The puzzle and platforming are not bad you just don't like them in my opinion and that fine they are hard as fuck !
For my part when I was 9 I could not pass the trap with the box and spikes on the floor , I have rage so mutch on this trap , I can't count how manny hour I've wasted on this section of the game.
That game is like a brother to me I growed up with it , more than mastered it.

I've always loved GoW 1's platforming and puzzles. They made me feel like I was Kratos, they felt like a challenge, something I had to think about and push myself to do. After completion, the feeling of satisfaction was really great. I think this has made the Cliffs of Madness puzzle and the blades tower in Hades some of my favorite parts of the game and the franchise :)

You right man, because the platforming & puzzle, it make me feel the actual adventure because it's challenging, deadly but it can get frustrated unlike the new gow it doesn't make me feel that, the puzzle not that challenging (atleast better then tlou and skyrim puzzle), & no platforming, they even took away the jumping because they think it's not emmersive & there's no platforming after all, just the stupid automatic jump that give you zero challenge, i just don't like exploring semi-open world game that doesn't give me a freedom to moving around it's just make me feel like I was exploring a horror game why they just took some inspiration with darksiders (it's a good game btw I highly recommended) but thankfully atleast there's some verticality in ragnarok
The 6th thing it did wrong is that there aren’t enough THICC characters

My only complaints of this amazing game are: the damn minotaurs block too damn much, every enemy is too tanky and that whole damn Hades level janky as hell

God of war 1 has the hardest enemies in the entire series especially the minotaurs with insane HP pool
tbh I didn't find them so hard. All I did was swipe them into the air and cyclone of chaos them back to the *DEPTHS OF HADES*
random fact: i discovered that if you have all items upgraded (blades,magic,blade of artemis)
all red orb chests transform into magic chests instead 🤓(same as the white chests turning into red chests when you have all HP and magic upgrades)

The thing I hate the most about the first one is the button mashing when you need to press circle. Anything after normal mode almost breaks the controller because they expect you to press circle 50x in a second. It made Godmode nearly impossible to beat. Thankfully, these are fixed on later episodes.
One of the things I disliked was that Ares always gave you tons of Magic and Health, giving you the chance to always spam magic. They should've given the Bossfight more resource management so the fight would be even more epic.

@@thatitalianlameguy2235 Never said they should scrap it. But during the fight, he just gives you way too much health and magic so you can easily, even on the hardest difficulty, get through the first phase, which is also the best part of the fight.

I forgot to mention the Cyclops with Bone shape swords they are exclusive to God of war 1 only and the hardest Cyclops to defeat from the entire series if anyone noticed that and God of war 1 also have the best soundtracks tell me if anything can beat Ares Theme will be zues but nothing can compete against it
The original trilogy had some of the best music PERIOD

I think that Magic is in This game is both vert good and terribly wrong:
The magic is fun to use flows very well Into the game and most of those magic attacks are All incredibly Strong. Which is the down side. Magic in GoW 1 is completly Overpowered. Not just Hades’ army, Poseidon is the first Magic you get and you can use it all throught the game because of how broken it is and medusas’ head is medusa’s head.
It’s obvious Why They Did Rage mode that away, But… If you max Out the Blades you get infinite magic while on Rage mode.
Yeah it felt as if The Lighting of Zeus felt useless. I did like to use it against Ares, but they should've given it way more features
One thing about the end cutscene of the game, I don't think they got it wrong, I think they just didn't explain it as well as the novels

I think the reason the blades are gone in the Thor fight is because tyr took them along with Atreus on a journey of some kind, that is why he was getting them (just for the journey) and that is why they were holding hands like that bidding eachother goodbye for now. Just a theroy and my first theroy I put out. Not really a theory either

Lol... Thor fight happens very early in the game, they haven't even left for Svartalfheim. Explanation is way simpler.

I loved this video man, I couldn't agree more. There's so much combo you could do with blade of chaos that's why I love blade of chaos more then laviethan axe because there's so much potential with blade of chaos (sadly in gow 4 or ragnarok they still not adding auriel combat, the one of the reason why blade of chaos is such a cool weapon), the animation in this game are one of the most smooth animation back then and it's also flashy and more acrobatic rather then the new god of war, I just hope whem they remaking this game they at even more combo, two different type of dodge, balancing weapon, more weapon (if they wanted), more enemy & balancing them, fix the rage mode, adding ascension grapple mechanic, more brutal axcecution enemy and more smooth gameplay also making all the bosses in that game more fun to combo with them and changing some platforming section to be more easy, & also 8:14 I like the soundtrack and F*CK YOU THOR FAN IMMA F**KING ARES ENJOYER 😎
I like this vid and I love GoW 1 but three of the flaws are literally just personal cuz if u think that not getting orbs cuz ur so damn fast and far away and dont want to wait for all of it to go in ur bar or taking too long to upgrade or rage taking forever to recharge is what someone would say if they are impatient. I wouldnt say this cuz I aint impatient.

Great Video...as always. As far as the soundtracks is concerned....MAN you don't even realise the feeling you get when you can understand the lyrics of the orchestra. I am Greek and it took me years to mature enough and be taught some ancient greek to be able too. But even now after this game even inspired me to give more attention to the ancient form of my tounge, holy shit it uses some BIG words in ancient Greek some of them even useable nowdays. They actually praise Kratos and his might and the mad lads even succeeded into rhyming the actual words with that awesome music. I mean soundtracks like ,The splendors of Athens, path of hades. Zeus wrath divine ,duel with Ares, Temple Minotaur, The architect's maddness, challenge of poseidon and Amphitrite's secret or my favourite , Winding through the temple. Those themes man are my childhood.

Bruh, I beat the climbing puzzle in 10 minutes... ON MOBILE! On damon ps2, which is saying something. Ngl, I thought it was a meme to hate on it on the Internet.
Alright, so I watched the video, and I agree with a lot of what you said. Here are some of my take aways of what I feel that the game did wrong. Keep in mind that most of these things that I think that the game did wrong are mostly due to the devs not taking certain things into account and perhaps having oversights that were improved upon in the sequels like you mentioned.
1.) The first thing that I feel that the game did wrong was the spacing of certain areas. The footage you used in the video is actually a perfect example of this. A lot of areas in the game can either feel very open or very cramped. This isn't an issue per say, you can manage just well in some of the more claustrophobic areas, but it is notable considering how some areas were so open that you can actually just ignore the enemies by running past them until you reach the next danger zone and so closed together that you felt like you were fighting enemies inside of a box. God of War 2 solved this issue by not having the camera so zoomed in on Kratos' body or the action and open danger zones with more enemies, sometimes bigger enemies, and more aggressive enemies types from what I remember. And the camera angle in GoW2 was also used more cinematically as mentioned in your video about how it always showcases the Temple of the Fates in the background. That's already 1-2 things that GoW2 does right.
2.) The second thing that I feel GoW does wrong is its use of backtracking, specifically in Pandora's Temple. I understand that thematically the Temple is supposed to feel like an impossible maze and the climax of Kratos' journey (Or so we thought.), but it really felt like the level overstayed it's welcome a bit once we had to keep returning to the center wheel several times. Backtracking is a staple of the GoW games and it's good to see that the later games were a bit more lenient and creative with how they had the players returning to different areas.
That's all that I can think of at the moment.
Video idea: After you finish god of war ragnarok you can make a video where you say what you liked about the greek era and what you liked about the norse era and compare them
One of my favourite games of all time, and probably still my favourite in the franchise. This game was just epic on a whole other level back in the day, and it's extremely nostalgic and sentimental for me. ❤

God of war alone made my childhood epic and made my mind blow.
The problem with gow4 music is ..... in previous games we Connot return to the same place as much as we like ....
So the story continues as we play and music is set on the specific part ....
But in gow4 you can return to the same place again n again ( except for freya's house, Jötunheim, tyr's treasure's, etc ) so according to my theory gow4 only used music in some special places and fights.

Ah, yes. The challenge of hades balancing section. It was FUCKING SHITPEANUT on the PSVita version, for if you slipped off balance, Kratos did not use his arm not to fall, so, insta death if you happen to hit the left stick a bit off

If you're a gamer, never listen to IGN. If a game seems interesting to you and you like it, that's all that matters. God of War is such an awesome series, great story, gameplay, music and everything you want out of a game. There's DMC and GOW, they are hands down the GOATS of action/adventure games. ✌😎👍

I was wondering, how long did you punch Zeus after the screen faded to red in GoW3? I dunno about my record, but no less than 30 minutes, after Finally finishing GoW2 in Titan mode, I swore I'll punch his face off for an entire hour...

God of War 1 is still my absulute favourite game of all time. For me, it's the best from the series. If there wouldn't be any sequels, GoW still would be a whole, finished story. But thank god we got the sequels (and prequels). Fun fact: Cory Barlog's favourite game is the very first GoW too. He said it in the interview with Jon Ford. I completely agree on the list, however I think the puzzles were really good and I didn't struggle with the Hades section a lot, but that's maybe just me. :D Might be strange but I think I love the music the most from the game. It's so nice that you mentioned ambient tracks, they're well fit especially when you're in Pandora's Temple. It gives you a feeling that you're in an ancient and dark place with full of mysteries. However there's a bug, if once the "Architect's Mysteries" starts to play in the Rings of Pandora, it never stops until you quit the game and reload it. Great video! I think I'm gonne play some original GoW again soon on my PS3. I just can't get bored of it.
The novel mentions Zeus refusing to wash away Kratos's memories, being a dick as he does, unlike Athena who wanted to fulfill her promise but was prevented.

Depends on who you're referring to. If you're talking about the action community, then yes, the main series as a whole is very underrated when it comes to combat, especially with all those jokes about S,S,T spam.
As for reviewers, the games are praised a lot, but at least in part for the wrong reasons.
The lack of music makes some scenes better imo. Just like in dark souls
idk but i wanted to comment this the writers and creators of this game are big brains and in the ending of god of war 1 it is told that kratos looked and was "present (as in supervised or seen)" all wars of mankind therefore kratos will not die
