Can relate lmao.. I was sleeping in my room and a BAT was in my room, screeching up a storm. I ran out of my bedroom and woke up my mother and father, and my father was being stupid and instead of keeping it for tests, he released it.we all had to get four shots in our forearms and thighs for a couple days and got treatment.It was very scarring, mentally and financially lmao

@@sungod1384 Not just Britain but free healthcare is a thing in most of the word expect US (and maybe a few more of which I am not aware of). We actually think it's crazy you guys in US have to pay for an ambulance or anything related to health, be it a medicine or a surgery.
In my country (Bosnia) is illegal not to call an ambulance if you see someone who needs but, for example, doesn't have a phone with them.

I got a tiny scratch on my cheek that over the course of a month swelled and travelled down my face to the jaw line and during this time the doctors just said to buy and use antiseptic cream. Years later and I still have the raised scar tissue running down my face that regularly hurts. NHS doctors can all too often not take a problem seriously.
@@ShaimingLong that sounds horrible. I only know about it because my parents watch a lot of medical and veterinary shows and i used to watch with them sometimes, they would sometimes mention how bad a can scratch could be.
@@starshine_lue5823 It's unsightly and annoying to put up with, especially when it comes to shaving. But it could have been worse, and given that one of my cats crawls around on me scratching my neck and shoulders daily, it was a rare bad occurrence.
It just shows that if a domestic cat living the comfy life can pick up some pretty bad bacteria on their claws, strays and feral cats are to be treated with caution out in the wild.

Luvie you are so lucky because when I was in China their student that just graduated from college and was very poor. So on his way back from university a dog bit him and he got rabies. So when he got home he was acting all weirdly, so his parents took him to the doctor. But note the family was very poor so they couldn't afford the vaccine. Later about 3 days later he died in the hospital. SO LUVIE U R SO LUCKY.

I think it was mainly because UK GPs don't really have the knowledge of rabies because it only exists in bats over here, so cases are quite rare.

It does exist here, but only in bats. Other than bats, it was wiped out years ago, and bringing over pets that could carry it isn't the easiest thing to do.

@@wet0wl I've held two bats in my life, both of which were "gifts" from my cat. The first unfortumately died, either from shock, injury or a combination of both, and the second flew from my hands after I held it up high enough to be away from my cats reach.

I remember being told a story on a boyscout campout that the rabies fatality rate isn't actually 100%. I was told a story by one of the adults how a girl who developed symptoms was put in a controlled coma for about 6 months and actually survived with only some brain damage. They tried this on 30 other people and only 5 survived, so it's a 1 in 6 chance this technique works.
I still quiver at the very thought of needles. You did a great job!

@@dilara3520 they didn't test the corpse but he showed many symptoms. And he bit me 10 day before death. Hopefully I dont have rabies but I'm showing mild symptoms

I remember, I was on a road trip with my family. when we stopped to go to the bathroom or something and there were these little squirrel things, and we fed them nuts, and then one of them bit me. I had to go to the hospital just in case that squirrel thingy had rabies. I had to get a shot once every day on that trip, stopping at different hospitals every time. Although it wasn’t all that bad, I got candy afterwards so I was fine with it. But then the very last shot I had to get had to be stuck INSIDE the cut I got from the bite. So I had to sit there and they had to hold me down while they were sticking the shot inside my already cut open finger and I SCREAMED. Lmao I bet the kids in the waiting room heard me and were freaking out. But ya it was sooo painful. But I got a Loli pop after so that was cool.

reminds me of when I got bitten by a dog, I didn't get treated right away, I kept monitoring my health for symptoms of rabies. but after a week passed nothing happened so it was safe to presume that the dog did not have rabies.
I have a similar story
Me and my family were at an Airbnb and when we got there we found this cat (white with black spots) it looked really clean and we let it in because it was evening and cold outside and after I took care of it it scratched me I didn’t get vaccinated but after a week and no symptoms it didn’t have rabies

Silly. First of all, when the symptoms shows up, you're already dead. That's why you have to get vaccinated IMMEDIATELY after getting bitten, when the symptoms show up it's too late, you should NEVER wait for symptoms in the case of rabies.
Second of all, rabies symptoms can take YEARS to show up, it could be in your body at this very moment (very unlikely, but it's possible and indeed happened before.) so waiting for a week for symptoms to show is not even accurate.
I hope that if you ever get bitten by a stray animal you don't do this again, you were pretty lucky u didn't die.
RABIES DOESN'T HAVE SYMPTOMS! Well, it DOES, but as soon as they show up, it'll already be to late!!! Rabies either kills you, or through an experimental treatment option, will leave you as the 4th living vegetable to survive it.

I can teach you how to approach a cat and pet it without it scratching you,
Approaching cat:
1. Crouch, cats find big things scary so making yourself small will make the cat more comfortable with you
2. Slowly walk over to it without making noise, any sudden movement or making any loud noise will scare the cat and it will run away also even though it may be tricky keep crouching while walking towards the cat
3. Hold out your hand, the cat will want to sniff your hand before anything else
4. When the cat is done sniffing and it's moved it's head away you can start petting it!
Petting the cat
1. Whatever you do don't let it's belly, when a cat is exposing it's belly it may seem like an invitation to pet it but actually it just does that to tell you it trusts you so instead pet it's head
2. Don't put your arm over their head, like i said before cats don't like things bigger than them so seeing a giant arm over their head is scary and they will try to grab your arm so instead of putting your arm over the cat what you should do instead is put your arm next to the cat then once your arm is past the cat's head bend it towards the cat then pet it

For non-UK peeps, rabies is almost non-existent in the UK. A long time ago, rabid animals were culled, and it's hard for new rabid animals to enter the country because we have the sea blocking easy entry. The only animals that can potentially carry rabies in the UK are bats, and there are small numbers of cases caused by bats, but it's super rare. The amount of opportunities to actually hold a bat are so few, that even if you aren't wearing gloves as protection (like you should be), you're unlikely to get bitten. I've held two bats, but only because my cat caught them for me as "gifts", so I just tried to do my best to make sure they were well enough to fly home (one died from shock unfortinately, but I tried my best, although the other flew right from my hands).
There’s a memorial of a girl at my middle school(junior high) no one knew how she died unless you spent 40 minutes searching old news articles for what happened, she got bitten by a Bat and died of rabies.
