Tactics star: ignore it. It is a fickle beast.
By that I mean most of the early and mid game you it won't give to four stars even if you're fast, but the end game it's hard to not have 5 stars
And they forgot to program in the requirements for the Hector-exclusive chapters, meaning every turn you spend in one hurts your rank.
Tactics Rank: AKA the filthy speedrunner rank.
2 years late and this is old news, but they did not forget to program it, the table is there. Just that they somehow messed up the game actually looking up the table and it mistakingly looks at the eliwood-mode one. They just did not set any values for the unused tabled, like the hectormode version of taking leave or valorous roland.
I always get 5 in everything except tactics and EXP.
Tactics is ... 1 star.

Same especially the chest in some maps.
Der Slendy or with Arena Grinding... I just tried to restrict myself to avoid maxing everyone's level on chapter 16x.
I generally 5 star Survival and Combat without really trying, but I tend not to care about turns in FE. And Funds in this game is weird. Buy tons of Silver weapons with the Silver Card and never use them! Never use the S Rank Final Chapter weapons, because they belong in a museum! Unfortunately, Tactics is worth over double the other ranks for your overall score, so I only tend to end up with 3.5 stars total.
eh rankings are just a thing for people to be smug to the rest of the community. its like scoreboards except you have to go out of your way to brag to people.
I take my sweet ass time in some maps. So my tactics rate is always at 3
There is a little mistake at about 3:25:
4 stars: 25% - 39%
3 stars: 25% - 34%

? Please elaborate. I am new to the fandom and do not know what you are doing.
In FE5, not recruiting someone counted as them dying for the purposes of the Survival rank. I forget if there were any other FEs where that was the case, but I know it was true there.
One thing Mangs didn't mention: the character who comments on the ranking screen is whoever you used Afa's Drops on. If you didn't use Afa's Drops on anyone or if you didn't get them (i.e. you didn't make a Tactician), Merlinus comments. The Tactician's epilogue entry also depends on what your overall rank was.
That explains why I have 1 star in each category lol

Yeah, really. I just can't handle having to plan out the entire game before I start, or having to finish chapters as quickly as possible. It's too stressful and takes a lot of the fun out of it. It's not even fun to watch (to me, at least); I only tune in to the LP for Mangs' and Mekkah's character ratings.
That's cool. It doesn't have to, really. It's just an optional challenge.
I used to have lots of stars at the beginning, but when I found an arena my tactic score dropped 3 stars in one chapter lmao

Watching this, I finally realize part of why I have always like Lyn so much and she always seems to do well for me! I use my birth date for the Tactician, and it gives a matching affinity to hers, so Lyn is always buffed by my Tactician stars. I thought about the Tactician buffs years back because I once played using a different month for the affinity and Lyn was noticeably worse that run.
I just never knew the specifics of how it works or how much the effect is. But getting a few extra % Avoid on a frail unit makes a notable difference over the game, because of how the GBA RNG works making the difference larger than the number suggests.
I still recognize Lyn is ultimately a bad unit, but I love her anyway. Also while I have beaten each difficulty mode at least once, I tend to play on Normal mode for repeat runs as now that I have done the achievements I am just playing for fun and rushing is just not fun for me, so I can afford to take my time and level up Lyn (and several other units which are good in Arena but bad elsewhere such as the archers and Guy).

So the presence of extra maps in Hector's story gives more opportunities to reach that 36900 EXP requirement but makes it harder to reach the 299 turns or less requirement.
I guess each map has a requirement associated with it so the game knows how to update your stars as you go along instead of only showing you your rank at the end.

I tried to put strategy in every chapters instead of going "BANZAI!" well it works in some chapters but usually goes down to one star fast.
No lie, the hardest part of the rankings that always got me was funds, and I never understood why, because The most excess equipment I ever had would be a few axes I never got around to using. With exp, I would just throw my weak units that I didn't use to often at the even weaker units in the end game if I was ever short on xp.
So THAT'S why the tactician has an affinity! Thank you, RUclips, for recommending me this NOW.

It makes me wish that the game explained all of them in detail. Maybe those ranks and the conditions that gave them were in the game's manual which I haven't read.
Lexyvil they arent in the manuel either; though it does have a lot of really cool artwork in it at least.

The requisite wxp, funds, and turns change depending on how many gaiden chaptera you do, and which campaign you're on. Serenes Forest has a great chart that will give you exact numbers, as Mangs' numbers probably wouldn't be accurate for your playthrough (and weren't accurate for his own).
EHM and HHM have different requirements from normal mode. In particular, the penultimate chapter has a ludicrous 8000 exp requirement, which can easily tank your exp rank from 5 starts to 1 in a single chapter. Funds ranking is much easier on hard mode. On normal, you basically can't promote anyone, but you can comfortably promote 4-6 units on hard.
I never knew the funds stats accounted for your current items. I don't care for ranking all that much , but this has been insightful.

I usually only get five stars in combat and survival, which dings my tactics ranking because I like to hoover up as much exp and material as I can for the next fight

And now I understand why he doesn't like games like this, with lots of content that can only be viewed on multiple repeat playthroughs. I heard the supports were especially jarring for him to fill up. And I can see why.
I miss ranking systems. It makes maps feel like puzzles to be solved, not a walk in the park.
Ok, so for the 36900 exp, That is the equivalent of raising 9 characters from level 1 unpromoted to level 20 promoted, and one more to about level 10 promoted over the course of the game.

Took me forever to learn to NOT sell my items as their value is halved when you sell them lol, items are sold at full price
True, though once you get the silver card, you can sell items as much as you want.
Now *this* explains why i felt a clear difference between playing FE 7 and the ones that subsequently came after. I initially thought that the RNG in _"Shadow Dragon"_ was bad compared to FE 7 but, turns out, it's the opposite with the latter being more generous to the player. Nice to know.

With 300 turn limit you might as well. I dont think i ever went above 200 turns. Not that i care of ranks

In one game sounds like overkill. There's so many things about FE6 that could be improved though.
I think that the data in the FE7 remake could affect units in the FE6 remake. Like different hair color,stats,class,and skills.

Lol i always do so bad in tactics since I always take my time and some times just have my units be endlessly be together with an empty, ready to seize throne so they can increase there support levels xD
whats the tactics for funds though? should you use as few promotion items as possible to not loose their value? same for the stat boost items? should you not sell gems because you will only get half their value? I always have the biggest problem with this one even though I rarely let possible loot pass
With the Silver Card I feel like you can do almost anything you want, since you can convert all liquid gold you have at the end into double its worth in items. Certainly don't hold back on using promo items not named Ocean Seal or Fell Contract.

Red Gem only gives you half its value if you sell it, which is why your funds rank will go down if you just sell items and do nothing with the gold. However you can get your funds rank back up by buying things with the Silver Card. So what Mangs should do at the end of the game is convert all of his excess gold into Elixirs or Fell Contracts.

Question about the funds rank: Does it add in the value of items that you have fully used up? Does it take into account uses on the item as well? Ex. Killing an enemy with a droppable killer lance at 20/20 vs at 16/20?

Are the rankings a sum of all individual chapters or the entire game as a whole?
Ex- two chapters have turn counts of 20 and 20.
I slog through the first one at say 35 turns. But LTC the next in 2 turns so my total is 37.

each chapter has its own requirement that get added up as you play. so basicly if you managed to clear one map with 5 turns to spare and then manage to fuck up the next map by using up 4 extra turns above the A rank requirement as it is internally called,then you will be at -1 turns(aka. still in 5 star range).the system is likely there to have accurate updates on the rankingspage and to be fairer towards the player
The ranking it displays in your file between chapters uses individual milestones for each chapter. So spending 35 and then 2 turns like you said would be bad, but the final ranking when you clear the game only looks at your total stats for the categories, not your ranking by chapter

Peluca Peluda I'm no pro at fire emblem , but I can give you a basic explanation. For the gba games you build up supports when fighting and ending turns next to each other (as well as healing and dancing). When you've hit enough points they'll have a conversation. The benefits of support is that both units will receive a buff whenever you are within 3 squares reach of your support partner (The benefit will be different depending on the affinity of the characters supported , but they get one from their affinity and their partners.). The buff will be bigger with each stage you reach (C, B, and A in these games).
For example, I supported Roy and Lilina. Thanks to that, they always had some sort of chance of critting when they were close and even gained more avoid.
If you're just raising supports just for the stat boosts, you'll want to look up what each affinity does so you can plan out a destructive team and even find ways to cover up for the weaknesses of a unit. On a last note, sometimes an A support can even change the endings of the characters involved. The previous pair, Roy and Lilina, wind up getting married if I A support them.
they actually programmed the ranking-values into the game,but they used the eliwoodmode-values instead in their infinite wisdom(and those are obviously 0 because you can only access those 6 chapters in hector mode). so yeah,the developers screwed up in a diffrent way,but they still screwed up
how are loses remembered if you reset the game?
If you lose Raven, reset the game and go into the map again, he will be listed as having 1 loss.
No they want to know HOW it tracks this through resets
Restarting the map, as opposed to nust skft-resetting like I assume most people do. So, for most people, this probably doesn't matter or apply very much.

I always do shite on the Tactics rank because i love to abuse Bosses for experience... also abusing Arenas for money so that breaking weapons on bosses doesn’t ruin the game :P

Yes
I am a terrible a survival. it is hard to keep units alive for me cause I accidentally get them killed when I fuck up at one point. I usually finish the game with a one star for survival.

I once tried to complete this game without resetting if a unit dies they are dead no resetting.

The one thing that pisses me off about FE7 is that they made the supports so long to level up, so that you can barely see any character development if you care at all about the rankings... Even if there were no rankings, getting Renault's supports is a boring grindfest...

Of course 5 stars in combat is easy. I averaged 1.5 stars on the other categories from my first playthrough but combat was as at 5 stars. You can play like shit and get 5 srars in combat easily

I only lost Matthew and Guy both to mages on chapter 26 Ursula with bolting for Matthew and a random mage got Guy with a fire mind you he was at 5 hp so yeah
It's a stupid system that disproportionately values speed clearing.
