- Today my friends, we are looking at the New Orient Bambino in 38 mm RA-AC0M11Y, an exciting dressy watch or a classic modernized GADA for any budget.
Hope you enjoy it,
Andrei
Brilliant video and cinematography as always thank you 🙏
Cheers! :)
I bought this 38.4mm watch last week. The salmon-colored dial easily stands out from the steel band. If paired with a leather strap, it would look tacky. I'm so happy to see this video today!
Great catch! I need to put it on a learher to see how it performs :)
Suede is the way to go, brown, green or blue. salmon dials always look awesome on suede
A gray suede leather would look great on a salmon dial
If only this had a sapphire crystal 😅 it would be unbeatable.
True, felt the same thing in regard to the crystal. :) Cheers!
@@BraveBeaters I would disagree. If they included sapphire, it wouldn't have been $300 watch.
That's a great price point for something playful or occasional wear.
$300 pink dial yes, $1000... no, we are going DS2 black.
Oh and btw... Edit - nice suit pants, and than sneakers... uuuuuuuuu that edit bad.
Great video as always Gentle Braver
I have an older 40mm bambino that gets a fair amount of wear time. The mineral crystal still looks like new. The bambino is not a watch I'd wear to work or on a camping trip, but for normal day to day wear, mineral crystal holds up fine.
A cheap alternative to this model is the Casio MTP-B145D-4AVDF which you shared and I bought thanks to you. Thank you.
That one is very nice, agree :)
It is indeed, however I'm looking to change a bracelet on it as I believe it is the biggest let down of that beater.
Your videography is simply amazing! Please review the new solar makos next. Curious to see how they look IRL and your take on them. Cheers!
I will try to grab one, thank you :)
Thank you!
I’m so glad to see it has a 38mm diameter and I like the looks of that bracelet. I agree those hands are expertly crafted and look great. I rely heavily upon your analysis and your videography really gives me a good idea of how the watch appears in different lighting. I feel another watch purchase is imminent lol! 🥃
Haha! This is truly cool, well finished for the money asked.
Wish you all the best.
Andrei
You're right... I recall seeing an even smaller sized 34mm salmon dial Orient Star + other colours series back in the 70s. 😁
Finally a good bracelet AND under 40mm! Might have to pull the trigger as I've been looking for a salmon watch - just worried they might make other variations -_-
They already made some new colored versions but on leather. I think the salmon and the green one, are safe bets :)
@bravebeaters This is an elegant watch executed nicely. The bracelet matches the look with Seiko vibes, love the polished accents. As always, great video and presentation
Thank you very much! :) I am glad you like the watch.
Nice video. Unfortunately that date window looks horrible to me, also it's so small. I wish they would just remove it
I like the salmon dial version. I would love to see it on a dark brown-cherry accented leather strap. I would seriously consider getting it, but I can't justify buying another dress watch. Great video by the way!! Welcome back.
That salmon version is one very nice dial!🤩👍🏼
It is in person. Cheers :)
For those who are wondering. Last year's LE pieces will have "Japan" engraved on the rotor as well as the words "Movement Japan" on the caseback. These new Bambinos have "Thailand" on them.
Hello :)
thank you for the nice video. Very interesting watch.
I really also like your shots with the watch outside. What I noticed is that you did change something with the camera when you do "speak" to the camera in your room. Liked it a bit better in older Videos somehow. Cheers.
Thank you very much! The vlog part will be changed. Needs to be wider with more light :)
Cheers! :)
Amazing video, but there are no alternatives each watch has it's merit in our collections, but if you want a crown or a GS on your dial that's what you want not an alternative, maybe the Bambino or the Twelve, Omega Seamaster 300m etc... are even better watches than their expensive counterparts at some level 😁
Great photography btw... I likely wouldn't have given this watch a closer look based on that stock Orient photo (with the 3 colorways) that you showed, but your footage shows a night and day difference.
Cheers! That was the intent, to put it in different lights :)
Right size finally
Great review 👍 . The Bambino 38 is the best so far, but I have just picked up a Casio Oceanus t200 for similar money and I think that makes a better cut price Grand Seiko.
Beautiful piece! Congrats!
@@BraveBeaters Thank you 👍
absolutely stunning, but i need it in 42mm!
I always wonder why wouldn't they issue a Bambino on Roids ("Bambino Royal", let's call it like this), with a sapphire crystal, 100M WR, milled clasp, quick release spring bars and charge like 450USD for it. And before you say it's not realistic: SM or other top Chinese brands manage to squeeze that (and even more) into like 200-250 dollars watches. Even microbrands manage to fulfil that in their 350-400 USD watches. Now, considering, it's, after all, Orient they could easily go for 450. I'm pretty sure, taken the aura of the Bambino, there would be enough enthusiasts worldwide (including myself) eager to buy the upgraded version. And this new lineup doesn't have to replace the original one or be produced in same extensive numbers. It could be much more limited, but I believe, this niche would still be a success story for them.
I have the baby blue LE, love it, and there were only 360 made so it went from $300 to $1000 in value lol
Wow!
A charming watch. Remember when you could buy something similar from the Singapore greys for $100? Those were the days. Is it worth the RRP? Time will tell.
ORIENT STAR: Mechanical Classic Watch, Metal Strap - 38.5mm (AF02003W) - now in Orient form factor 😊
Very cool 😎
I'll take the Citizen AW0130-85Z (salmon dial) over this Orient any time: Eco Drive, titanium, sapphire, 39.5mm (available in Europe for around €350).
Please make a video about how to match watch straps with dial colour and types of watches!!!
That is actually a good Idea! I am interested as well!😊
That might work and be useful as well :)
@@BraveBeaters yessir please make one😁
It looks nice the dial and all however it seems like a tough one for swapping out straps.. I could imagine some lighter leather versions but it might be stuck on a (similar) bracelet
Hello!
Great watch but I even like your outfits more 😊 Where do you shop for the great looking vests? Thank you
Haha! Thank you! There is an umbrella brand, peek&cloppenburg with various brands, sometimes they provide decent discounts :)
Yes I like it ,nice colour and dial but I would swap out the bracelet for a nice leather strap.
Alternative: Merkur vintage sector dial.
I love orient and its a very underated brand, but i am agree when comentaries who say that a saphyr glass today will be so evident for a decent brand ,if chiness microbrand give saphyr cristalvand quick set strap,so orient but also seiko have to react.
I agree. Sapphire in 2024 should be a standard :)
Wow! Where did this come from? I waited for years for the bambino to be shrunk to 38mm, bt when the 1st ones came I wasnt really moved. My favorite was always the V2 wiith silver plus blue hands on pearl dial (I'm sentimental to roman numerals). But this model is amazing and may be my new favorite with the 38mm and display case back and awesome (presage like) hands and indices... I love the salmon but I dont think I can pull it off... that blue looks like it would be amazing with blue denim jeans... good job orient, but $300 is way too close to Seiko presage territory, it cant stand beside the Negroni for instance.
The roman numerals ones, are special, I like them too :)
Beautiful watch, I have a few Bambinos but always felt they could be a few mm smaller. Does this new one hold time well ?
Honestly I am not sure, I have to test the accuracy by curiosity :)
Be sure the bracelet supports your wrist size. They canceled my order for “Classic” model because they don’t provide extra links.
Now I kinda regret getting the Citizen Zenshin 😅 What's going on with these brands making such beautiful watches now
Zenshin is beautiful :)
🤩👌🏼
If this had a textured dial, it would be an insta buy. Sunburst dials don't speak to me.
I feel you :)
The curved dial feels cool, still.
How would you compare this against the Tissot Heritage 1938 salmon in terms of dressiness?
Both beautiful! But I would grab the bambino for a dressy outfit. The Heritage feels to be more a field watch than an elegant one.
oh man... a little late with the salmon dial... already got the other 1000s that came out before this one:-)
Haha! True! But you have to admit It salmon works on formal watches :)
I'm not sure that placing it next to the GS accomplished what you were looking for... Or I could be too much of a GS fanboy.
Not my color, the videography is amazing though!
But please lower the music volume while you speak.
Second! ;)
I wonder who was first :D
This amount of color grading is insane, it doesn't accurately represent the look of the watch
Where you live?
Putting quotation marks around "in house", is pretty misinformed by you. Orient does do thier own in house movements. So maybe do a little better research 🤷♂️
Merkur watch is way better.
Not really enthused about orient, tbh, although this and a couple others look great. Hate that logo , but that dial colour looks brilliant.
