    Great Stuff. I have been an Owner Operator since 1996. My advice is save, save , save. Is is best to buy your own plates as they come in your name. If you buy a base plate from the company it’s in their name and if you change companies they want their plate back with no refund. So buy your own plate from your home state or from Oklahoma. Another thing is fuel tax. Those deductions will come on your statement so look out for them. Anyways!! You pretty much got it covered. My next piece of advice is go easy on your truck. Take care of it like a baby. I have blown 4 motors since 1996 and they are not cheap. Only one motor repair was covered by warranty, the others were out of pocket expenses that cost $20, 000 to $40,000. You need to stay positive in this business, and as a black owner operator, you will need to incorporate your spirituality in this business. I always ask my deities to open the way, and ever since I started doing this it’s been cash money all the way. No break downs, no DOT issues. The other day I went through a scale overweight and as soon as they pulled me in they had a black out in the area and they told me to go. I know exactly what caused the blackout. ASE!!

The reason I'm asking is because I'm a 1099 driver just grossed 3100 and netted 2900 in one week I have plenty of those weeks I'm tryna come to the crib tho and O/O locally seeing I not too far from that location he's at.

    Damn you're as authentic as it gets. This obviously isn't my business but spending that much in your first 30 days is really making wonder if you made enough to pay rent , cover household bills , groceries , money for savings , stuff for your truck, etc. Or was it kind of tight ? I know the maintenance won't be the same every month and the insurance being 800+ was a 1 time thing but is the money as a owner op enough to make those expenses like "ehhh i can pay for that and support myself/family" again I know its not my business just really curious.

    • @TruckingTransparency
      @TruckingTransparency  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it’s enough to cover major bills aswell atleast for me since usually my checks weekly were decent amounts …also some of these expenses weren’t directly coming from out of my check …for example my truck note …but just an overall dollar amount for the money I’ve spent since becoming a owner op

    Do yourself a favor brother. Keep it slightly over 1/2 a tank of fuel. It's not for cost it's for weight. Weighing less saves fuel ⛽️. Your doing the right thing for DEF, just get DEF every 3-4 days. P.S. DEF has weight to. Letting DEF run low saves fuel TO.

      I was in a accident and it was my fault. How much you think I’ll pay? I’m 42

    • @realskata16
      @realskata16 5 месяцев назад

      @@elperrocovero I have no idea bro. It depends on many things like location, amount of coverage required for the freight you haul, your truck and trailer value. Best thing to do is find a truck like you are wanting on truck paper app or something like that and it’ll have the VIN on there. Call the insurance places and tell them you have a truck that you’re needing coverage on to pull (whatever you’re planning on pulling). They’ll work up a quote using that vin and your driving record and you can have an idea of what it’ll cost. I started owner op at 23 with clean record it was $1585 but I had an at-fault accident at 24 and it got pinned on my record as soon as I turned 25 because my court date was like 2 months after my 25th birthday. If it wasn’t for that accident, my insurance would probably be $800-900 right now. But since you’re older, it’ll probably be around $800-1200
