When the Moodies broke up I bought the Blue Jay's album and Songwriter. I couldn't get enough of Justin's songs, and he is still making music!
Justin Hayward is number one and always will be.
I love all of his songs...I lost my father dec 30, 1977 and I was taking care of my ill mother...what saved me was my stereo and my moody blues albums...
There's a lot of healing compassion in his voice. Something not heard much these days. Compassion Rap hasn't really caught on.

I adore this darling (not so young) man, he touches my soul and makes me search for the meaning of the words he sings to us, which makes me feel his is singing directly to me.
He has a very weak voice and his shyness makes him so endearing to us. God Bless Justin, wish he could now retire and enjoy life and stop touring.
I would imagine Justin does not "need" to do live performance tours - I think he either does so for the benefit of his fans or just to keep active in his senior years.
Many people do seem to live longer than others just by keeping active doing something besides being a couch potato. Cheers.

This song ESPECIALLY out of Justin's flawless solo work holds an emotional loss (temporary) of my then girlfriend when she moved over a thousand miles away from me. Having worked on the railroad (for 40 YEARS) she DID, then, "..take my train right off the rails". But we re-railed it months [years?!] after upon her return! We just celebrated our 36th anniversary 2 days ago.

I am currently in my second phase(at 60) of loving Justin (and John) all over again. Slightly embarrassing to have crushes so late in life, but there we are! The first ones were after Blue Jays and Forever Autumn in the '70s, when it was ok to have crushes. But hem hem... its now not supposed to happen! But they are both still gorgeous in their 70s and I would faint if I met either of them! Just goes to show that we are all just really 16 going on 17 however old we really are!
Justin is the master of sad love songs. His voice is so beautiful, it makes me cry.

I bought this single---but in 1977? oh dear. This little masterpiece was sadly overlooked--in a sea of Disco stuff, when every guy though he was John Travolta. This is the first time I've heard this without bad distortion, my copy was awful. Thanks very much for the download. I'll share it all over.

I think it's an ok album and not his best....the songs are pleasant enough but weak for him. One Lonely Room is a good example of this. Standard chord progression with cliché lyrics..

Wow. Obviously, most of it is prerecorded. Still. I bought this in Late Feb. or March of 1977. And this song, the layering, with the strings, his voice and his licks was so moving. Soon after I would meet the love of my life but at this time was mourning another. His finest solo album in my opinion.

Songwriter is unquestionably his finest solo record, but one cannot help but think that had he held over many of the best tracks until the reformation of The Moody Blues, Octave would have proven to be a much stronger album.
1977; from "Songwriter". What's interesting is Decca (UK)/London Records didn't send us a demo 45 of this one; instead we got "Country Girl". Played it for a couple of months. Yet another Hayward gem; would have played it if I had gotten a copy.

Yeah "I should have known better" cuz a chick isn't going to keep dropping hints forever... She up and moved back Nawth. I stayed in my "lonely room" another 4 years before really falling in love again.
