I love the giant smile on Joe Vanelli's face. He appears to be really enjoying the entire performance but, in particular, seems to be really loving the drummer. This song gives me chills. Soooo good!! I miss the days of popular music having this kind of musicianship and songwriting.
This version is the BEST EVER, i bought the original Brother ro Brother album when i was 19 and when i listen to this song i got thrills still today. GINO FOR EVER !
I remember seeing Gino live in concert in Austin, TX back around the late 80's, when a girl yelled at him, "I love you" and his response was, "oh shut up".
I saw this in Detroit, I have seen more drummers live than most..... it was awesome! Sorry to hear he passed away, beyond an unsung hero drummer! Peace from Detroit MI.
"Brother to Brother, don't let the Devil get you down.,"....one of my favorite song by GINO VANNELLI...excellent singer and best performance in 1978 to 1980's...e tutte qua..bravo...siempre Italiano...ciao..Giorgio Messina...
To your memory Enzo. you fly over that drumset and it's a show within the show... gone too early is an undestatement. you opened nonetheless a universe in many drummer's mind
This Song will Shake you off & you will just go Nuts & freaking Crazy & Start Dancing in the Street or roof top in the midnight & you will take your neighbours to a rollercoster Ride. This is the Gino Block Buster Song, just love it.
Luv it when he faces his brother Joe on keyboards at 7:14 and sings "Brother to brother, to brother, to brother Yeah, brother to brother..." You can tell there is an unbreakable kinship between them
Gino Vannelli fue uno de mis favoritos en mi juventud, tenia 15 años ysu musica inspiro romance en mi vida, lo admiro me encanta su musica es grande lo mismo sus hermanos que estan en la banda y lukater en la gitarra.
I have seen Gino live and checked out all the video's I am a huge fan of Graham Lear and saw him with Gino and Santana but I have to tip my hat to the drummer on this video he was perfect for the gig...the production on this video (live) is amazing!
See the video of Gino and band playing in New Orleans April 1979 . There are two similar videos of that tour . The show that I was at is the one where he play "I Just Wanna Stop" and you'll see a group young ladies at the foot of the stage really beautiful Creole ladies enjoying the music . The band had Dave Marotta on bass an accomplished musician , Daryl Steumer on guitar who played with Jean Luc Ponty and Genesis , his brother Joe Vannelli on keyboards , the late Mark Craney on drums who played with Jea Luc Ponty and guitarist Tommy Bolin.if It was a beautiful night in the elegant old city of New Orleans, which is my hometown The best voice ever and wrote all his music himself as he was a classically trained in composition . Hes just in a class all by himself and is married many many years to his wife faithful .
To bentdrum: Joe (keys) plays keybasspedals and MIDI. Mike Miller also plays a MIDI guitar off & on. Notice that both Enzo (drummer) and Joe, are using headphones to listen/play with a metronome and MIDI parts. This method has been used for many years and with many OTHER artists for LIVE shows. Gino did this video in 1991!
Joe is not playing "key bass pedals". All the bass tracks on this album are prerecorded together with a variety of synthesizers, hence the reason they play with a click track.
My Aunt rocketed to steller cool when she got me this album in 1979. It took a while for my teen pallete to adjust as it was several levels above my teen palette. I grew into it. Music, that's all she and I talk about.
Gino has always had one the best bands in the world...watch the 1978 documentary...I think he mainly resides in Seattle with his boyfreind? Love you my fellow Canadian, Gemma Inc. Toronto...the beautiful!
@tdm1995 No hidden guy - its programming. Joe has the click in his headphones. At 2:44 he's actually cueing the drummer back in, after the break. Complete credits on the album go like this : Personnel: Gino Vannelli (timbales); Mike Miller (guitar); Richard Beaudet (saxophone); Joe Vannelli (keyboards, keyboard bass, programming, background vocals); Enzo Todesco, Enzo Tedesco (drums); Maxayn Lewis (background vocals).
QUE TEMA....QUE ARREGLO...ESPECTACULAR...GINO VANELLI IMPRESIONANTE...LO MEJOR DEL POP JAZZZ ROCK QUE ALGUIEN HAGA ALGO Y LO TRAIGAN A LA ARGENTINA.... SI ERA UNO DE LOS ARTISTAS PREFERIDO DE SPINETTA POR ALGO SERA
Saw this tour in Boston, November 1991. Have followed GV since mid 75, nice chance to see him, albeit with cut-down band, not like the glory days. Great to see Joe, classy guy, exciting arrangements. Sound quality at the gig was crystal-clear, pure and very loud. Best number of the night was 'Where am I going'. Joe should get a Grammy for all the programming work he did to make all this sound so good. Still have to laugh at how self-centered GV is though.
always loved this song.. saw comments below saying bass and synth parts were pre-programmed. Hmm, i just figured there was another keyboard player not shown on the video. Am surprised sequencing worked this well back in 1990, if that's really what was going on here. Really Love the synth patches @ ~ 4:48 and 4:59. Was giving credit to the off-camera keyboard guy! tom
@zekebass1 I do remember !! It is on the yynil version ..Fantastic bass solo by the way you can find the cd on amazon brother to brother album a trip and a half I have been enjoying for the past 20 years if not more..A treat@
great , but " Mike Miller , guitar and bass" we clearly hear the wonderful solos guitar of Mike in this song , but we also hear a bass guitar , how is it possible ?? any tapes ??
#1 most underrated artist in the history of music.....and it's 2023. If this doesn't crank your tractor, YOU'RE DEAD.
He has his loyal fans, but you're right, so underrated on the world stage.
I have always believed that Gino Vannelli didn't get the attention he deserved - especially in the United States.
I could never understand how he didn't do better south of the border.
@@waterdonkey
Not an American, the main reason and he did not know the right people!!
That drum part is insane
This song is a Masterpiece, this version is almost the same, as the one at the Lp‼️Thanks Gino, and the fantastic Band‼️💎
I love the giant smile on Joe Vanelli's face. He appears to be really enjoying the entire performance but, in particular, seems to be really loving the drummer. This song gives me chills. Soooo good!! I miss the days of popular music having this kind of musicianship and songwriting.
two great drummers I can't wait to meet in heaven! RIP Mark Craney and Enzo Todesco!
Me as well David!!!! Two of my favorites!!!!
This version is the BEST EVER, i bought the original Brother ro Brother album when i was 19 and when i listen to this song i got thrills still today. GINO FOR EVER !

Absolutely ruthless. Musicianship
-When Gino plays with Joe I think Ginos more dynamic. One of my favorite recordings also.
Had all his albums back in the day. World class musicianship and Gino's great voice.
What an awesome Drummer....Enzo !! R.I.P. Maestro...
I AGREE THEY´RE ALL GREAT MUSICIANS, BUT NOT THE BEST ONES, GINO AS ALWAYS IS GREAT AND A HUGE SINGER HE IS JUST A LIVING LEGEND.
Wow! Incredible Talent
Killing guitar soloist!
I saw this in Detroit, I have seen more drummers live than most..... it was awesome! Sorry to hear he passed away, beyond an unsung hero drummer! Peace from Detroit MI.
he had so much more to give!!!
Gino is great, but he performs with great musicians : Mike Miller is amazing, the guitar solo is so good (sound and feeling)
Mike is the guitarist of the album "Nightwalker". He also played Chick Corea Electric Band.
I prefer him to Carlos Rios.
@dukecats6824.. Scusa, ma me risulta Frank Gambale aver suonato in Electric Band di Chick Corea...🤔
The BEST when JOE is there.....
🌹🌹🌹🌹
The best version ever!
"Brother to Brother, don't let the Devil get you down.,"....one of my favorite song by GINO VANNELLI...excellent singer and best performance in 1978 to 1980's...e tutte qua..bravo...siempre Italiano...ciao..Giorgio Messina...

This Song will Shake you off & you will just go Nuts & freaking Crazy & Start Dancing in the Street or roof top in the midnight & you will take your neighbours to a rollercoster Ride. This is the Gino Block Buster Song, just love it.

Maybe you should meet him in person before you make a judgement like that. Obviously you don’t have any idea who he is.
@@alainquinn3691 You are right. I made that comment (13!) years ago.
Splendida canzone e performance
