Ben, Was it WR4K that tried to get you shutdown?..I'll delete this as soon as you reply.. just wanted to be sure I'm asking the right person some awkward questions
@@Henry-zf5xd aaaaah!.. just noticed the "Edifice"..lol.. thought you meant the newest Casioak.. I'm gonna have to check out that Edifice.. doesn't ring a bell, good watch in your opinion?
The typical mens watch has gotten so big that 36mm is marketed as a ladies watch... I wear exclusively vintage (60s and 70s) and back then 36mm was considered your standard size for mens dress watches, and now I can't go back to 40mm and even 38mm is on the larger side for me.
Yeah! I think it's because watch these days are much more of a show off accessory than a functional timekeeper. I still use my old 36mm Soviet watch for that reason
Agree entirely. Old Omegas and other expensive men's watches were even smaller at 34 and 35; 40 was said by some brands to be "Jumbo" (!). For me, 36 and 37 with lug-to-lug distances of 42 are the maximums. I can find Seiko 5 and Orient 3 Stars in these dimensions, but genuine dress watch-styled pieces with that distinctive classy look are nearly impossible to actually get.
Right on. And speaking of controversial opinions - i think ladies rolexes look so much better, because theyre appropriate size for a dress watch and look refined rather than brash. But then again people dont buy rolexes for subtlety.
As I am still in the 'need' for a dressy watch I was tempted to get a Timex Marlin or a Bambino 40.5 but was hold up by the chinese movement or big size. This new Bambino 38 comes into a sweet spot for my wrist and I hope it will fall a bit in price.
Sarah, Orient also has a 36mm Bambino, although it's a bit harder to get. On a sidenote, It's branded as "ladies'" but many gentlemen liked it because it actually has true gentlemen's sizes.
The same reason why i love the Bambino is why i love the early 70s and 80s Seiko 5s, a level of class you can dress up and down with anything (from suits to street ware) and at a killer price and a movement that will last! Also im so happy you're back Ben a year ago you and Nico were the reason why i got into watches and understanding the purpose meaning they can have in your life, it has brought a layer of tranquillity I never understood before!
I had no idea this watch existed! I like it a lot. I think with this release Orient have done as much as they could do with the bambino without cannibalising sales of the Star line. If I was looking for a dress watch I’d happily pay the premium for this 38mm model. I think it’s also another hint that the whole watch industry - at all price points - is going towards slightly more modest sizing. Rolex’s 36mm explorer and some of the smaller navitimers come to mind, and seemingly the entry level brands are following suit. Excited for the future!
I don’t understand reviewers and fans obsession with the Bambino models 🤔. I bought their Symphony series 3 in blue dial last year and it’s lovely - understated and without the stupid dome ! And for £84 delivered 😊. Symphony’s get no mention virtually. “ Can’t get a dress watch for reasonable price” ( Ben ) ? Just got my ( 2 weeks ago) 40mm ‘ 3 handed men’s’ Citizen eco-drive , black dial, and its VERY smart and well made dress / smart casual , for £105 - RRP £140 😊. But then Ben has a blind spot for citizen - see his other vid (s) on this. We all have prejudices j guess , ah ..?
I never ventured into the Orient Bambino watches. Seems to be a stalwart piece as people develop collections. It looks nice and I'm sure the 38mm will be a success. I have to question why they wrote Water Resist on the dial though. It basically has none. Hardly worth mentioning. The desperation of dial wording, a topic of recent watch discussions I'm sure you're aware of. We get conditioned. The watch doesn't need to say that, nor does it need a replacement wording. But nice watch nonetheless.
I bought my first Orient as a shot in the dark. The Orient Ray ll diver. Loved it so much I decided to get a dress watch - Orient Bambino small seconds. ...Seriously good affordable watches 👍 Keep up the good work Ben 🇬🇧👍🙂
Hey Ben, great to see you're still with us, I've been wondering where you went! Great vid and I love the Bambino, I'm definitely getting one one day. In the meantime, I'm expanding on my Casio obsession and I bought an MTP1376RL-7A. Absolutely gorgeous for around $85 AUD. Maybe you could check it out for a future vid(?)😋👍
After such a long time and so many movies why don't you even try to get closer to something from higher shelf? I am not talking about Patek, Ulysse or Vacheron but Longines, Tissot, Doxa, Ball, Tudor, Tag or Omega and many other in range 1000 - 3000 USD ? To be honest I am quiet bored with this seikos, casios and other cheap watches... maybe its time to develop a little bit?
@@BensWatchClub an AD once explained to me that the Japanese brands are bad at making small index increases to the prices of their existing models and thus the higher prices of new releases might seem unjustified. Based on my anecdotal observations this seems to be true.
Nice video Ben, finally an Orient dress watch that can please everyone. I wouldn't have problems with previous Bambinos with big cases as long as they also offered something in true dress watch sizes; however, the close they have is indeed that 36mm, improperly branded as "ladies", hard to find and with odd 17mm strap width. I hope they notice needs and continue to develop into what i believe is a gap in watch culture: genuine dress watches that are produced today with attainable prices, but that looks genuinely vintage in all aspects.

Tried one of these on in an AD in Poland a couple of weeks ago. It looked more expensive than it retails for, looked great and felt good on the wrist. It's a pity Orient don't have more ADs in other countries as they're way better than the clothes brand watches sold on the high street and in so called 'Watch' shops.

What are your thoughts on Venezianico watches? I have seen some online that I like but have never seen one in person to really see the quality for myself. There isn’t really much info or reviews online either.
Everyone praises the Bambino. It is worth reading the Amazon reviews, which are almost identical to the errors that are bothering me. The only upside is that it's pretty, but that could be achieved by a $10 quartz movement. I would especially highlight the feeling and sound of winding, which is downright outrageous.
I love bambinos..but come on guys..36mm?..you wont catch my daugther dead wearing a 36mm..its to female looking..you might as well wear a tennis bracelet with it...
Yes. RA-AC0M03S10B is actually the perfection. Looks, style, dimensions.. Literally everything about that watch. And irl looks soo smooth and elegant. There is no competitor for it even at higher range prices.
Ben, have you heard of "About Vintage" watches? Please check them out and drop a review. Just found them, so I searched for your review and found nothing on it. Please look it up. Thanks.
Wait..there’s a 36mm bambino!?!?!?! I’ve been on the look out for a more affordable dress watch but I’ve been leaning towards the Seiko Dolce sacm 150. Super thin because of that older grand seiko quartz movement. Would love for you to do a review of this!

I bought an Orient Star Classic from TUS watches and can endorse the quality of the watch and the superb customer service.
Questionable side hustle it is!
dude, in india the bambino retails for ~290 quid
With 3 Bambinos and a Maestro, the itch has been scratched.
2:30 FINLAND SPOTTED! TORILLE!
Ben, have you heard of "About Vintage" watches? Please check them out and drop a review. Just found them, so I searched for your review and found nothing on it. Please look it up. Thanks.
I have a 35mm Tissot and it’s great to have a smaller watch 😊 would love a bambino
The cream looked great on camera.
What kind of scenario was that?! HAHA love this
I'ts not white, I own it, it's silver.
Ben! Any chance on getting ahold of Lorier?
Wait..there’s a 36mm bambino!?!?!?! I’ve been on the look out for a more affordable dress watch but I’ve been leaning towards the Seiko Dolce sacm 150. Super thin because of that older grand seiko quartz movement. Would love for you to do a review of this!
Hello Ben. could I please ask if you have any opinions regarding the brand Corniche? they look neat, and I fear scam level filipo scametti. many thanks in advance my dude!
