Its so nice to be able to recognize almost every Skaven unit here after hundreds of hours put into Vermintide 2 and Total Warhammer
But they will add new ones, for example the giant version of ratling gun of the trailer.

the reason why i love the skaven in this is that knowing them they probably intended to not even be there or they did but was trying to appear from below the city and missed their mark but still roll with it anyway.
There is no such thing as a mistake to the skaven. Just a change of plans
I'm also pretty sure Thanquol had a hand in this. The Great Horned Rats funniest clown fighting his silliest battles. Almost guarantee they didn't mean to appear there but, if skaven lore has taught me anything, " You don't have to worry about a skaven plan, that will fail. Their F**kups? That is what you have to keep an eye out for"
they are a different kind of silly army compared to greenskin players

@@Mrslippyfists This. Just this whole comment. When a Skaven plan fails it usually means that the rats will suffer more since every failing Skaven plan involves an explosion. Now a hiccup however…that can be devastating…

@@turtlehead8386the different chaos gods have special numbers unique to them. Slaanesh is 6, Nurgle is 7, Khorne has 8, and Tzeench has 9. The Emperor is probably 1 (idk). And the horned rat god is 13.

Nah, Sigmar didn't lie. It's more like Sigmar wasn't very transparent about the re-forging process. But that doesn't roll off the tongue as well as a tag line.

Feel like that is the point one of the other Old World members show up and throw that back in his face, that he's asking more of the Stormcast than he was willing to give to protect the last world.

The skaven emergence was amazing, I love the scale and spectacle of the Mortal Realms.
Imagine mining your own business then suddenly a city rise from the ground like some kind of giant new York sewear alligator.... yeah I love it too.
Warhammer Community Article states this "city" is the size of a "continent" so, like, at least as big as Australia. Which is quite the city
The funny part is this that the skaven probably meant for it to come out underneath the city, but got it wrong and decided to roll with it

i always wonder how many of them would PREFER to just... go to Nagash. They all know great heroes get chosen so they aspire to be great heroes so seems like a small price to pay
I mean, GW already do that with Space Marines as a satire of power fantasies. Youre superhuman, sure, but youll never get to enjoy being human. Soon, you won't even enjoy being superhuman. You'll just end up with the hate.

Dehumanising nature of war
It's interesting to see the toll of constant reforging has more visual costs. She's died so many times and gained so much experience as a warrior, yet the soul she has is becoming less by clouding her eyes, which are the window to the soul.
Not really clouding them, you can almost see the glitter of starlight in them if you look closely. It seems to me that the more of the soul is lost, the more Magical essence of Azyr the Anvil of Apotheosis must use to rebuild each warrior, since it’s essentially being forced to plug the gaps Nagash leaves when he snatches at their souls. Over time, they become less like the person they were and more like a walking nuclear reactor with an increasingly vague memory of once being something less. The trade off is obvious; centuries of experience and unlimited power…at the cost of your mind, your memories, and everything that ever made you _you_ to begin with.

@@TheCorrodedMan It hgas been noted that depending on your Stormhost chamber, that the reforging brings dfifferent effects. The Hallowed Knights for example, known for their extreme faith in Sigmar, have been manifesting auras of light that burn away corruption. Others have been known to be consumed by a deep rage where smoke rises fr4om their mouths, etc.
They played Souldbound, I see ^^ there's a table with "Reforging consequences" in the main book of the game

Nah, the best skaven lore is that they could 100% take over the world, if they just stopped backstabbing each other for like 1 day. If the skaven were winning until like a warlock engineer and a chieftain got into fight and then the sigs showed up to clean them up that would be more in lore

Yep and i is old unit, back in 1st edition all 4 Chaos gods has their kind of beastmen. In 1st edition WH40K there were even loyal beastmen that fought in the Imperial Guard.

My boy Nagash gets a cameo, we get numerous cool units animated in extremely high quality and some bad ass/ brutal scenes. We get some truly horrifying existentialism for the Stormcast plus the Skaven get to be chaotic with new toys?

After watching this trailer, I thought that Age of Sigmar is great for a video game like helldivers. Only instead of heldravers, we will play as Sigmar warriors and teleport to different worlds to fight against:Skaven, Orcs, undead, chaos warriors and others

I love the storytelling of this Ruinator's history, from mortal champion to Liberator to Annihilator, and now this all-but-inhuman warrior. They know how to do a lot with no dialogue.
Love the cinematic. But Sigmar didn't lie lol. He promised Immortality, he didn't promise there would be no cost. As a main stormcast collector I do love the 'fracturing' of the Stormcasts psyche.
Its not even fracturing. Its perfecting them to be immune to chaos.

Plus the Stormcast Eternals have been around for a long time by this point, there are stories of how newer members have seen older/more experienced members die and be reborn only to come back with less and less of themselves. If anything the price of their immortality has been shown repeatedly over and over again in those they fight beside. I'd hardly call that a secret if I'm being honest.

The Skaven are the only Chaos faction I enjoy, they are so over the top, insane, funny and I love how they can match the most advanced weapons of every other faction in the most insane ways possible and make it work.

As a long-time Skaven fan, I am very pleased.
But as a newfound Tzaangor simp, I am overjoyed to see them portrayed in some more cinematic way, even if its for a couple seconds.
It’s really not news that this happens and it’s not such a terrible thing. These people died; everything after is a bonus. Is being Nagash’s slave any better? And besides, they’re willingly sacrificing their souls for the good of all reality. It’s a pretty good deal.

I really love how Age of Sigmar has grown since it‘s introduction. I was very sceptical at first as I started Warhammer shortly before the End Times and had just gotten into the Warhammer Fantasy setting

Happens in the lore more than you think. Yndrasta straight up calls him a monster in her first appearance in print. And she's basically a primarch.

The anvils of heldenhammer, for example, is the Stormhost who questions Sigmar more openly, but they still have blind Faith in him

Ye it's awesome. Hopefully 40k does this one day, and chapters like the Imperial Fists get time to shine.
And it turns out their the ones fighting the Skaven and even they wern't enough so SIgmar opened the Ruination Chamber which will hopefully be filled with absolute units of Stormcast like the 3 that were able to go into the chaos!!!!!
I love both how this really sells the stormcast by focusing on the most unique and intriguing part of them narratively (in my opinion) by focusing on how they loose them selves a little with every death.
Side note SKAVENNNNNNNN! loved the wheel, mandatory friendly quota was almost filled entirely by that one death because it was so aggressively skaven.
When Ushoran and the Steel Rook came out, someone in a comment section said that AoS is experiencing "Dark Soulsification." AoS 4E is shaping up to be a really unique fantasy setting with some of the highest high fantasy being mixed with some of the darkest dark fantasy. I love it.
I missed the part where Sigmar lied. Otherwise, great spectacle. No sigmarite shieldwall thou. Just 7 individual Sigmarines enjoying the moment. Sigmarite Plate still made of rubber I see.
So in the lore, Sigmar never told the Stormcasts that every time they die and get reforged, they lose more and more of their memories and humanity until they are little more than celestial automatons. He instead told only the sacrosanct chamber about that problem and he's been trying to fix it. But now so many Stormcasts have died so often by this point that they are starting to question why he didn't admit there was a problem with the reforging process
Every stormcast is a reborn warrior that fights for sigmar and every time they are slain in battle they are reborn again, but every time they’re reborn, a piece of their soul gets taken.
@@SerKawlin In the lore, the Stormcast are very much aware of the issue, though. When the Soul Wars started, many Stormcast were dismayed because the Sacrosanct Chamber are the dudes that were most involved in fixing the issue; but they were called up to deal with Nagash's minions. That's why people are asking where the lie is. Its even mentioned in AoS RPG Supplements.
@@SerKawlinI believe the sigmarines in the "Covens of Blood" book, mentions how many times they have died and that they are now less than they were.. Implying they are well aware of the process

Sigmar lied about the cost? Did he? Really? I was under the impression that many Stormcast know what happens when they get reforged; in fact, at least one Hero is trying to find a cure for the price they pay(Averon Stormspire). That having been said, Stormcast lose their personalities every time they are reforged because of Nagash. He disagreed with Sigmar's plan to fight off the literally endless waves of Chaos, and every time they die, part of their soul is claimed by Nagash before they are reforged in Azyr. Sigmar couldn't have known what Nagash would do, what his powers would grant him leverage on. Yeah, Sigmar continues to do it, despite knowing it now, but what other choices do they have?

When Stormcasts rant about "Sigmar lied" I would like one of them to talk to a Nighthaunt or Ossiarch or other form of undead and ask them if they are happy with what Nagash did to them. And then think about their own situation again.
Or what the Chaos gods do with souls.
Yes it is unpleasant what happens to you as a Stormcast, but probably the best outcome when you die in the mortal realms

I hope for the Stormcast we get a lot of new models including new revaps of some of the older units like Retributors etc.

It's a bit early to be showing the models. It's only March, still like 3 more months before the box even drops.
The liberators still look wonky to me, those new helmets ...
But the rest look good, I think the idea of a lord with axe and shield is new? And the flying guys having spear and shield?

For the Skaven I hope most if not all of their models get redesigned/update, as for Stormcast it seems most of the older models are being updated to the newish from 3rd edition Thunderstrike armour so I hope we get some more heavy hitters like even bulkier Retributors!!!!
