My wife just gifted me a cream bambino 38 - it's so cool, I have to say. She did her homework to find an awesome-looking timepiece with credibility and no pretense. Value beyond price! Gotta Love it!

I'm genuinely shocked it hasn't been made in 38mm or smaller about 5+ years ago. It is the perfect design for that size and the larger case made no sense to me.

    • @tiagodvt
      @tiagodvt Год назад +17

It was previously made in 36mm - just not "hyped" or marketed as much as this new 38mm. To me 36 is much better for this style of watch. Unfortunately, Orient made it with 17mm lug width and aimed/marketed them as women's watches (not that it matters to me, but it surely didn't help them getting the deserved recognition). I own two, got two custom made leather straps, and love them :) Also bought them at under 200 bucks each.

I am surprised it has taken this long as well. At least they delivered on two of the big points of contention more many with the size and lug width.

Just bought a pre owned orient vintage FFD0F004W0. Got good deal and reached out to orient for the OEM orient deployant clasp they sold it for $18. Best value clasp so far. I actually bought the older one recently in cream! I prefer the thinner case size. I looked everywhere for a nice dress watch and nothing really caught my eye like this Bambino, and at $130, it felt like a purchase that had little to no financial pressure. It's unique in its value proposition, it is truly very well finished and beautifully made, I have watches costing multiples of the price not matching up to the finishing of this one. I actually really enjoy the leather strap after the breaking in period, it just floats on the wrist comfortably.

I already have the 40.5mm beige gen.2, ver.2 but I also gotta have the white dial of this 38mm. It simply looks great. I just wish that the crystal is at least made of sapphire crystal as its shape makes it really prone to scratches. For its pricepoint I could understand why it doesn't have that but considering that some of their diver's collection have sapphire crystal I would also like to see the same with their dress watches.

For a 38mm dress watch, it's still the value leader. Most dress watches in the price range are either 40-41mm with most Seiko Presage models, too petite in most cases with a manual wind Timex Marlin, some Ali Express watches (and even then they're mostly too big for a dress watch), or a hit-or-miss vintage non-luxury brand piece. The nearest 38mm dress watch offerings are some of Seiko's newer cocktail times (although tbh the recent ones look too ostentatious with their dial design), and the SRPD97/99 at double the price. For a traditional, no-nonsense, currently manufactured dress watch for under 300 USD, that 38mm Bambino is indeed still king.

I have 2 Bambinos and although I don't wear them a ton (because I rarely have occasion to wear a dress watch) that are extremely pleasant. I do kind of take issue with the constant slamming of the straps. When I bought my first one I bought another strap before the watch even arrived, because everyone said how bad the strap was.
On receiving the watch, I wore it for a few days and my impression was: The strap really isn't that bad! It's a little stiff and it's just a faux textured leather, but it's well constructed and durable. If you just break it in by wearing it a while, you might just find it endearing (as I did).
Leather watch straps wear out pretty quickly if worn a lot, so if that's you; you'll be on to a replacement in no time anywayz!

I am very impressed with the Bambino from Orient. I have the 41mm Version. I am amazed with the accuracy, in one month it has barely gained 10 Seconds, yes 10 seconds. I also own an Omega Speed master Moonwatch. It's a great watch but not any

size is a big factor too, the smaller size makes much more sense for a dress watch, where all the cocktail times are 40mm.

Yeah. I'd actually prefer an acrylic on this style of watch. Usually sapphire. The date window is pretty vanilla. I'd pay a little extra for color matching and a delicate frame. I also would prefer no SE through case back and better hardware on the bracelet. It so close to be a cute, simple almost perfect little thing. Now come out with a small second model and I would be incapable of resisting one.

I have the blue one with roman numerals and open heart, I love it every time I see it it surprises me how good it looks. I would like them to make a higher end model with better finish, make it more solid and add some brushed parts and saphire crystal, it would be ok if they priced a watch like that like their Orient Star models ...

Please review the newest 37mm Nomos Club Sport Polar? Maybe even compare with the previous 42mm version? Thanks Teddy!

Grand Seiko SBGW231 on a budget. Looks absolutely stunning! No excuse for any collection not to have a dress watch when something this beautiful, perfect sized and inexpensive exists.

My friend actually Bambinos as groomsmen gifts at his wedding. Great watches for the price, despite the minor shortcomings. Personally, the 38mm size makes the new one a bit too small for me, whereas the 40.5mm was better for my wrist. But this new one looks really good. Love the cleaner dial, wish they had a no date version.

Can i ask the diameter of your wrist? Thinking of picking one up but quite confused with what dimension to buy thanks!

@@sabsab4863 My wrist is around 7.25”-7.5” around, but with a fairly flat top. When you’re looking at size, case width is important, but the lug to lug (sometimes called the length of the watch) measurement is also very important. If the lugs hang over the edges of your wrist, it’s going to probably look too big. For me, I think 52mm is my maximum for length, or at least that’s as big as I like to go.

I recently bought both the 38mm bambinos shown in the video, from the Orient website. For me the cream dial is about +30 seconds a day, the white/silver dial is about +15 seconds (measuring against GPS time after 24 hours). Not that I mind! I wish the black strap was polished or had a gloss to it. It looks a bit dull and uninteresting. The cream dial brown strap I think looks great and has a nice sheen to it.The straps are a bit stiff and plastic feeling to start with, but they do improve after some breaking in and become much more comfortable. Bend them with the fingers a bit and wear them in.
I got the silver dial first. I was expecting the dial to be white as per the Orient website description, but it is silver upon close inspection, still love it though. I will say that the cream dial is beautiful and has completely out done the silver dial. I'll still wear it with my tuxedo to match the leathers and clean/classy look, but the cream dial will be worn a lot more.
These are my first forray into mechanical watches, and I told myself that with these two, I'd have a watch for any occasion and won't need anymore. I'm already eyeing up Kuoe watches now and waiting for them to come back in stock. What have I gotten myself into 👀?
