X a bit more off-road oriented with more ground clearance, longer suspension travel and bigger front wheel minimum 19” that would be something else 🤔
great review, although selfcanceling indicators is still more luxury feature to me (just like adaptive cruise control) . Any chance you can get your hands on Guzzi v100?
Charlie, I really like you buddy as I grew up watching your motorbiking adventures. I have now stumbled upon your channel and watched 2 videos and in both of them you make some silly mistakes with the technical stuff. For example this is not GT X model but GT+ Thanks anyway and wish you great success as you are a nice guy
Excellent review Charles. I have noticed you tend to review bikes at the higher end of the price range. Do you have any plans to to look at bikes sort at the mid-level price range? Not necessarily entry-level bikes, but maybe ones that are a bit more affordable for most people. But if you wanted to do another high-end bike, how about the new Moto Guzzi V100? Or are you leaving the Moto Guzzi range to your friend Ewan?
So bikes are becomeing more automated by the month i see on the road so many bad riders perhaps its a good thing but not perhaps for the older more accomlished riders.
Yes you’re absolutely right the technology is growing fast. I suppose my feelings about is that if you’re a newer rider the electronics can help tremendously keeping you safe. If you’re a good rider you can use them to your advantage. So I think overall it’s not such a bad thing. Or you can buy the likes of a Yamaha 700 Tenorite and all that has is a BS
Spot on Charley. As a rider who completed the minimum restricted licence requirements here in NSW Australia (L and red P plates - LAMS bike required, mine was a new SV650) I moved to a 2018 S1000R because it was, at the time, the most tech bike I could get. The electrickery let me learn quickly but safely. The newer bikes are even better. Now I lean in that trickery much less. I think it is a positive.
I have self cancelling turn signals on my Trophy SE half the time they turn off before I get to the junction. On my T120 I tend to leave them on all the time 😟😟 I guess that’s just old age 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi my friend. I am 1,82m tall, but I feel very uncomfortable with the seating position... My knees hurt... I have the foot pegs at the lowest position and the seat at the hi, but I still feel uncomfortable! I am thinking about changing the seat with another, more comfortable... I tend to slide forwards... 😭What do you suggest me doing? Should I try to get the foot pegs at the hi position and the seat at the lowest? I feel that this would hurt my knees more... 😭
My gosh I can feel your frustration. For someone quite tall and fitting into a relatively small bike. Sounds to me like you need something like a GS or a desert X much taller bike. Very different types of bikes. But the new 1300 is a very nice position and height. Also the new 1300 has all the modern tech that we start to expect. something tall I suggest.
@@Charley.Boorman thank you for your answer... The only problem about bmw gs is the high price... 😭Unfortunately I cannot buy this, and also pay for its expensive services... 😭Anything else; something like tenere 700? 🤔
It is truly packed to top with technology features. I love everything about this bike but the rider triangle. At 6-2 I find my feet too far back and up for all day comfort. It sits a little too much like a sport bike for me. If only the riding position was like that of a Tiger 900 it would be perfect.
Great video. I could listen to you talk about motorbikes all day. Love your work, Charlie!
Always happy to see you on bikes Charlie. Keep the shinny side up.
Watching reviews all week, and stumbled upon this one. Thank you! I bought one.
After all those moto travels films I’ve watched with you it’s so great to have you on the tv again. Plus I’m really interested in this bike
The rare X model...
😂

It’s great to see you out riding, Charlie.
Rock On!
Great review Charlie. Any chance you can get your hands on the BMW S1000XR and do a direct comparison against the Yamaha GT +?
Great review, Charley. Love to watch your videos on new bikes even after I just bought a new bike.
agreed on self cancelling turn signals! Should be a requirement.
I had self canceling turn signals on my Africa Twin and half the time they wouldn’t cancel or they’d cancel themselves too early while I was waiting to turn because of traffic or a red light. I’d much rather just cancel them myself

If you do a lot of motorway, the ACC is such a benefit.

Hey Charlie! You sir, have my respect. Just saw the channel and subscribed.
Had mine for a week and I loved it was a stolen with 120 miles on the clock in Bath
Golly! That's awful to hear. Hope ya get it sorted.
An Apple AirTag costs $30. You can meet the police right at your stolen bikes location……
great review, although selfcanceling indicators is still more luxury feature to me (just like adaptive cruise control) . Any chance you can get your hands on Guzzi v100?
Hi Charlie. It's a GT+(plus)🤙🏻
I take it he edited the title 👍🏻
Love the fact you switched the wheelie control off 😅
Of course he did!

Yes, the Tenera is very nice tall as well. Lots of them about so can get good ones secondhand.

I never really thought about self canceling that much, but now I want a bike to try it out. I did like the X thingy….PLUS sounds so boring. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
Whooo hooo, first.
Almost definitely never rode the bike lol
Big fan but didn’t seem sure about what he was saying.
Panniers are way to small :(
Ah, 14.5 minutes : good !!!
Adaptive cruise control on a motorbike is nothing but fluff
Lol, X??!
The headlights are the reason I won't buy this bike.
I said that about my KTM.
I found out that I can't see it when I am riding it.
@@tomg6284 This is one of the GOAT comments XD
BTW - it's a + not an x
yes well nobody is perfect. ha ha
